i think that this match will officially keep marlon off the drafts of innistrad for a while, unfortunatey. hope he accepts the fact that draws are draws and sometimes you can't always draw the cards you need. happens to me all the time, seemingly. good job drafting marlon! appreciate your funny comments and great gameplays. will be waiting for your next awesome innistrad draft.
NIce draft, shame to not get to see another match with that deck. Have been dreaming about something like that in some of my drafts... I don't think you should have conceded though, that final game.. you were still in it if you could kill the second skirsdag...which you woould have drawn the dead weight for... in time I think..
Just drop the alchemist t4 and force him to kill it asap. you already have the wolf under control with your 1/4. Seems like you wasted a turn and a card to get in for 1 dmg.
green dick is better than blue dick, sadly Marlon you played very poorly. Your sideboard was good and your deck in general was decent, you didn't play around any of his spells and in general didn't conserve your lifetotal as well as you could have.
yeah? you want to give some examples? I played the entire match to preserve my life total and the only spell he played has nightbirds clutch. Get a clue
@DraftMagic My bad, I wrote a longer reply but it didn't fit within the character limit, so I ended up saying inaccurate things. You didn't play very poorly, but you could have played better and you played around some of his spells, but maybe could have done a better job of that as well. Even if you take some of my suggestions into account you could have still lost. t4 skaab attack not worth it (your deck is not going to win by trading 1 for 1), t5 attack with rats is iffy (continued)
@fmakofmako the way I see you winning is playing around his cultist or torch by letting him trade his creatures or cards on things other than undead alchemist and then sticking an alchemist through a combat step and getting some blockers, playing moan or mauler and going bigger, or using noble to incrementally get ahead. The way I see you not losing to his removal is to not have noble or alchemist die as well as not getting burned out by cultist/rage thrower (didn't see first game).
@fmakofmako Sadly you not attacking and trading damage means the game lasts longer, which means he gets more creatures in play and since you're not attacking then he's mostly not attacking as well so there are no trades and whatnot, hence it makes you soft to cultist and ragethrower, but you can't do much about that and can only hope you draw one of your 2 deadweights or 3 victims in order to beat those cards. The t5 attack with rats opens you up to nightbird/crossway with little benefit.
@fmakofmako Anyways at this point that is only 2 damage saved on both sides, so there's a pretty small effect, but I'm being unnaturally verbose so that this can be a discussion rather than an insultfest. The t6 mill was pretty great since you removed threats that could get around skaab. t7 was a really hard decision to play the alchemist, it saved you some damage in the short term, but basically forced you to lose a win condition. I am pretty sure you should not have played it.
@fmakofmako So it turns out you'd be at 9 life by t8, even if you didn't play undead alchemist assuming he didn't follow the same line, which given that he had one card remaining after that turn would have decent odds. At which point you'd be facing 6 points of cultist burn assuming you don't draw one of your 4 remaining real removal spells. Additionally you would have been able to attack with the skaab after playing alchemist and victim and hopefully had gotten a zombie token in return.
@fmakofmako The attack is fine, because unless he could play a crossway vampire/ nightbird you could block perfectly and it forces him to use some of his cultist burn on undead alchemist. I suppose you could not attack with skaab but you'd be getting no value on it and basically without a removal spell you'd be dead by burn in at least 5 turns. Later he plays a second cultist which changes the math on that, but drownyard + alchemist would have been something he couldn't overlook anyways.
@fmakofmako So eventually you start playing forbidden alchemy on your turn, which gives him a slight information advantage and if you had drawn an additional removal spell (3 remaining at this point) you could have had a chance to win (regardless of my other suggestions). At this point he had 2 crossway vampires dead and had already used a nightbird clutches, so I doubt he'd have the opportunity to play anything else that would have been able to get around your unbreathing horde.
@fmakofmako So if you victim the cultist and play your horde, then you have an additional turn to see what happens, which as it turns out still means you would have lost since you drew an island (gone to 3 on your turn, drew an island and gone to 1, drew a deadweight and died regardless), but if you had 2 more life then it changes that and the ghoulcallers chant would have been huge. If he had an additional cultist or ragethrower then you're kinda screwed, but they're uncommon.
@DraftMagic Whoops I don't know how to make my comments show up in the right order, but there's the clue. I'd like to know what you think about my other comments and not my first one, since the first one makes me seem like a homicidal brute rather than a civilized scholar.
@fmakofmako One last thing: A t4 undead alchemist would have been nice too, although retrospectively we know you'd have only gotten in a skaab attack (or villagesmith block) and drownyarding, but a priori it is only soft to blazing torch and could be a game ender right there. After all my play suggestions, I think this is probably the best.
@fmakofmako edit: if you attack with skaab then either he lets one through or trades skaab for either blocker (I assumed villagesmith, but kessig wolf might be better), but apriori without completely knowing the other guy's deck it seems really good because it removes cultist fodder, torch holders, (ragethrown dudes), and puts a zombie in your yard.
I hoped that I can se an other match with this great deck! Very nice draft.

Cool deck, but that doesn't automatically mean you win, even if you're the superior player.
That's what's cool about magic. You have a chance, regardless.
Oh, and I'm not saying your opponent wasn't a good player.
