Metal Sonic first appeared in 1993 for the Sega CD.

Mech Sonic first appeared in Sonic & Knuckles in 1994.

Also there was a Metal Sonic Version 3.0 made by Eggman Nega which was made after Metal Sonic, so there were others. It's just Metal Sonic is the most known and most popular of all the robotic Sonic's, but he's not the last one that was created.

God this game is amazing, though it would have been awesome if they were both on one cart, cause all I have left to play them on is Sonic's Ultimate Genises collection, so you can only play Sonic 3 or S&K, not lock-on style like it was meant to be...

But Sega really needs to stop raping sonic, they dont need to keep messing with the formula, even if they made a 16-bit version I would be happy, it would work great for the DS. But Sega really feels like they have to abondon us.

@jackfitz11 Uh well they released a compilation of Classic Sonic games for the DS called Sonic Classic Collection that has Sonic 3 & Knuckles on it (though the selection of the game refers to it as Knuckles in Sonic 3 despite the fact you play as Sonic and/or Tails (together or apart) as well as Knuckles, and to be honest theres really nothing wrong with Classic Collection for DS other than Sonic 3/S&K/S3&K has some slight slowdown but its not really noticeable *2bcont.*

@jackfitz11 *Continued* because the slowdown in them is not really noticeable in those games and its far from being the disaster that Sonic the Hedgehog 1 ported to the GBA was because even Sonic 1 runs just fine, though the pause button is on the touch screen but I have no problem with that maybe you do but My DS Lite is pretty much the right size to pause it with My thumb, though the special stages for S3&K are kind of harder with the slowdown but thats why I beat the *2bcont.*

@jackfitz11 *Continued* but thats why I beat the game with just the Chaos Emeralds with each character (minus one time as Tails) and then go back to Mushroom Hill Zone after beating the game to collect the Super Emeralds so I'll have as many tries as I want, though if theres one thing I have to complain about Classic Collection its that you can't use cheats for the games, because I want to play Sonic 2 as it canonically happend but Tails screws Me up in special stages so I would *2bcont.*
