I've always admired Sally Field and still do. She truly is ageless- I see her now and still get the feeling of having a schoolboy crush on her, just as I did when I first caught her in Gidget when it seemed to catch fire in the 1980s in reruns and I was in high school. That show got me through a lot of rough times- Sally's Gidget was so upbeat and intelligently dealt with whatever came her way, it just seemed to give me a way to deal with whatever came my way as well. Quite a few of us...
@averypack13 I always had VERY vague memories of The Girl With Something extra, which had Sally having ESP. I wish someone would re-run that one at least on a one-shot sort of deal.
I love Sally Field and she is brilliant and sweet. I heard a rumor that Steven Spielberg had made a decision for her to star in the LINCOLN movie along with Liam Neeson.
Crystal Lee Sutton, the REALNorma Rae, passed away Sept. 11, 2009 after a long battle with brain cancer. It is ironic because after fighting her whole life for rights of working Americans, her health insurance wouldnt cover the medications she needed. She went two months without possible life-saving medications because her insurance wouldnt cover it.
Seems her insurance coroporation got between her and her doctor to ration her medical care.
Oh, that's a Janis Ian song, "At Seventeen". It was a hit. I don't know whether that's the original with Janis singing but the arrangement puts it at the right time frame.
Sally Field is my idol! I love her. She is my favorite actress. She's a teen star who grew up with alot of grace and class. She is like you said a legend.
That's a shame! Seen any episodes of the brilliant Brothers and Sisters on at the moment? She is great as the family matriarch in that, funny and talented and still looking amazing in her sixties...
Mrs. Gump was the least of the roles she palyed. 1965 was a flip year. B?W to color. Change in tv programming. Everything seemed to change that year. Find more of her clips from years ago and I swear that Mrs. gump image will never show up again.
What a beautiful song...such memories of the ones that did not fit in...thank God there were shows where one could fit in....at least for 30 minutes anyway...Sally still looks the same...it's amazing......MANY THANKS FOR POSTING
Please tell me the name of the artist and song. Very nice music and reflective of teenage years. She was before my times though. If I were to watch 1 or 2 episodes of Gidget which ones would you recommend? Thanks in advance.
Okay, I'll admit something. I had a very serious crush on her when I was 11. I still have her album of songs she sang on the Flying Nun. We got a lot of things to do....
I would give anything to see Sally Field's 1971 TV movie Maybe I'll Come Home in the Spring posted on youtube. Anyone?
She was awesome in that - she played a High School girl in an uptight and dysfunctional upper middle class family who runs away with hippies and takes acid and sleeps with David Carradine. It's a kick ass movie.
What an interesting choice of background music. Sally appears, on the surface, to have everything that Janis Ian lamented. However, she suffers from depression and feelings of inadequacy. At age 60, she still looks just as good as ever. Always has been my favorite actress.
Thank you so much for posting this-- She has been a screen presence in my world since I was 8. what a wonderful compilation. When my daughter comes home hating her job as a mega store cashier I will tell her, "even Sally Field had to be The Flying Nun before she was Nora Walker. Sally is supreme. . . and let me spread her message too: "If mothers ruled the world there WOULDN'T BE ANY GODDAM WARS!"
"If mothers ruled the world, there wouldn't be any -" Emmy winner Sally Field said before the Emmycast cut her off her sound and pointed the camera away from the stage so viewers would be distracted. Cut off were the words "wars in the first place."
"If mothers ruled the world, there wouldn't be any god -" Emmy winner Sally Field said before the Emmycast cut her off her sound and pointed the camera away from the stage so viewers would be distracted. Cut off were the words "god-damned wars in the first place."
her speech at Emmy's last night was FAN tastic. FOx should never have censored her. why are we fighting a war for democracy and freedom when at home FOX censors free speech? You go Sally!
sally field is a beauty why the song ,sounds like you are very jelious of her and are not a beauty so you want to put her in your world!! not going to happen she is a beauty and successful the only pity is your poor taste!!!! that tell more about you than sally, get a life
My favorite Sally Field saying is from Norma Rae, and I think about it everything when I bring to light an injustice:
" No! I'm staying right where I am. And it is going to take the Police Department and the Fire Department and the National Guard to get me out of here!"
sally field looks so much like my mother...
