the main negative i don't like is you can't zoom as you are shooting a video,but the panasonic zs3 can,and is 12x! but cost about 230.00 i got my dscw290 for 139.99

To make videos in the HD mode you must use a memory stick pro duo. Probably the guy who made the video used another memory stick which caused the jerky motion.

I have this camera, and the last 5 videos on mine on you tube were shot in the HD mode, and the helicopter one and the one with the chickens as spots that actualy stop completely at times. It did this when reviewing right on the camera, before putting on you tube.

Very jerky movies, is this the camera? seems to make very jerky movements of vehicles etc things moving. Not smooth frame rates at all.

thanks for pointing out the jerky motion. I didn't notice that until you mentioned it. and you're correct it is jerky which means the frame rates are an issue for me. Thanks again, i almost bought this camera, but because of your good attention to detail, my hard-earned money is safe and will be spending it on a better quality camera (thinking about the Sony DSC-TX1 or WX-1)

I made the mistake and bought it before I found out it did that... Seems to only be jerky for me on the HD modes, is it the camera or does one need a computer with a super fast processor and a real video card ? I have a 2.3 ghz processor but I have the onboard video, instead of a real card ? But it's strange, if you watch other peoples videos using the same camera, you can see the jerky motion on most of them videos too... I haven't figured it out yet

Sony Cybershot T90 cost about the same or less(Amazon) and it zooms while recording.

It does ... I think he might mean you cant zoom while shooting ... you can stop it zoom and restart ... dont really matter

I just recently bought the same camera its Amazing I bought a Sony handy cam that cost like $400+ dollars and i wanted to do croma keying ..but it would always we crapy quality...Now i bought the w290 and it is is 5x's as good as my 400 dollar camera!!
