In Thompsons state he took down kimbo and layed on him and throwing charmin softies with nearly no torque, persistantly fatiquing and not knocked out. It looked like he was defending himself to me, watch it again, he threw an elbow just seconds before the ref stopped the fight. Plus, i don't even think Kimbo would have made it 10 more seconds himself, he was on the verge of gassing badly.
P.S, to answer you're question, no, obviously someone shouldn't be fighting in that condition. But he didn't look as bad as you think. like I said watch part 4 of this video when they showed the replay at 0:10, Thompson clearly threw a punch, so he was fine.

James was fighting back and connected with his punch when the ref stopped it. I think it was a premature stoppage but in kimbos defense James Thompson did not do anything significant the entire fight except take downs. He did not inflict an ounce of damage to kimbo the entire fight. When thompson was on top he didnt do a damn thing. Those elbows he was throwing while on top were a joke. they had absolutely no steam behind them what so ever. Kimbo was battling fatigue. He was not hurt what so ever, just tired. It was still a premature stoppage though.
