  • 2:10 godly... its like two flute are playing :O

  • love the camera angles spinning around and around...i dont get motion sickness but i find it completely pointless

  • ...Wow!...

  • what a silly video despite the great performance

  • lo amo!

  • Beautiful, would love to learn that piece....

  • Bach = genius, Pahud = genius, camera/direction = idiot: made me motion sick!

  • The best flutist ever! I just adore the way he plays!! I would stay hours and just listen him play!!

    -Mary

  • I wish the camera could stop spinning. Completely unnecessary.

  • Brilliant!! His tone is just that awesome!!! My idol!! :)

  • Orgasmic...My mind is thinking: 'If this were live...after he played for me I would rip his clothing off.' O.O

  • Unbelievable!

  • I must say, I'm a fan.

  • The cutting of this video is worse than mtv...

  • The audio is great, but the video makes you dizzy.

  • Fantastico!

  • ONE M0:00RE TIIME <3

  • My favorite part is 1:42-1:55. I <3 PAHUD!!!!

  • 4 people have no taste in music.

  • This video isn't long enough for me. ~♥

  • @450023887 The worst part of this video was after 2:38 ;)

  • great Emmanuel !

  • Spectaclular

  • went to one of his flute masterclasses today! he is a genius!

  • @YeahItsHollyXX i am so jelous of you!

  • he has the best tone quality i've ever heard...wow

  • Huge fan of Pahud but not so much of his Bach. That said, this was pretty spectacular.

  • emmanuel pahud eres mi nuevo erue tocas super bnn

  • Such gorgeous playing! I think I have found a new idol.

  • Me encanta :)

  • His playing is gorgeous! Profound!

  • @flutefelicity Yes, isn't it? High 5. ;) We need more cute profound guy flute players in the world, don't we? Haha!

  • @flutegirly321 wiki: "Pahud has two sons, Grégoire and Tristan, from a former marriage." /spit

  • Has no-one else realised he's not actually playing it in the video?

  • so this is what a professional flute player sound like hmmm cool I have been playing flute for 3 years and my band teacher told me to listen to a professional who plays my instrument and i must say this is great!

  • Such beautiful music in a dirty old warehouse..

  • omfg, i want that flute !! And your smartness in music!!!

    *jelous*

  • simply gorgeous............

  • one handsome flute player !!

  • One tubaist watched this video....

  • Wooden flute would sound much better ... and it was written for it ...

  • @violinoamore

Pahud makes metal flutes resonate with a deepness of sound that a wooden flute could never achieve.

A wooden flute would make it sound more rustic and baroque, which is DIFFERENT. Not better.

  • @tomypaes A deepness of sound that a wooden flute could never achieve? Where did you get this one from? The word rustic sounds kind of derogatory in this contest, but anyway.... Baroque flutes are so different from Bohm ones that the material won't make the sound significantly close imo (maybe just a little "closer", but not "close")

  • @othannen

Of course - Anyone who has played both flutes can notice that the resonant silver sound from the Boehm Flute is something that the other flute cannot physically achieve. Not derogatory - Its characteristic

  • @ThomSleepCycle Of couse, a wooden flute can't get a resonant SILVER sound for sure...!

  • @othannen What kind of flute is this?

  • @davidgon98 I asked Pahud at the Manchester flute convention... he said "it is my trusty Altus with an Arista headjoint" he seemed like a down to earth sort of guy, but he plays the flute like a super human!

  • @jackfirminger thank you.

  • @davidgon98 Glad I was able to help, best wishes to you!

  • @davidgon98 Believe he plays on a Brannen

  • @dasteufelhund Well I don't know about what he normally plays on but I do know the only flute manufacturer who makes a gold mechanism and tone holes is Nagahara which is what that flute looks like.

  • @teichiboy He normally plays on a 14k Brannen with Sheridan headjoint, and this video is him with that flute. Do some research first because based on what you said, revealed you don't know mcuh about the flute manufacturing industry.

  • @dasteufelhund I'm sorry when I posted that I meant say 20k which the sound was dark and centered enough btu then again it is Pahud it will sound brilliant either way

  • @teichiboy if it is a 20k gold flute he's playing on, even top players would find themselves have to put out more than what they're used to to get the air moving, to get that dense metal to respond. Certainly as you said, he would find a way to make it work, and sound brilliant regardless.

  • @tomypaes Actually, his sound is not consider as "resonant", because his sound does not have the wide harmonic partials. I don't know where you get that "wooden flute could never achieve with the resonance Pahud plays", but wooden flutes are very much capable of resonant tone.

  • this is dubbed right?

  • Who is the only fool who dislikes this???!

  • I'm so dizzy now!

  • Bravo!

  • is he playing in playback?

  • @flautistafallito yea, im suspecting that too, you see places where he breathes and not hear a breath in the audio. plus, it doesnt look like he's blowing air through his embouchure.

  • It's a flute's dream to be touched by him n emmanuel would blow it.

  • What brand flute is he playing on?

  • @MisplacedBoxes Brannen Brothers with Sheridan headjoint

  • he is hot!!!!!

  • Mr.Pahud is just simply one of the best among all FLUTISTS of our generation.

Instead of criticism most of us should try to mutch his musicianship and virtuosity.

    Good luck...

He will be always on the top!!!

Bravo maestro! Your flowless perfomance, full of spirit and innovation in phrasing makes this art timeless.

  • it's ok i guess. ha

  • I love the acoustics from the flute in the building he's playing in. It's beautiful! Emmanuel is an awesome flautist. :)

  • Still amazes me every time. Looks fun to play like that. Incredible!!!

  • its so pretty that I can forgive the fact that the constant camera movement makes me feel sick.. =]

  • Very Gooooood pahu... Is Perfect

  • Woah. WHERE is he!?! What a weird building for a famous, professional flutist to be playing in.

  • @auroraaborealisss , it's called, art... plus the accoustics are brill in there...... high ceilings etc....

  • Wow! Amazing sound and phrasing!!!

  • Sir(s): If I may, at this Date and Time, state here how We find this piece from J. S. BACH so finely played here by Mr. Emmanuel PAHUD. We must say how this is such a dulcit and sweet sound in the once-upon-a-Time Warehouse of Roughians. Thank you very much, Sir and Mam. Merci beaucoups, Monsieurs et Madames.

  • This is awesome... it sounds so free. Pahud plays it like it would be the easiest thing in the world! And I can imagine that this piece by Bach is not easy at all! =D By the way, I'm thinking of studying by him in Geneva, when I'm finished with school.

  • per me è stupenda.

  • Fantastique!...but why the giddy camerawork? Very unnecessary.

Gutsy and intelligent playing. Perfect phrasing. This is how Bach should be played. No messing about, just understand the framework and let it sing... Wonderful wonderful!!

  • I love playing the drums and bass guitar but distinctly remembering that when I was playing my flute I thought to myself, "this is why God created us".

  • I'ts just beatiful!!

  • I'm hoping to play this soon ^_^

  • i'm hoping to play this soon. ^_^

  • Johann Sebastian Bach, Sonata in G minor for Flute and Harpsichord BVW 1020, flute Marija Spasic

  • Beautifully played. Emmanuel Pahud is indeed the best flutist in of the world :DDDD

  • he is so amazing ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

    love him!! :) :)

  • He's gorgeous!

  • Great player. The camera work I don't care for.

  • I love the sound, absolutely enchanting,

  • The music should be recorded in studio. The reverberation/echo of the room cannot be that good at a..

  • dude it's a playback. his breaths dont match the audio.

  • I think it's... the background music added to the video... no offense to Pahud, but... EXACTLY the same as his "Bach" record (with the Brandenberg concerto)...

  • It's also possible that Pahud is very consistent

    But that's just a possibility

  • the sonority of that place, it's awesome, xD! i want a place like that! MFG! Emmanuel rules!

  • dizzy.

  • aahhhhh it's making me dizzy. If I look away it's FAB!

  • Former DDR was the place of this record

  • bravo¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

    Thanks

  • nice PLAYBACK!!!!

  • How do u know it is a playback?

  • Maybe for acoustics. It's surprising sometimes, the strangest places make instruments just sing. Or maybe it was just for some kind of artistic affect... Who knows..

  • the camera movement makes me dizzy... But very nice music.

  • he played remarkably!

i think i would have found it too distracting with cameras zooming around me like that, so extra kudos haha.

ps love this piece, so beautiful, pahud brings out the different moods and beauty so well.

  • Cudownie! Genialny flecista!

  • just came back to listen to this again. I really like his performances. As for my comment below, i think he chose the rundown house because of the little echo in the background of the sound of the flute when he plays it? It sounds nice..

  • Just wondering.... why is he performing in a rundown house? A grand hotel would have been better...

  • no, i disagree. I like the juxtaposition between the sharp, clean, orderly nature of Bach set amidst the rustic nature of this environment. The contrast is beautiful and helps to fully realize the essence of the music. It goes to show that Bach's music is for everyone, everywhere, not just for stuck up bourgeois in ornate concert halls. Poignant and original direction for this video. Bravo.

  • I have to 'like' this for the sheer pretentiousness lol...

  • WHAT???

  • La interpretacion mas sublime que he escuchado!!! Es increible.... No words!!!

  • He is absolutely incredible.

I hope to play as well as him some day.

    <33

  • Bencio

Thank you so much for posting this great performance by Emmanuel Pahud.

Thank you so much nebrulla for leading me to this stylish channel.

    Antonio

  • i played this when i was in sixth grade

    i love this piece

  • you might have played this in 6th grade but obviously not as well as he does

  • he is just sublimely perfect in this recording.

if you look at his eyes, he is like in some other world of total and complete relaxation from which he derives all his inspiration.

  • this is probably the best flute playing i have ever heard.

  • That's becasue it it.

  • your footage made me dizzy! but very well played, sounds great. well done!

  • Bravo!

  • Yeah more of this!! perfect, Im trying to learn this piece and this one really showed me how to play it correctly

  • si benciolini carico tutto il film!! grazie!!
