  • The Grappler is the Greatest Ever. He was always good to everybogy he met outside of the ring!

  • What a great promo. Now that's how you set up a match.

  • Let em.....go. LET EM....GO!!

  • man this is what wrestling was about with intense feuds....i miss that

  • what year was this?

  • @gothsoul82 89

  • @lockenjr thanks

  • Damn, do I miss Portland Wrestling.

Even after 30 years it's still far more entertaining than WWE will ever be.

They used to use the unmasking of a wrestler for weeks on end.

The only thing that WWE cares about is how pretty their "wrestlers" are.

NOBODY in WWE could ever hold a candle to the talent that Portland Wrestling had.

I remember sitting by the T.V. on Saturday nights yelling at the T.V. because Rip Oliver was using his thumb, or The Playboy doing his thing.

    Now THAT was wrestling.

  • "Get out of my way! Hey! Come here!" That makes no sense. Grappler couldn't and CAN'T cut a promo. He's always yelling and pointing out the obvious when it comes to stipulations like loser leaves town.

  • @shootbinary Why cuz he wasn't doing one of those sad ass Raven style promos

  • piper is the shit. I wont say he is god because the lord is king but brother when it comes to mortals piper is the king...

  • Instead of booing me why dont you same something whoever you are and stop being an internet coward and I wouldnt let my size or the fact that I teach self defense to security and law enforement agencies intimidate you..

  • @lockenjr Maybe, but threatening people with a lighter is supposed to scare someone? Did I miss something in the storyline?

  • Wooh! Art Barr was great.

  • Ya gotta laugh at the striped pants....

  • Piper freaking RULES....

    The best ever....

  • I agree Piper is without a doubt the original. And if you live in the northwest like I do you know just how much of a legend he is. Hell when he was hated by the rest of the country during the cyndi lauper hulk hogan days he was still the biggest babyface here in Oregon and Washington.

  • @lockenjr whoever booed this is a unknowledgable punk ass clown.

  • @TedStriker5150 But he missed his cue to save the guy in the full nelson...probably powdering his nose.

  • Terrible interviewer, he didn't seem to understand that you shouldn't stand between the wrestlers and the camera. Piper had to eventually shove him out of the way (after several tries).

  • actually he was the most undrrated play by play man in wrestling history. Listen to the scotty the body aka raven nevermore series. He plays the innocent announcer to the tilt and the banter between him and scotty the body aka raven is priceless. Popculturestu has it posted in 10 parts on here.

  • i used to love watching Portland Wrestling when I was a boy. I also would go to see the guys live when they passed thru Albany. The Grappler had his three kick thing with his boot and Nord the Barbarian was absolutley disturbing with his "Huss" "Huss" "Huss". Ah the good old days.

  • The Grappler stood out here-he came across as a real prick heel, pushing everybody in the face. He was the man in the Mid-South area for a while in the early 80's, beating Ted DiBiase for the North American title.

  • this was interview art! fkin sick. The Grappler gave an awesome freakin' interview!

  • I got to know Len back in the 90's. I owned a transmission repair shop in Vancouver and while hanging around Portland Transmission Warehouse waiting for parts, I got to know this guy that was big as a bull, with knotted and knarled fingers. He eventually revealed to me that he was the Grappler, and being an avid Portland Wrastling fan I was impressed. Great guy. Roddy owned a transmission shop called Pipers Pit stop, and Len managed it for him. Those were the days!

  • I was involved up in Oregon when the hayday was happening the Grappler and Roddy were business partners in a transmission shop in portland. really sad I tried to get ahold of the tapes from the saturday night shows and Don owens son said they taped over the last weeks show for the next they are all gone. I'm talking Jesse ventura Jimmy snuka many greats what a loss.

  • roddy is hot

  • ahh. . .Portland Wrestling. . .a real hotbed back in the days of NWA territorial promotions. They had a lot of talent pass thru back then.

  • This was late 80's, after he retired. Piper's great.

  • Yes, he was helping out the promoter in the Pacific Northwest. Roddy had already made "They Live" and bounced back and forth between PNW and WWF/E in the early 90's.

  • This must have been in 88 or so, before Piper returned to the WWF after his first retirement. Also, this was right after Barr (who was later Eddy Guerrero's tag partner in Mexico) started I believe.

  • OMG....how old is this video? I used to love these old-school local wrestling programs.

  • Great stuff!Piper was the shitt!! Thanks!

  • Roddy loved Art and helped him quite a bit

  • "...the African section of the National Geographic"(!!??) What, in the name of all that's holy, goes through Piper's head when he grabs a microphone?

  • @massiveham Most people are still wondering.

  • He was actuley born in Canada,Not Scotland Gimick

  • Art Barr... Gone way to soon

  • Pipers God

  • Piper was one of the greats back then.

  • oh. ..Art Barr. :(

  • Please more PNW, this is great!

  • Approximately 89 and Portland Wrestling.

  • what year and promotion is this from

  • Jesus, look at the roided freak.

  • That dork in the mask is such a lightweight. A one-trick pony on the mic.

  • Yeah, but i dig it! Makes for a nice contrast when Piper shows up.

  • I think Piper is drunk? He's slurring a bit, no?

  • Your right that is Len Denton. One of the greats in my opinion

  • @502master Len denton HA HA on the east coast he wasnt but a preliminary bum alot of talk but when it come to GOLDBERG he didnt last long so what was so great about this guy huh tell me 502 master other than his mouth

  • I think thats Len Denton and when he was part of the Grapplers the other Grappler was Tony Anthony

  • they were also the diry white boys

  • Tony Anthony and Len Denton were the Dirty White Boys.

  • Yeah they were the dirty white boys. Sorry for forgeting the T. I am a wrestling historian I am well aware of who they were. I grew up on Portland wrestling but my family had a big sat dish and i watched almost all the territories in the 80's Did you thumb me down that was lame.

  • @lockenjr no i did not thumbs down you.....

  • @lockenjr no i did not thumbs down you.....I actually gave you a thumbs up.
