They've fixed a lot of things since the release of FCP X, I use it to edit in 1080i and its very clear and simple, also much quicker if you have to meet a very tight deadline to meet.
I don't get it what is so bad about FCPX. I have never edited faster with its simple yet complex tools? Is it just that it is to consumer like, is that why pros don't like it?
never do a tutorial based on 24 hours with a software.. learn it first, then make a review.. if you ever need real classes let me know i can teach you a lot.

They've added a lot of stuff to FCPX in the last update. You reviewed the software right after it was released. Apple needs to see what people say about FCPX and then make changes. Honestly, I like X a lot.
Could you tell me why you don't like final cut pro x. I hate the color correction, but I want to know why you don't like it just so I know what better editors are looking for in a software. I am pretty good in after effects, but I'm not amazing in premiere so I want to know what I'm missing.

@TheApagak In the last few updates FCPX has gotten a lot better. FCP7 is gone for those who hadn't already bought it or those who installed it. If you absolutely don't like FCPX even with the updates, I would say try either Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 or Avid Media Compressor.
Well, no real surprise. Their hardware is overpriced, if you can build your own tower you can make a computer just as powerful as any mac PC you'll be planning to purchase at a quarter of it's cost. I downloaded the trial for Final cut pro x and honestly, I don't understand it. I thought Final cut was a powerful software that had really cool effects. and i couldn't even do motion tracking or a decent muzzle flash. i couldn't even delete a clip.
@TheRanger112 There should be but not anytime soon. Apple has announced that FCP11 WILL have multi cam editing though and should bring back a lot of the old interface but for now, those of us whom were stupid and uninstalled FCP7 upon the install of FCPX are screwed. I will personally stick to this program for my work but only because I'm a die hard Final Cut nerd.
Excellent review. FCP X is the worst. All those features they advertise about auto color correction and auto this and that. basically it is exactly for the beginner. similar to iMovie. for those who do not edit or just learning it is perfect. Simply because it gives you a basic program, but with stupid pre-sets. not a good program to use if you want to do professional work. once you select a pre set. a professional wants the ability to tweak it. FCP X will be dead anyway in a yr.
My observation, FCP Pro for REAL Pros, for me FCP X is cool cuz I never used the prior FCP products therefore for people that never used FCP then FCP X rocks for those who never used prior FCP products...

I agree. I watched an experienced apple tutor working on this product taking 5 times longer to do basic stuff than FCP7. I've been told that eventually everyone will go the FCPX way but it feels like swapping technical lego for duplo.
How do you get your videos to look so nice? I've watched your tutorial on the color contrasting for the "film look" but I can't get ANY of my videos to look like this.
@iTangentTV I use a crappy little JVC home camera and I don't expect it to be as good of a quality as Zach's videos but I would think there would be a way to make it look nicer than it does. I hope to get a better camera soon.
@DualShock1080P I know it seems surprising but a camera makes a lot of difference. If you start with a crappy camera it's really hard to make that footage look good. Is the camera HD? Yeah I would say the best idea is to try and invest in a better camera if you can.
@iTangentTV No its not HD. I've been looking at a few different ones though. Its going to be a while before I get one but I figured I could get better quality than I am and all I'm getting are these hideous colors.
@DualShock1080P yeah HD makes a hell of a difference it's amazing. We started out even with an flip HD camera and it was really surprising how better the quality was. I'm not really sure about those colors though we don't color correct much with out stuff so I'm not the person you want to be talking to. A lot of newer editing software though is made for HD camera footage so that might be a reason
@iTangentTV The particular camera that I'm looking at is the one on FCK's Website under Film Gear and it's $3,000 dollars. Being an unemployed 14 year old doesn't help either.

I got my refund, by the way. They gave the money back to my VISA card within a day or so of my complaint, then about 3 months later they removed it from my downloads in the app store.
i honestly don't think FCP X is the best but i was doing stuff on iMovie and wanted to get into semi serious editing and i did not have the £600 or i think it is $900 i don't know i am from the UK but i did not have the cash for that and i think it is worth it for beginner editors and for me just the keying is worth it for me cos you can do so much with that even if it is not the best way of doing an effect keying can still work also because i can get motion i think it is good for the price.
all you really say in this video is you don't like it but you don't really go into why other than no multi cam editing? that doesn't back up why you say you don't like it, in your other videos you make you need to back up what you say, not just say.. i don't like it.

@cobby001 I think so... That's what I am planning on doing. Plus it works with all of the Magic Bullet Plug ins I have installed in the old Final Cut. & from the video tutorials I've seen it has even more features & you can import your old FCP projects (export w/ XML) into Premier. It also has a similar interphase as the old FCP.

It amazes me that You are literately the only person who I have reviewed Final Cut Pro X that has NOT called it Final Cut and pronounced the letter X in the alphabet instead of calling it Final Cut Pro 10.
@gussy24 consumer software isnt $300.... it looks like imovie because the color scheme is easier on the eyes... consumers dont color correct, need the ability to sync separate recorded audio, or export as xml...

@coppersn4ke tape needs to die. its expensive and digital is superior. some tape decks are supported btw.... why would they limit it? because digital is the way to go. and external monitoring is now supported from what i have heard

Try transferring a full length feature film raw footage at 4k to a colour correction production house over the internet or transferring it onto Hard drives take you a month unless you have 100gb/s download/upload or a secret usb 10.0 that hasnt been released. also try multicamera editing live in final cut X total joke. btw tapes are much cheaper in the long run then having to but 100s of hard drives esp in distribution perspective. and dvds/ blue ray dont have enough space.
@eyeofinfinity we are talking post production here not filming besides 35mm is better if you can afford it which is a big if. RED camera is good but yeah has nothing to do with post production. once its on the computer its on the computer (unless you do it old school style). Almost every single placed use digi tapes. To not support them literally cuts off the majority of post production and distribution places in the world.

@eyeofinfinity and as for external monitors it only supports secondary screens not external broadcast monitors (the big rear projection "old school" ones). Which really is pointless since now u cant do colour correction since LCDs etc dont display true colour. therefore its not suitable for broadcasters. It should be renamed imovie pro not FCPX

its not developing its undeveloped. I dont understand where youre coming from when you say that yet clearly they did away with EVERYTHING that justified even putting the PRO in final cut. instead on imoviepro maybe final cut basic or something like that.
What amazed me, was the fact that he knew all about the workings of Final Cut 10 within 24 hours of seeing it, that is what I call a quick learner. I wish I had that ability I would buy all the software ie Adobe, Avid etc with the knowledge that in less than a week I could use them all, therefore have no editing problems at all.
Okay for you and other schooled pros I totally agree, however, for me coming from Pinnacle Pro Studio this is an absolute natural upgrade for me and will make my job of editing my family vacation videos and school play videos SO much easier!!! I think I might even be able to make some half way decent commercials or short promo videos. But for large projects??? I am not sure this is the program.

Hey Zach, you should check out Premiere Pro Cs5.5 because it's like FCP7 and FCPX mixed. And the biggest deal for me is that it is 64-bit.

i honestly don't think FCP X is the best but i was doing stuff on iMovie and wanted to get into semi serious editing and i did not have the £600 or i think it is $900 i don't know i am from the UK but i did not have the cash for that and i think it is worth it for beginner editors and for me just the keying is worth it for me cos you can do so much with that even if it is not the best way of doing an effect keying can still work also because i can get motion i think it is good for the price.

@cobby001 I think so... That's what I am planning on doing. Plus it works with all of the Magic Bullet Plug ins I have installed in the old Final Cut. & from the video tutorials I've seen it has even more features & you can import your old FCP projects (export w/ XML) into Premier. It also has a similar interphase as the old FCP.

Try transferring a full length feature film raw footage at 4k to a colour correction production house over the internet or transferring it onto Hard drives take you a month unless you have 100gb/s download/upload or a secret usb 10.0 that hasnt been released. also try multicamera editing live in final cut X total joke. btw tapes are much cheaper in the long run then having to but 100s of hard drives esp in distribution perspective. and dvds/ blue ray dont have enough space.

@eyeofinfinity we are talking post production here not filming besides 35mm is better if you can afford it which is a big if. RED camera is good but yeah has nothing to do with post production. once its on the computer its on the computer (unless you do it old school style). Almost every single placed use digi tapes. To not support them literally cuts off the majority of post production and distribution places in the world.
How do i know this well be i work in the industry.

@eyeofinfinity and as for external monitors it only supports secondary screens not external broadcast monitors (the big rear projection "old school" ones). Which really is pointless since now u cant do colour correction since LCDs etc dont display true colour. therefore its not suitable for broadcasters. It should be renamed imovie pro not FCPX

What amazed me, was the fact that he knew all about the workings of Final Cut 10 within 24 hours of seeing it, that is what I call a quick learner. I wish I had that ability I would buy all the software ie Adobe, Avid etc with the knowledge that in less than a week I could use them all, therefore have no editing problems at all.

Okay for you and other schooled pros I totally agree, however, for me coming from Pinnacle Pro Studio this is an absolute natural upgrade for me and will make my job of editing my family vacation videos and school play videos SO much easier!!! I think I might even be able to make some half way decent commercials or short promo videos. But for large projects??? I am not sure this is the program.

@AXLEGREASEframeset The Social Network was edited on Final Cut... Also, Apple didn't make Final Cut Pro. They only made Final Cut Pro X. Everything before it was made by Macromedia, which has since been bought by Adobe.
