once i read the book & saw the movie i started seeing what he was seeing & questioned society. i catch myself ppl watching. ppl arguing over the pointless things. the need to control their significant other. why are we so F***ing mean to eachother. now i escape reality through great novels & volunteer @ hospitals. funny thing is, my so call friends think im stupid and weird for volunteering. so ive burnt bridges with many friends. i understand when u said u dont quite fit into this world as well

McCandless did debate, but did over principles, not shallow arguments. Principles should be argued and fought for.

Giving your own time to help people personally is one of the better acts in this world, friends who do not see this are not friends.

I, too, have burned bridges with friends over principle misunderstandings. If I accept them, than why will they not accept me?

Sean Penn has given us a truly remarkable cinema experience of the short life of Chris McCandless. Although Chris deliberately committed suicide by going into the Alaskan wilderness choosing not to take a map or compass, his decision to abandon the material world gives us all substance for thought and, perhaps, inspiration.

My favourite song of all on this great soundtrack by Eddie Vedder. A wonderful film and many thanks to Sean Penn's talent bringing this story to the screen for all of us to enjoy.
