  • the title of this video should be "how to overstate circuit bending." its fuckin with circuitry to make killer sounds. end.

  • @skunker505 hahahahaha! yea the overstating is all quite ironic though, even ghazala isn't as serious as he sounds ;)

  • its like "wow" but u cant listen to it too long

  • When this video was first posted 4 years ago, me and my friends were in Grade 10 and we'd get stoned and watch this and totally freak out at both the bizarre noises and bizarre people on display here.

  • I call it noise in my house.

  • oh, I see, it's stoners with soldering irons

  • Is that the guy from 'not breathing'?

  • @artblack01 yes

  • I'm sorry i don't get this "Circuit Bending" thing. These Noises...Not supposed to exist?? I'm sure you people have played NES before or some arcade games, all these noises are in those games! So your changing patterns of circuit noises? This isn't a form of creation, its just another way computer people waste time trying to recreate something that exist out of computer technology. In this example music..... and the list goes on.

  • Neat!

  • maybe they do have real jobs they are not on the streets and this is fascinating!thanks for the post, I love this stuff.

  • Wow, this is actually quite fascinating to me!

  • I wish I knew how to Circuit bend. -___- ... It looks really cool.

  • LMAO 3:05 "these things exist that arent suppose to exist, that you can bring into existance" i love some good philosophy just as much as the next guy, but seriously? pure philosphical masturbation right there

  • @Shr3dMast3r sarcasm ;)

  • Daedelus !!!!

  • @DrRek thanks for deleting the comments. I didn't post it 45 times, I just posted it once, then it said there was an error, so I tried it again and then gave up.

  • awesome.

d rock. hope the bent fest is kickin this year times square style "bring les miserables to dumbo!" question- is that Qubase in ESI in cleveland or some other surplus electronics in columbus etc>??

  • @petermopar its a place in dayton, i forgot the name, its is ghazala

  • How about you guys learn to play a real instrument and get a woman!

  • just a bunch of hippies messing around with kids' toys. how but getting something like uhh i don't know, A REAL JOB??

  • @Vicky867 how about doing something more productive than posting this same comment 45 times (i deleted most the rest, job done for you ;)

  • just a bunch of hippies messing around with kids' toys. how but getting something like uhh i don't know, A REAL JOB??

  • just a bunch of hippies messing around with kids' toys. how but getting something like uhh i don't know, A REAL JOB??

  • These guys are rad and you know it!

  • that one guy has to be daedelus now famous..

  • the outro music is fucking amazing.

  • What's the song that plays at the end? It's good

  • I'm gonna have to try this now, good thing my dad has everything I will need except a circuit to use :D

  • I know reed ghazala good friend of my dads he is A FUKON GENIOUS

  • Chuck norris make circuit bending with his moustache! XD

Excellent video! I will get my old casio and toys and bend them now ^^)

  • do u still live with your parents

  • @tonycorvi1234

    nope, how about you?

  • fucking ill.

  • great video!

  • i wanna learn

  • I tried bending a small keyboard and killed it. I'm about to take a drum-pad / beat synth apart .. it will probably die too .. but I hope not.

  • anything connected to the main just dont fuck with it

  • bbbbooooorrrrriiiiiiiinnnnnnnnngggggggg

  • er......."nerd alert"

although now I wish i hadnt given away my old sk-5 :(

  • @psychwarlord I'm an IT guy, grew up with computers since the 80's... but ehm... this is just scaring me, the nerdiness of these people. O_o

  • fuckin' goof hahaha

  • @Noisechannelvoid grain of salt dude, i think you are the one who is being too serious

  • what is wrong with her legs at 2:10

  • I'm sorry but this is so fucking stupid. Instead of taking apart your little sisters toys to make some retarded static sound go buy a EMS VCS 3 synthesizer you cheep moron.

  • proud of your first buy? you unimaginative hack, you.

  • Proud of your first instrument? You could circuit bend it as well. Throwing in "little sister" to to try to offend more intelligent people has little, if any merit.

  • gator clips are my best friends

  • LOL I think it os pretty cool.

And just a note, to all those who are instaulting and just being rude, how do u think the first piano was seen as. Or the first Guitar, Both were seen as "just sounds" until they were more used. And then look into the closer past, look at the electric guitar? and then also the synthisiser pedals. like really its the beginning settle down, maybe this will be the next big thing in the music world

  • Circuit Bending= Rapping all the electronic toys I loved from my childhood and making them sound like crap for no good reason.

  • I want to circut bend my MIND!

  • whats the song in the end of the movie ??

  • cool i use to spit on my fingers and take stuff apart and touch stuff i didnt know tehre was an actual name for that lol

  • well...it may sound like noise to you...but honestly all mordern electronic music starts out as noise....and random sounds.....once you record it and bring it into a sequencer or daw then chop it up and stuff...thats when you start making music with it....you can get some crazy psychedelic sounds from this stuff...i really wanna learn to do this...so that along with my regular synths i can also have some cheap home made crazy sound generators....cooooollll

  • i think its fuckin awsome ima b doing it very soon ^.^ idgaf wut people say

  • i need to be more careful when i circuit bend. ive broken the last 3 things i bent haha. well the first 2 broke after i soldered them because it was my first time soldering. and the last thing, a casio keyboard broke after i crossed 2 circuits that caused a spark. then it stopped working

  • y not just listen to sum heavy dubstep instead of making random noise that no1 wants to hear

  • 2:31 anyone know where this animation is from or who made it?

  • @gubsisgood it's by my good and amazingly talented pal corey jackson

  • looks like something you'd find on Sundance.

  • @POKOHelba that would be nice, funding anyone?

  • yer a basically playin with spirits unknown in that toy, and coaxing them out with yer witchycraft. its what started the salem witch trials, but this is modern and more badder. Gotta watch them casio products too, they're already possessed and can take over the "user".

  • @Locust1313 hahahah

  • It does't sound like noise, it is noise, i don't really get this, maby i'm just a foul but that girl talking about understanding those electronics, whell they do what they are designed to do, by bending it you just break it and sounds like hell.

  • Yeah, I don't think you got it, but this is clearly just a joke.

  • @toGatherThinskin it is quiet amusing, and many of us are quite sardonic about the whole thing, but it is also an artform son

  • i Circuit Bent my gameboy color once and i tried to Circuit Bend A Toaster once and it kinda a worked!

  • the worlds most useless skill has been unearthed. congrats

  • Now I'm ashamed to use circuit bending.

    These hippies ruin it.

"We change the organism and let it bleed differently..." Jesus f. christ...

  • @TheAstronomican again, you are the one who is too serious, ever heard of deadpan sarcasm?

  • Dude, this is soooo lame, hey it's your right to do it, but it just seems like a failer attempt at music for Fucked up drug addicts that are too fucked up to play real music, like they don't want to take the time, a fucking hand drum is 1000X more musical than this. I can tap with my fingers and show more talent than this bullshit. Pick up a guitar with it, and you might get some respect, again, whatever floats your boat, I just want to say that I don't fucking get it, it sounds terrible.

  • its tommy chong at 3:59.

  • im not interested in this, but i would pretend to be if the girl with the plastic guitar was telling me about it. otherwise, ill just throw glass bottles on pavement and listen to them break.

  • 3:32 sounds like the Line 6 FM4 growler

  • you have to be on acid or mushrooms for this shit to be cool. weed is not enough!

  • can somone bend a microkorg i think it would be cool but i dont wana break mine

  • @GuernB2 would be tough, circuitry is all small and complex, but someone with the guts probably could

  • 3:15 splainsitall.

  • 0:22 is just insane XD

  • If you wanna circuit bend, download or buy the book called "Circuit Bending; creating your own Alien Instruments" by Qubais Reed Ghazala - the father of circuit bending - he's the Iraqi in the vid.

  • @Tripbag indeed the book is most quality! highly recommended starting point for any newbies and great for lovers of the craft as well

  • whats he bending at 3:27

  • It seems to me that circuit bending would be beneficial to industrial rock bands.

  • @RockinDave29672 NIN are proud owners of many dave wright originals

  • the first thing i bent was a drum machine that plugged into the wall.i made some cool sounds out of it but i connected 2 many wires and it blew.now i just stick to battery powered circuits, they're alot safer

  • @deco2468 hard lesson learned dude, keep at it

  • That woman has 3 legs!!!

    3:46

  • These just seem to be people who dont understand circuits

  • theres nothing to circiut banding, really. youre just touching two points together with gator clips and seeing what makes noise.

  • Very very interesting

  • 4:56 hahaha

  • Awesome video!

  • they power these circuits with different voltages then what they are supposed to run at. most of the time the sound chip will malfunction and sound weird. you can also jump pins on IC chips that were never meant to be jumped, sometimes they blow up some times they sound weird. which is what they are looking for.

  • "There's the mystery."

".... where's that sound coming from?"

  • 0:40 is pretty sweet

  • This is stupid..

  • its cool. but parellel universes??? fucking idiot

  • Yes, that is Daedelus! Also, that turtle looking dude with the lazy eye is looking into it a little too much. Personally, I just want to see what kind of crazy sounds I can make. Hopefully sample some.

  • @anastu dave wright is a master of deadpan irony and you guys don't notice and think he's "serious" about what he is saying

  • I love those crazy sounds, keep on trucking!!!

    :-)

  • hahaha my favorite is at 0:20

  • @LIGHTRONIX indeed that was a most absurd day with daedelus and jeff

  • These people are hipsters and hipsters think everything they do is profound and revolutionary. It's a hipster's job to take what's already been done and use their "special fashion powers" to blind the masses into thinking they're creative and special. Please don't let them fool you. No one says anything useful in this video. It's an illusion.

  • @xmortlyx your a hipster! hahaha

  • this is not music, this is garbage

  • A hobby for nerds with no electronics knowledge and a tone deaf ear who just want to make horrible annoying noises.

  • whats that your bending at 0:25

  • looks like the back of a keyboard

  • @HarryBlach yamaha PSS-460

  • no seriously how do you circuit bend

  • that's what i was wondering. i seriously want to bend!

  • take apart an electronic toy and start shorting the circuit

  • @HarryBlach look for chips on whatever your bending stay away from anything bigger than the head of a matchstick buy some alligator clips

  • @HarryBlach not that hard actually. just take th object you want to circuit bend, and take the back off you you have the part of the circuit board that has all the silver dots and the then take a test lead (a wire with alligator clips on both sides) and then touch them in random places on the circuit board. do this when the device is making sound by taping down a button etc anything that makes it sustain sound production. i know this is a crude tutorial i have typed up, but you can research more

  • @HarryBlach and DO NOT try to circuit bend things plugged into a wall outlet.

  • alligator clips,,, starting point,,, start attaching to pother points,,, andmake notes of interesting results in the sound,,, add potentimeters between points you enjoy,,, one tip : only do this on battery powered toys not wall poowered cos you can electrocute yourself easily when bending

  • this may be interesting to the person who is doing it...but let's face it...it's just fucking noise...it's not art, it's not nice to hear...it's just retarded...get a job idiots...

  • do you have any idea what they actually do with this?

They record it and cut it and make it into loops and use the sounds generated to make songs. don't be a failure.

  • Maybe you should get a job rather than posting pointless negative comments on something that has absolutely no baring on your life. Your comments say far more about you than them.

  • Its about experimenting and creating new sounds. Not to mention fun to do.

    So shut the fuck up.

  • To some it is nice to hear. Perhaps not to you. And yeah it is just noise. Noise is music

  • It's noise, yes.

    Art? Eh, thats an overstatement.

But most of all, it's fun.

    YOU idiot.

  • ha that probibly is their job, electrical engineers or somethin.

  • wow, you are a fool, truly a fool.

  • well sometimes it sound kind of cool

  • art is whatever you want it to be really.

there was this exhibition somewhere in europe where this artists tied up this dog n let it suffer.. i dont agree with that but your obviously not an artist that why you think in terms of jobs and idiots and retards.. haha.

  • you can record that fucking noise then chop it up to tiny bits, sequence it or whatever and included in your mix,it's not retarded,it's quite intriguing

  • you're so 1956... congrats.

  • they're nerds of the highest kind, they probably have well paying jobs

  • cause rusvi1 can define art! fuck you honch

  • Well, actually... if you wanna split hairs, statically random noise is actually quite informative to the subconscious mind... And there is no one definition of the term "Art". So... yeah.

  • yeah rusvi1 you rule.its not the taxman or the cops its those circuit benders that are always bringing me down.look in the mirror next time you are trying to define retard

  • get a job?is that the best your little pea brain can come up with?what does a job have to do with it?what are you doing that you have so much spare time to sit here and insult people and concepts you know nothing about.

  • @Rusvi1 You sound very uninspired... There is an array of amazing sounds demonstrated in this video that can be very effective in making electronic music... In regards to your other point I prefer a career rather than a job. Having a career as an electronic musician, doing something that is creative is much better than "having a job" in my opinion. Sound design is an amazing field. Just check out Ben Burtt, who is responsible for sounds in Star Wars and Wall-E.

  • I love circuit bending but I get a little thrown of when people throw in the whole psychedelic aspect. It's just plain fun when it comes down to it and you can produce some really cool unexpected sounds. I'm not trying to create an organism or anything or discover parallel worlds.

  • why all the hatin? let nerds be nerds. Nerds play "real instruments" too. Remember the 80's...malmsteen??? hmmmm

  • is that daedelus?

  • Yes

  • Yes, its in the credits.

  • yup dat be him

  • I was thinking the same thing.

  • All you need are some circut boards, wires, and a fuckin nerd to put it together for you.

  • you're a fuckin' nerd, if you watched this video! don't be dissing us like that!!!!!!

  • regresate al cielo donde se ubica tu planeta, el planeta idiota. ignorant wankjob.

  • that's how all electronic instruments are made, very good deduction.

  • just sounds like noise. play a real instrument.

  • Agreed! It sounds like shit, sorry, I have a pretty open mind when it comes to music, I even respect turntables as an instrument, but this just sounds terrible, it's music for the people who don't know what music is, couldn't keep a beat if their life depended on it, and can't play it.

  • @elcielo1981 Don't wanna sound rude but I probably will: Padon me, but you sound boring and uninspired... By the way I play several instruments professionally and this is fascinating to me. Also, I've always disliked the word "nerd" being used in a derogatory manner. Since when is being smart considered bad? Without nerds we'd still be living in the stone age. Thank God for such "nerds" as Newton, Einstein and Tesla!...

  • i wonder if anyone has ever tried to circuit bend a tv...

i wonder if anyone's stupid enough XD

  • It's called videobending.

  • TV's, or at least CRT TV's carry VERY high voltage.. I would not recommend...

  • this is really weird.

  • 3:57 to 4:03 lol

  • YEAH!!! TRIPLE YEAH!!!! FUCK, YEAH!!! can anyboday pleeeeeease tell me the name and/or artist of the last song?? i loves it too bad

  • 1:55 - 2:00 nice work lol

Iv'e done that sort of job on a old sega and Guitar thing i found at target lol

Solder and 24 gauge wires lol

    Nice video lol

  • oh that motherfucking Venetian Snares, I KNOW HIS TRICK NOW!!!!

  • There is no trick. Appreciation for Aaron Funk.

  • Ion Divvy!!

  • Comment removed

  • I like the idea of circuit bending, and think it's pretty cool, but the only person I saw that didn't seem to be full of himself and his "creative genius" was the dude in black with long hair. I REALLY can't stand "artists" with their heads up their asses.

  • I am bending my computer while watching this.

  • Thanks for the good laugh.

  • lol @ guy at 1:22 hahahah

  • i want to try it but all of these people are freaks and i might turn out like them!

  • can u get ZAPPED?!?!

  • they look all kinda nerd but they make so awsome things , i didnt imagine a furby or a keyboard make so cool things, really i whana learn to do this

  • I've just right now pulled the back out of my '94 roland keyboard (oh yeah) and have no idea how to circuit bend...do I just need some wires? then play with different connections? do I need anything else?

  • OMG! That's John Talaga!!!!!!

  • i smell a new music genre!!

  • i wont lie

these are some of the creepiest nerdiest people ive ever seen in my life

    but it sounds kinda cool

  • circuit bending is a waste of time for people with circuity skills, why would you spend time fucking around with a kids toy to make it sound like somekind of demented nightmare...

  • hehe. Whole new meaning to someone telling you to "get bent"...

  • if you are watching this video and still not inspired then you are not stoned enough yet

  • the guy at 3:15

is he a venetian snares fan?

  • "its broken. No its a new feature, ship it!" love that thats how every one should think.

  • i almost feel retarded watching it !!

  • I love how this could be practically a new religion.

  • or TV show.

    AVATAR: THE LAST CURCUIT BENDER!

  • Man most of the guys in this video are so pretentious and dramatic. It's just fun, they should stop trying to be all fucking arty and poetic about it!! - Still, I think from reading the comments that most people have good fun attitude towards it. Peace.
