told you i'd check out vids.. lol and i did. turns out i've already seen them about idk a 100 times! ok so i know you got a higher stall converter, chip and 3.73's what else you got?? mine has 3.73's, chip, 80mm MAF, rear muffler delete and it's only a 14sec car. which i know you have nitrous too, which i've considered except i've got 160,000 on the motor. Love the Mark VIII. :)
To the best of my knowledge the public can't buy 2008 Crown Vics as they have been relegated to fleet status. In any event my personal experience with the Crown Vics, even the police variants, make me very comfortable in saying that the Mark VIII would destroy it.
@MrHotrodlincoln Right, a stock Mark VIII would beat a Crown Vic... I just realized that a lil while ago. Vics sound good with exhaust setup but Mark VIII's are 20hp faster give or take. With a lil mods on a Vic you'll keep up with a Mark VIII no prob
Actually the Mark VIII has 40-50 hp over the Vic. I agree that a Vic with some mods may keep up, but it will take more money and more mods to do so. A Mark VIII will always be 3 steps ahead of the Vic and pulling better 1/4 mile times. The Intech is far superior to the 16-valve engine in the Vic. The only "fast" Vics that I know of have built engines and gobs of mods, otherwise they aren't that breathtaking.
@MrHotrodlincoln Right... I'm more of a Marauder dude. Those Cobra's will eat Intech's(not by much)lol. Exhaust, intake, and cold air would help keep up with an Intech, it wont kill ur pockets either Maybe not much added hp but that woud be noticable for a reasonable price. I'd put a cammed ls2 427 in it ;)
Well, of course a motor swap may be sufficient, but what's the fun in that? :-P The Marauder, by the way, has the same motor as a Mark VIII. Anything can be done with enough money. Like I said before, I know of a couple guys off hand with CVPIs that have built 4.6s with cams and a mod list as long as my arm. I can tell you that one of them for sure can pull on a GT500 with a 100 shot of nitrous. Without the spray, he's still pulls on Mustangs. He invested $15,000 though. :)
@MrHotrodlincoln $15,000? That's a lil to much my rent all year doesn't even cost that much unless you add $6,000 more lol. Oh btw your lincoln is demonized... how much did your set-up run you?
Yeah, it kinda sux. I wish I had a garage with a lift. Then I would learn quick LOL. Currently I live in a townhome so all I have is underground parking. Parts were about $2800 and dude is charging me about $2500 in labor including a newer 20K mile rebuilt tranny, so not too bad on price. I had 2 higher estimates than that even. I'm kind of addicted now. I am already looking for a Cobra Intake and 90mmMAF CAI. All my Mark VIII videos are of the car stock by the way. Stay tuned
@MrHotrodlincoln Oh okay because I thought seen your channel a while ago and I think you had a purple Mark VIII smoking tires going sideways thru the stop light. I might be trippin' but, was that yours idk? You said yours was all stock, I might seen someone elses
@MrHotrodlincoln Yea that's the "lincolnman"s car, I meant to mention in last comment. But that's what's up making big moves on the Linc lol... I drive but don't have a license. Should be getting the license this week idk. Right now I don't drive but it won't be hard to sustain a vehicle when I get this license, though. I might get a 99' Deville Concours or a 00' sls. Those northstars are like driving a comfortable ass house no lie
Northstar engines had issues no joke. I would lean away from those cars. Head gaskets and oil leaks from the block were main failures in this motor before 100K on the clock. Find a Mark VIII. I'm not just saying that because I am a Lincoln guy. I want you to get a strong reliable engine. The Intech in the Mark VIII is just that and EVERYTHING Cobra can bolt up to it because they share the same block. ;-)
@MrHotrodlincoln You're totally right, however I would have to come out my pockets heavy to keep up with a northstar. It's just something gansgterish about it that catches my eyes and ears. But then again just but you enlightening me on that I might just get a Mark VIII (love them too)... But I need a four door for easy access to idk lol
Not really. The performance is about the same and I have even seen Mark VIIIs pull on Cadillacs. The real difference is when you go to modify. ;-) I'll send you a video of interest concerning Mark VIII vs Cadi.
@MrHotrodlincoln Man I did't know someone can influence an individual to check out another car over the internet in a day lol. I might just go for the Mark. Northstars are fast but they don't seem strong. BTW look at this Mark VIII on Craigslist. It's a sick deal and in my location, I'll PM it to you
does anyone know why it is that most people just do a underdrive crank pulley and not the waterpump or alternator? Isnt a kit for a 96-98 cobra a direct fit? Any info would be a huge help
The gear swap is worth it, but 4.30 is too steep. I have U/D pulleys on crank, alternator and water pump, I wouldn't recommend it. If you want detailed data on how those exact mods affect a Mark VIII, have a look at the front page of my site streettostrip(dot)com.
if the water pump spins slower the car might run hot and if the alternater spins slower it might have trouble suplyin enough juice at idle when things like the head lights and heater fan are on
@grindking10000 o yea it is worth the money I run 410s in mine 3500tci converter 900cfm mass air superchip custom tune msd coilpacks nology wires 255fuelpump true 2.5 dual exhaust and a few more odds and ins only thing is traction is a major issue now!
@MrHotrodlincoln i got one on streetfire and one on here look at mark 8 burnout 3rd page jason's hotrod lincoln burnout! I have a posative track rearend in it now and still fries them both if you launch it hard! and on street fire look up lincoln mark viii from memphis but now deep in the heart of texas I took it to little river no gas was turning flat 13s but again had to leave from idle if u get on the converter to leave it just melts the tires!
@MrHotrodlincoln no really it does on a good set of nitto's it just run's good I had sct custom me a chip the way I asked for it! I have venom injector's and cook's three quarter length headers on it but since i moved here to texas I made friends with a couple big wig's at a place here in austin that specialize in turbo set up's and I am in the process of hashin out 2 t3 t4 hybrid's to go on it but but right now I am trying to get the stage three crower cam's for it!
Oh, ok. I understand what you're saying now. I just based my opinion on the terrible traction you had on that streetfire video. There is no way you ran flat 13s in that video lol
If I got any HP gain I would be surprised. The exhaust is quite restrictive before it gets to the mufflers, with 3 cats and a resonator and a long section of single pipe.
Dude! as mush as u have done to it u still have a mostly stock exhaust? get some true duels with the res and 3rd cat removed! Thats what i got and i can actually feel the diffrence And i got flowmasters. watch my vid against the srt-4 or something they sound good.
I'll check that video out. And as far as the exhaust, I was just answering the other guy's question. When I am on the strip, I have electronic exhaust cutous that remove pretty much all the restrictions.
That was before I started working on it. If I were to race the car as it is now against the car as it was then, I would pass the 1/4 mile mark 270 feet ahead of myself. I can't even go full throttle under 30 mph now without breaking the back end free.
God DAMN I can't wait to get mine now. Its a '94 as well. It just had the tranny rebuilt last year with a shift kit installed. That second gear scratch was fuckin' baaaaddd man! lol
That's a first-half 1994, actually made on the 10th of September 1993. Mid 94 they changed where the engine was being manufactured and changed the interior.
Wow! That thing Rips! I've got a '93 Mark VIII. It barks second gear hard but it doesn't lay rubber like that from a stand still. Did you put 4.10's in it?
That was some super-cheap tires that were slightly too small, so I was getting the benefit of both not so sticky rubber and a mechanical advantage from a slightly higher end ratio.

Just this past Friday I posted a personal best of 12.85, which is more than a little faster than any Crown Vic I have personally seen.
