  • WOWW SO AMAZING YOUR ART!!, Please i have a question, it seems you are painting on pages of an old book? please confirm, because i have several old books i could use for this beauty!!, do you prepare the pages of the book with some gesso or not? thanks so much for your answer and your attention!!, Congratulation again!!

  • @claudycarina1 Yes an old book. Click on my channel name and you will find a video for how I prep the old book to use it as my art journal. Thank you!

  • Your work is amazing....I am so happy I found you in Facebook and Youtube =)

  • Thank you so much for sharing! I never thought to incorporate my old sketches into art journal projects, but it makes perfect sense. What a way to make the work of an afternoon or hour into an heirloom or an affirmation of self. :) Fabulous!

  • This is a fabulous page! With each layer I was thinking, no, don't do it, it's perfect as it is but you knew better and the end result is just wow! Thanks for sharing

  • Thanks. Yes, I say the same thing when I see other artists creating. And yet each addition seems to fit as if the artist were somehow connected to something only they could follow.

  • I love this page, it's gorgeous

  • Thank you Taraiha!

  • Wowee! Great video! Makes me wish I had some old sketches to use, hehe.

What sort of book are you using for your journalling? Does it have a hard cover? Looks great! :)

    xx

  • Thank you that made my day!

My journal is an old art schoolbook. I pick ones that have a sewn binding (no glue). It does have a hard cover. I also paint the covers. You can see many more pages and painted covers on my website.

And I scan and share my drawings too. I call them Printable Collage Elements. You can get them free from my website. I just sent out my newsletter for February with 4 faces (including the one used in this video). Join my newsletter to receive a copy.

  • Cool! Do you find your art journal gets quite thick? Or are most of your pages flatter? My journals tend to get too fat to sit shut properly, lol.

Boy oh boy I checked out the printable collage things on your website - looks great! I'll let you know if I end up using some in one of my videos :D

    xx

  • Ah, I rip out 2 for every page I leave in the book. So that when I am done with the book laying closed in front of me the spine edge is twice the thickness or the edge or open side of the book. This accounts for all of the paint, layers of papers, and such that I add in.

I would just love to see any work you do with the Printable items. And if you see anything in my vids that you think would be fun to have as printables let me know!

  • I forgot to add that I leave a quarter inch of the torn out pages in so that the spine will not come apart.

The torn out pages then become collage items too which is like a bonus.

  • That is such a great idea! I'm only just starting out using old books for art journaling and my first one I just glued the pages together, leaving them thick and stiff and hardly workable. Tearing them out but leaving a strip of paper still in sounds like the way to go!

  • nice job on your journal page

  • Thank you!

  • Love your art journal. Awesome page. Thanks for sharring. Would love to see more.

  • Thank you! I create a journal page every day but the videos take a bit longer so I am trying to do at least one video a week.
