  • not dising the blaster cuz i like the bike, but is there any way to make the front end look any better or atleast make it so it doesnt sould like a diesleing lawnmower?

  • @codyh1990 The pipes I know of make it a louder dieseling lawnmower! :P I suppose you could return the heavier, uglier, less power producing, but quieter stock one on it. You have to like thumpers to dig the exhaust note. There are a bunch of fairings that fit round headlights, you can check those out. I use an Airblade Bubble fairing on my Buell S1 currently.

  • what did you have to do to hook up the tach to the bike?

  • @ReagansJellyBeans I had to use the inductive sensor, just like you'd use on a handheld tach. I tried using the pink tach wire as per online sources and the electrical diagrams, but I couldn't get it to work.

  • when this beast is turned off, can you shift into any gear without clutch?

  • @mcskatin I sold it a few years back, but man I can't remember if I could or not, is your clutch slipping?

  • @tjw253 no but its getting hard to pull but i just wanna teach my friend to ride it and he is TERRIFIED of the clutch lol i told him without clutch, its gonna jerk alot more but he said he could handle that. (hes not very coordinated haha)

  • @mcskatin If that is all true about him... I'd tell him to stick to the lawnmowers

  • Howdy! I purchased this Buell for my son's 18th bday and now in its third season, I attribute most of that to the care the previous owner took of the bike. To answer a lot of posts at once, yes you can shift through the gears freely with the bike off, yes it is the perfect beginners bike - I started with a 74 CB175, 80 KAW 400, & v4 1100 Interceptor and this by far is an easier ride, more comfortable and low center of gravity. Plus its loud, it sounds like a hog and it gets instant respect!

  • i just got this tach, i was wondering how you mounted it. thanks. p.s. its going on my blast

  • If you take a close look at the vid, I've got their standard mount on there, but used zip ties to secure it. The sucker stayed on there even through my wreck!

  • Buzzkillor, your name is true, did you get a bad one? I'm 6'3" and had room to take bags on road trips. The only maitenance I did was from an upgrade on the rocker box gasekts, plus regular oil changes and tires. Plus, getting up to 95 mph on just 27 hp is awesome, haha. Oh and Nighhawks are drum brakes, stopping with those things is a squeeze the lever and pray it slows down.

  • there's a reason why harley only uses these things a season and sells em, while MSF courses running nighthawks keep em for decades. Much more powerful.. much more of a pain.

  • Its a good beginner bike if you're short. I got one for my wife, but I can barely ride it. Its too small for me at 6'2". My knees interfere with the bars. I can barely get my feet on the pegs and the suspension bottoms out.

It will also help drain your pocket book or teach you maintenance. Engine mounts are changed with oil.. as is the carb coupler. the auto carb fails easily too. Great if you find one not running. One or more of those will fix it cheaply.. Unless you bring it to harley.

  • @buzzkillor is it too small for real? I was about to buy one for a deal but if its going to be hard riding it then forget it. I'm 6'4

  • are these bikes good beginner bikes?

  • I think so, I actually started on dual sports, but this was my first street bike, and I loved it. Sad to see it go, but had to make room for the new one.

  • Harley Davidson uses them for all beginners during their Riders Edge course.

One better thing to remember is, they're made of 60% plastic. If you wreck it, you buy a new piece and put it on, or trim the section off and go on your merry way.

I wrecked mine a week ago because of gravel, and only hurt the windshield with small scratches, and broke the outter lens on the turn signal. Turn signal bent backwards because it's rubberized. PERFECT for beginners, is what I'm trying to say. :)

  • @BDdrummer I'm 14 and last night I rode my dad's blast super easy!

  • where'd you get the tach for single cylinder?

  • JC Whitney has them, made by Equus, $70, it has both standard signal hookup and inductive pickup (which is the method I used). Works great, easy wiring, and has stood up to the weather so far!
