  • To me it's one of my favourite games ever. I still like to come back to it from time to time. Many people say it's dumbed down hack & slash. To me story is epic and consuming. Maybe I'm just nostalgic...

  • @QueenSayel I feel the same way!

  • Anybody made the same mistake of not having a mage in the group when playing for the first time? :) I thought a would get on with priest and druid :D I did in the end but it cost me headaches, loads of re-loading and feeling of depression when I couldn´t kill the trolls :D

  • I remember when i played this game 4 the first time.. i was about 15. My dad decided to painting over the house, so my room was a mess. I WANTED to play this game, so somehow turned on the PC! The kids and the squirrel.. the tavern lady and her afraid of spiders.. great times!

Bye from Italy, i am 24 now and i have to kill some priests in the Severed Hand, so... ;)

  • in icewind dale and baldurs gate 1 are the best DnD RPGs made so far

gameplay was great and i loved prerendered 2d backgrounds ...

mushroms in upper dorn's deep were my favourites :)

they were much better than shit which came in 2000s

''horrible graphics but its 3d yay !'' i hate this stuff

  • @Runazarag Which shrooms? Screaching or stunning ones?

I think the Yuan-Ti are cool. though.

  • @akedibo all of them

every mushroom there is good mushroom

  • @Runazarag shrooomeh

  • @THOMAS14111983 No ffense but it lacks construction to be enjoyable totally. It hurts the eyes to see it randomly disposed and with too much suspensions.

  • this game was as hard as hell but still awesome:)

  • Because BI > Bioware.

Neither Dragon Age, nor Neverwinter Nights or even Baldur's Gate could possible face awesomness of games like Planescape Torment or Fallout.

Icewind Dale felt also much more entertaining than Baldur's Gate series, because gameplay was not omitted that hard.

  • I'm 20 years old, and i just tried Icewind Dale. I find it so much better than Dragon Age

  • good as Hans Zimmer

  • @RiseofBane Better*

  • the only good music piece from the entire game besides the title screen. The rest of the soundtrack sounds all the same

  • I shed manly tears for this game.

  • @THOMAS14111983 nice drugs anyway :)

  • Games like this one are forever!

  • Icewind Dale to mój pierwszy RPG, melodia w Easthavan i Kuldahar była genialna, taka klimatyczna... Ta gra miała w sobie to COŚ. Muszę znowu sobie wkrotce w to pograć ;)

  • whoever pressed the dislike button should be punched in the face till his head is equal to the floor

  • One of the best game ever!

  • 5 ppl did not make the expedition to Kuldahar out alive

  • oh hrothgar...you died too soon

  • Even after much time passing, these vids of icewind Dale and the game it self are masterpieces. Long live Jeremy soul and the creators of icewind Dale.

  • why the fuck is it so short i wish there was a bigger version of this

  • do you hear the silent flute once and then? reminds me of the oblivion soundtrack. Jeremy Soule genius.

my fav part starts at 0:45

  • @Nhordmyr Did you mean your favourite bit starts at 0:00?

  • 5 people are Justin Bieber fans who should stand under a moving bus.

  • I'll admit Icewind Dale wasn't one of my favorite games of all time, IWD2 was the better game in my opinion with of course Baldurs Gate topping all of them. But what kept me going was wanting to hear this soundtack. There was times I didn't want to play but I would just put it on so I could listen to the music. Kind of like Basil Poledouris will always be remembered for the Conan the Barbarian soundtrack. Jeremy Soule will always be remembered for this being his most epic piece of work!

  • with good imagination Icewind Dale 1, 2 may be the best cRPG games ever !!! I always make up my own dialogues and stories between my party in my mind :D maybe they should put me in asylum but I don't care :D

  • i loved the game so much...i still do

    but the music

it really takes the whole thing to another limit

oh my god, it is so epic

  • memories!!

  • @Aelbane

  • I hear yaa metal, pull this dvd out every year at summers end and play through once again, just started 3 rangers, 1 cleric and a thief party... epic even after playing through dragon age and awakening and all DLC's many times i always break from any game im playing and come home to this title for another annual run, the music alone is worth loading up this epic masterpiece

  • listen to

    VIRTUOSE - GOD OF THUNDER....

im thinkin for ober 25 minutes from where i know that song... :-)

now i found out and want 2 share it :D:D:D

  • hauntingly beautiful.... for some weird reason I associate this in my mind with the sensation of exploring Morrowind for the first time. This very nearly brings a tear to my eye each time I hear it.

  • @THOMAS14111983 get a life nigger

  • @MrWalalaa

    HAHAHAHA so true dude :D

  • @MrWalalaa chill out Mel

  • @MrWalalaa, You, sir, are a poet.

  • Play it again with custom NPC's, the difference from your own made npc, is that they got voice and they actually talk to you and eachother. also play it on heart of fury mode, that way it will last 30 real life days to play if your character is level 1 ;)

you get both a challange since you already played it, AND you get more content to enjoy the experience once again.

  • Feels like I'm coming home....

  • The best game ever! =)

  • @Kurt9737 yea that's true man ;]

  • ahh loved this song and also the game :) ty for the upload

  • I tried this game for the first time some days ago. I knew that this was going to be a great game when I heard this song

  • so vivid.

  • Era un buen juego pero complicado manejar a 6 personajes a la vez.

  • After almost ten years it is still my favourite game!

I remember that day... out of the tavern in Eastheaven, listening to this beatiful music!

  • @MetallaroUbriaco :) in my opinion the second best game ever made, right after Baldur's gate 2 SoA

  • Najlepszy soundtrack jaki istnieje :D

  • es hört sich fast genauso wie herr der ringe an oder ? ich mein das auhenland

  • thats is so... i love this song 5/5 *

  • What a beautiful piece of music!

  • I miss BI ): made the best presentations of faerun.

  • Icewind dale had the best music ever. One of the reasons among many others that I played through it.

  • Comment removed

  • Amazing that some of the best music ever composed are found on games such as these. Makes you wish they would sell soundtracks such as these, and all the great RPG and hack and slash games. I could listen to this theme all day... or an hour! :)

  • damn... hearing this track takes me back to really great times... Where r games like IWD, BG or PT?

  • Composer for Icewind Dale and Icewind Dale: Heart Of Winter was Jeremy Soule. Unfortunately, he didn't work on IWD2 or NWN. He probably should have.

  • Jeremy Soule - Neverwinter Nights (2002) (music was later used in Neverwinter Nights 2)

  • v nice song ;-)

  • neither an elder scroll 6 nor a nwn 3 reaches the beauty of hand-drawn infinity games.

  • Inon Zur, the composer for Crysis, Everquest II and Dragon Age: Origins wrote the music for Icewind Dale :)

  • Nah, Jeremy Soule did, but Inon Zur worked on the music for IWD2 though! Both have excellent soundtracks.

  • Who was the composer for this game?

  • jeremy soule?

  • Beautiful music, beautiful game.

    RIP BlackIsle.

  • good memories

  • I think aim gonna instal this game one time more :)

  • Heh, i like the moment when i leave tavern in Easthaven and i hear this music. It's great

  • Hear hear! All of you!

Let´s unite in the struggle of chopping oranges and apples into tasty fruit sallad! xS

  • ...what the hell?

  • So calm music... Nostalgia... <3

  • BG = IWD

    You bloody infidel !

  • Nostalgia..... (Emotional side)

  • Love this music. Recently started playing BG again and am gonna go through all 4 games. Forgot how much I love all this!

  • They are truly amazing games. Black ilse were the best. I often go back to them. I much prefer the older titles to the crap on offer these days like neverwinter nights 2.

  • Yeah, music was the one Area where IWD had Baldur's Gate beat.

  • Indeed. The only one. ;-)

  • I dont quite agree. IWD's soundtrack is amazing and perhaps has a bit more "epic" tune in it, but i dont think it beats baldurs gate's soundtrack. BG's soundtrack is a bit different, has more variety, different kind of music for different events/characters etc. IWD's soundtrack lacks variety.

  • You are comparing apples and oranges

  • Great great game, it's just too bad there weren't any character interaction and stuff like in good old Baldurs Gate :)

  • you are right man, but remember icewind dale concept was more about massive battle and character/spells evolution, it seemed to me like they wanted to sponsor and focus on the 3d edition ( IWD -->IWD2 )... i think they didnt want to make a sequel of BG when they made this game...

bg was deeper as a game... aimed on story development, interaction with npgs etc, where u dont have to fight every meeting... its more like an AD&D session.. this is what made bg the best game ever made imho

  • yeah, i feel like iwd left all that stuff so they could throw it out ont he shelf quicker. still a great game but man they could have made a huge hit.

  • Well, there is always the great NPC mod for IWD :)

  • I bought the IWD bonus pack that includes the soundtrack CD, love it!!! I play it often in winter and at night only to sleep to. Wouldn't seem appropriate to play it in hot weather.

This theme is breathtakingly beautiful!!! Like something one of the great master composers would have written!

  • Open your windows when you play for the full experience :p

  • I agree fully, so much feeling in this track and all the others in this game for that matter!

It can't just be nostalgia talking, I've always treasured this game for it's genuine music

  • icewind dale series is okay but nowhere near comparable to baldurs gate.

  • It is comparable but the world is much different.

  • old. maybe. old graphics? maybe. but this game is something more ...not game. it is a ICEWIND DALE, and icewind dale iwill be forever in our Hearts....

PS: Long live to Uncle Osvald !!!

  • Jeremy Soule is a very good composer!I have all soundtracks from IWD1 and they heartwarming!

  • this game looks so cool!! what is it for

  • Beautiful, where can i download this song?

  • I love soundtracks from IWD, this songs are beautifull!

  • This piece of music i a masterpiece ... nobody will deny

  • Jeremy Soule's just amazing *-*

    What a genius !!

  • I played it 8 years ago, too. this was my favourite game but my cd was too destroyed after a long time. I bought a new one yesterday^^ i love this game

  • Missed soo much that i havent played this game...but now i learned my mistake and have this game :)

  • Do You like it?

It is my first RPG game I've played and i loved a lot this game because of music..

And of course this is a real adventure ;)

  • Just completed it :) love it :) definetly gonna play it again on harder dificulty level :)

  • OMG from the first day I played this game (which was 8 years ago I think) this song never went out of my mind. The IWD series will always have a place in my heart. The best RPG game I have ever played. Nothing can be compared to it, and I think nothing will ever be as great as it

  • Comment removed

  • I've just bought it from ebay!!!

  • Then you made the right choice

    XD

  • In Poland there is something like Extra Klasyka (Extra classic) its series of classic games in low prices ... All Icewind Dales with expansions costs 27 zł (zloty) its about 8 $ in pounds it will be about 5,5 :) Same with Baldurs Gate

  • widze ze tez z Extra klasyki kupiles ;) Ja tez ID i BG kupilem. Nie zaluje i sa zajebiste.

  • Games like Icewind Dale, Baldurs Gate, Torment, Might and Magic will always be fondly remembered by gamers that value story more than polygon count. I wish I had IWD now to play...

  • You can still probably get them online. I bought IWD and BG series' boxsets something like a year ago.

  • i'm pretty sure Gametap has those games. Just make sure you're not running vista.

  • vista / windows 7 makes those games run just fine on my pc :)

  • I was just overcome with nostalgia... One of the best games ever... truly...

  • This and Targos song from ID 2 are amazing.

    Thx for uploading :)

  • My favourite game... my favourite town... my favourite music.

The best game I ever played T_T

  • The best cRPG ever!

  • Classic. This game is so damn good, I'm playing it after 7 years, and guess what? It's still better than today's games!

  • You are absolutely right.

  • I wished there was still more updates to this game, was an amazing game.

  • Yea I think the advent of 3d graphics runined the game industry. They stopped trying to impress us with story lines and depth and scope. Instead they started telling us that poly counts and lighting were way more important than a trivial thing like gameplay. I use Neverwinter Nights 1 and 2 as my examples.

  • I would be inclined to agree, except that bioware still does great games. Knights of the old republic was awesome, as was mass effect. Dragon age is likely going to be, as well. Also, the expansion pack for nwn 2, mask of the betrayer, was actually quite good.

  • Yea I agree KOTOR was a nice game but it still suffered from the clinical tile and block based graphics that happen today. In IWD or BG1&2 a building was individual, no two areas were the same, sure they used a few stock layouts but they made the effort. The towns in modern games are the same 5 house models repeated over and over. The dungeons are just tile after tile of frustratingly dull grey boring repetetive nonsense. The same damn puzzles repeated over and over with no variation.

  • IWD and games like it had heart and soul, they drew you in and consumed you leaving no room for any criticism. When you sat down to play it you felt like you were experiencing something not just mashing buttons. Everything had to be planned and carefully choreographed or you'd fail. You came to love your characters and even empathise with them. There was a golden age of gaming and we've lost it. Nowadays 90% of games are the same old rubbish, recycled, reused and re-tarded.

  • I don't know about you, but I will always play old games and even though I have a PS3 and an XBOX360 and a damn fine new PC, nothing I have played on any of them has touched every one of my senses and emotions the way the games of the past did. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna power up my N64 and rock some Ocarina Of Time.

  • Me, too. Just played through BG2 with a self made party of 4. I'm also going through planescape: torment and was thinking of starting arcanum all over again : )

  • God I hated NW1.

  • The two Addons were really good.

  • amen to that

  • beautiful soundtrack/ theme!

  • This gives you that fuzzy warm feeling.

  • The "W" in Icewind looks a bit suss.

  • lol true!

  • Damn i remember this... Best game theme !

  • EPIC.

  • Ahh it reminds me of the good days. Before the dark times...before WoW.

  • I totaly agrre with u.

  • this song is awesome...

  • Remember that.. out of the tavern, white snow.. and this music.. hell yeah..

  • Legendary game. One of the best :).

  • Man blackisle and wizard were the greatest, NWN 2 is good.. but it just lacks the flair in storytelling and atmosphere like the old IWD and BG games, those games are icons.

  • all games based on dungeons and dragons are great

  • I remember that i was staying out for hours in the first village just to listening this song.

  • Wonderfull (L) ..

  • remindes me Guildwars theme :)

    5stars too this :)

  • Yeah kinda Guild Wars, damn these themes are just awesomeness, nwn 2 really sucks compared to these man, nothing epic on it...

  • the reason might be that the composer is the same one - jeremy soule. also made oblivion music and other impressive scores as well. i tend to buy games just because they include his work by now :)

  • echhh... one word:beatiful! Bg & IW:D series have grate soundtracks! i Love those games they are just great ... arent they?

  • yes they are..

since i've heard that sound i've started to play RPG games...

If Icewind Dale would have not music like that i would never know what RPG games are!

  • want to buy icewind dale 3 x)

  • I heard this before and not in Icewind Dale. Sounds so familiar. I know this melody.

  • Perhaps it reminds you of Morrowind, another game Soule composed the soundtrack to? At least I confused the two themes sometimes.

  • Truly, this makes Nobue Uematsu shiver in his boots... IWD had the greatest soundtrack ever, and it is even a great piece of music as such, beyond the boundaries of video game music.

...AND it was a great game. One of the first pc rpgs I have played...

  • Amen to that

  • Yeah, a very good game, though the Baldur's gate series is the king of the pc rpg:s. :)

  • does anyone have kuldahar theme?

  • Beautiful....

  • Man, I remember I got stuck in that undead place, right outside of Kuldahar.. I made it through the rest though :P

    Great game, epic music ^_^

  • I remember when I fisrt listened to this wonderful theme...it captured me...perhaps the best soundtrack theme I have ever listened...

  • So peaceful ^_^ Icewind Dale was my favorite RPG next to BG1... I think my favorite villian in the game was Presio, that one snake-mage lady who kept summoning those zombies ;P (and no I don't mean the demon lady with the scimitars and yuan-ti >.>)

  • wow!! makes me remember the days of IWD...

  • 5 stars i love this music!!!!!

  • aye, tis a truly great theme. one of soule's best... gives me the bumps of a goose!

  • wicked
