Thanks for the info r/t the screw for the door knob. Last week I bought a door knob at Lowe's for only $.97, but like you said the screw it comes with is too long. My husband cut it for me, but that did not work that well! I'll check out the screw socket.

does putting the set screw in the knob just give you a better surface to glue or how are you going to attach it to your door? I just bought a 7G "Open" knob and the screw is too short to get through mychipboard ...
