I loved it for the music and the visuals. Every shot could've been in an editorial. The storyline and acting failed HARD. But I don't know if he really thought that part through completely. It seemed like he had a few statements he wanted to bring to life but not a movie. Definitely a good attempt to recapture his talent as a visual artist while showing off his new music.
Beautifully shot, visually stunning, crazy as hell. It's also funny that you mention Prince. Thinking Kanye might be coming out with his own Purple Rain soon.
The imagery was beautiful. I liked the ballet scene and the crispness of the visuals.....but Kanye's acting was so horrible I had to laugh when he was at that dinner table. Transitions between scenes could have been better...sometimes it felt like the music was popping out of nowhere....and in some parts it looked like he was trying to make it weird on purpose, lol. but all in all it was pretty cool, I was entertained to say the least, lol.
Yup I didnt really care for runaway. The tracks either, but I admit they were the best part. Respect the concept tho, I mean damn I got plenty of movie ideas for tracks I produced and for kanye to make it happen is somethin special. But runaway was a bit of a mess. The distortion was gettin overused too. Nice review Phonte!
Agreed man I was feeling some of the tracks but the film aspect not so much. I give him props for putting himself out there, but that is the risk you take. People will either love it or hate it.
Why is Black Jesus up there? Lol. Yo on the real you and Aaron should collab on something. Idk what but that shit would be great.
