Ahh, nothing like the good 'ole Impala torque twist. Even the '66 and '71 Impala boats I drove would lift the driver and leave the passenger on the ground.
fun to watch, but really that amount of frame twist is bad. those chevy's were full frame, and it was a weak frame design. they tried to have the low slung look to counter dodge and plymouth, dodge and plymouth lowered there cars in 1957
IF YOU DON'T THINK IT TAKES SKILL DRIVE A DRAG CAR THAN LOOK UP THE WINGED EXPRESS AA/FA GOING OVER 200 MPH AND IT'S STILL SMOKING THE TIRES..... DRAG RACING IS A LIFE STYLE, IT GETS IN YOUR BLOOD AND THERE IS NOTHING ELSE LIKE IT. THE DAY A HONDA CIVIC BEATS A 8000 HP TOP FUEL DRAGSTER THAN I QUIT RACING BUT IM NOT HOLDING MY BREATH.

vitto is an idiot. non american ball-less mo-fo. this is america, if u dont like our ways then GET OUT. that right rear spring might want some more pre-load lol
If it aint AMERICAN the FUCK IT! It dosent belong on the strip...same thing with nascar. All of these jap companies are trying to take over pure AMERICAN sports.
SUPPORT AMERICAN ECONOMY and dont buy toyota, nissan etc
I got the answer, perhaps the driver needs to have a salad or two before the race weekend. Car looks like a dog cocking its leg before taking a pee. Andy from England.
1. rear wheel drive is better than all wheel drive in some situations because RWD is lighter. At low horsepower levels AWD is usually better, but after the launch its pretty much dead weight. Show me a dragster or funny car that is AWD.
2. Knowing your car and being able to launch by feeling alone will always be better than any electronic traction control system. period.
@xxiTsMeKayLee I agree he still needs to work on the suspension as the springs are too weak. However, torque combined with a poor setup is what causes this twisting.
All of you flex dumb ass's don't know a damn thing. The frame does not flex. That X frame will not flex. They are a lot stronger than that. Take a good look at the rear arms, the rear end is trying to go forward pushing the front end of the control arm up letting the housing come forward. The location where the arm is on the frame has leverage and the top arm is pulling at the top, in turn lifting the car. If you changed the pivot point of the lower arm it wouldn't do this. LOOK AT THE LOWER ARM
OMG!!! Torque is a great thing. Imagine doing that from a stoplight next to some kid in a tuner!! Big cars with BIG horses is way more fun than little cars with chips and turbos!!!
@vitto Your little tuner has a little engine. Theres no substitute for horsepower. Also you need to learn about how weight transfer improves traction. No weight to transfer means less traction. I agree there is a point where you can be too heavy, I would take something lighter than an Impala, but you need weight to develop traction.
u are probably american thinking that u can only gain traction if the car have some weight..u are so wrong...u should go to japan to learn about electronic traction control and the way German cars like Porsche ant it's new engine bumpers making the car handles the weight transfer (no inertia) from a rear engine..only americans make heavy cars with big engines...the rest of the world do small cars with big engines..the ZR1 is made from plastic so that must tell u something.
@vitto Yes, I am American. That has nothing to do with it. I am talking about drag racing not sports cars with electronic traction control. Obviously people agree with me since I have the highest rated comment on here.
@vitto are you retarded you can run anydrivetrain you damn well please look up twin turbo gallardo hes all wheel drive runnin high 9's...... as long as its safe for how fast its goin they dont care what you got going on there might not be a competitive awd class but u can run em all you want... stupid shit
@vitto electronics dont do a fucking thing but rob power to eliminate wheelspin the best launches you can get are by feel... and awd is good for certain situations but drag racing is not one of them from ppl ive race driving all wheel drives subarus evo talon any of those yeah they normally take a 1 car lead from the get go but im 3 cars ahead halfway through 3rd gear they are awesome rally cars and they should stick to it but anything fwd awd or less than 8 cylinders dont blong at the drag trac
@vitto If you think RWD and American cars suck so bad, why were you watching videos on Chevrolet Impalas??? Maybe because any FWD, AWD, or Import cars really do suck for any kind of racing. Go to your local Drag Strip and see how many people get excited over an Import, a FWD or AWD car, NONE, because they show or prove nothing except why everyone sticks to an Electronic Free RWD V8 Powered American Muscle Car. Now that thats out of the way, GREAT VID of the Impala, love the W Engine cars!
one day i saw the video on the lists of youtube obviously watching some serious racing cars and theni saw a link with this video and decided to view it..nothing else. Not a fan from chevrolets or drag racing..i also believe that nascar sucks.
@vitto What do you consider "serious" racing cars? American muscle is "serious" racing. To exceed 300mph in 4.5 seconds dragsters must accelerate at an average of over 4G's. But in reaching 200 mph well before 1/2 track, launch acceleration is closer to 8G's. While this is not a dragster the same principles apply just not on as grand a scale.
@vf74tomcat AMEN DUDE THERE IS NO REPLACEMENT FOR DISPLACEMENT!!!!!! STANDING ON THE LINE BETWEEN TWO 8000 HP TOP FUEL DRAGSTERS IS THE HIGHLIGHT OF MY LIFE AND I THINK IT COULD EVEN TURN A HONDA LOVER OVER T DRAGRACING.
@vitto Stoplight to stoplight is drag racing and American cars do it very well. This is old tech and no computer running everything from timing to fuel management. Don't try to put that tuner crap in the same class as this. If you want to race on the highway we can do that too. I believe the Corvette is still a world class supercar.
@vitto so you think they make light cars with big engines the biggest foreign engines are smaller than the average smalblock v8 in america and most run turbos to keep up with the cars we build you know what happens when u strap turbos to an american car PURE INSANITY check out nelson racing engines u might learn a thing or two
That looks so stupid... call a chassis guy.
