Makes me laugh when I read that some people prefer the more energetic yoga styles as they are completely missing the point.
The faster moving styles are great at times but you can't always work that way. What happens when you are injured ? What does yoga mean to you when you can no longer get on the mat ?
A good student will learn as much as they can about all these styles while they can.
In my experience if all you do is the vinyasa styles then you will not last, it's that simple.
I am a yoga student for about 6 years now and and i can understand what you are meaning, but i prefer a more physichal kind of Yoga, with more movement and enthusiasm ;)
I don´t want to say that you aren´t correct, just that isn´t the yoga i knowed for about 6 years of practice..
The wall support is helpfull but you just can´t do it right if you aren´t without support... when you really have to empty your mind to get full concentration and beneficts...
I respect all opinions, but Please do not judge Iyengar method by this video.
If you have 6,5 years of experience in Yoga, you know Patanjali and Yoga Sutra and you know the concept of Purusha and Prakriti. You know yoga is not only a physical exercise.
Please read more about Iyengar, Krishnamacharya and Desikachar.
(I am not an expert, I am an Iyengar student, so professionals, please correct me, if I am wrong) The wall is not there for support (i.e. you are not supposed to lean against it, except for those cases, where is is obvious), but it is the touch against the wall helps one to feel how straight ones posture is - and it does help. In my school many asanas are first practiced near a wall the help understand the right position, and than without wall and it works.
I checked out your website. You don't seem too legit.

I studied with Iyengar. He never once mentioned "inner alignment", whatever that is. he never taught this nonsense either.

that is an interesting comment! it is Iyengar yoga - particular emphasis is on correct action to create space in the body - eventually the mind!
