Is Xiu Xiu pronounced "shoo-shoo?" "Shoo-shoo" is what my ex-mother-in-law used to call the stuff we found in my babies' diapers. She couldn't bring herself to pronounce what she really meant even if she tasted a mouthful.

I think to say it correctly of Chinese, you have to say the "u" part lazily. Like "shuh shuh". That's the last time I heard it sounding

I formerly was a linguist in Mandarin Chinese for the US Army, so I know the vowel sounds. In Pinyin, a syllable that sounds like "shuh" would be spelled "shi." "Xiu," in Pinyin, is pronounced "shoo," except with a hint more sibilance to the "sh" sound, and with perhaps the faintest whiff of of the "i."
