This is terrible. Whether it is Catholic or Protestant. This is a total distraction to worship. What the hell is the matter with churches today, do they just think it is Ringling Brothers? People going to church in the pajamas, pastors dressing up like clowns. Churches trying to entertain the masses. This is not just a problem in the Catholic church either. It happens in tons of Protestant churches. I went to an Evangelical church once and the pastor gave a sermon dressed up like a boxer.
, on account of the extreme and wonderful sufferings of certain martyrs, who, before Christ had come in the flesh, contended for the law of God even unto death, and endured most grievous and horrible evils.
@cunjoz I have studied, unlike you I do not misquote anything, falsify anything, nor throw out hateful comments. Just because something seems wrong, does not make you accurate. Luther was right in his 99 thesis of reformation. He is also right in his 5 Solas (Sola Deo Gloria, Sola Christo, Sola Scriptura, Sola Fide, Sola Gratia), which are the backbone of Orthodox Protestantism, and are rooted in Scripture. I've no issue with church fathers, I have issue with the post Schism Catholic church.
what did i misquote? please tell me. i'm eager to correct my quotes. what did i falsify? my first comment was partially a joke( the part woe to you spammers).
same thing could be applied to you - just becouse you think Catholic Church today is not the Church Christ Jesus founded it doesn't mean she isn't the same Church. St. Ignatius of Antioch is very clear on transsubst. and st. Augustine was very clear on authority of Catholic Church.
@cunjoz Really?! You're putting words into my mouth!Christ is divine,His original church is not the catholic church, his Catholic(Universal)Church,is not the catholic church of today. The early church never preached cannibolism(transubstantiation was not an official doctrine untill Innocent III),they did not have marrian devotions in the New Testament(these did not start untill the time of Francis of Assisi)
you must know that early christians were accused of cannibalism. also google st. ignatius of antioch, and find what he says about the Eucharist (there is a quote of his letter to Smyrneans on wikipedia).
for marian devotion google ''sub tuum praesidium'' and also read about it..
@cunjoz What Scripture teaches is this, that the Father gave Christ all things, that He gave Him authority over all things. Please if your going to quote Scripture quote God's infallible word correctly, or not at all!The original pre-schism church is not my issue, the church fathers had true guidence from the Holy Spirit (despite the anti-semetic tendencies of Chrystostom, Narcion, Ignatius, and others), it's the post schismatic church of Rome (and it's 39 rites) that I have issue with!

If you think fathers are led by Holy Spirit then listen to what Augustine says - “It is the Catholic Church which holds the Books of Machabees as canonical, not the Jews.” (De Civitate Dei Xviii 36)
@cunjoz As Paul teaches in Romans 9-11 we were blinded and cut off for your sake, that you're not to boast yourself over us! If I rejected the Gospel, than why did my birth mother and her family sit Shivah (something one does when a parent or sibling dies) upon hearing of my baptism last year? The 70 did not have the books you're referring to as they were not in completition. We read about the Essenes having them, but this was at the time of the dead sea scrolls!

@cunjoz There was no Maccabbees, Esdras, Tobit, etc. in the original cannon! To this day you'll never see them in the Hebrew Cannon (which dates back to the LXX). Furthermore if you were to have read what all I said, I made a clear distinction between the early catholic church, and the one you adhere to that was officially founded in the 400's! Furthermore how can you claim I rejected the Gospel when I'm Born Again (Which is the requirement of John 3), & a member of the communion of the saints?
yes there were those books. LXX contained all those books and even more. yes. hebrew canon hasn't got those books but that canon was formed around 100 AD. lxx was compiled few hundred years before that. can you point me to the source of foundation of my church? in what document is the catholic church founded in 400?
i didn't claim that you reject the Gospel from the Bible. I said that jews did that when they were deciding on the canon of their scriptures around the year 100.
@cunjoz becouse the authority was passed on to the apostles so their decision was not valid and should not concern any Catholic i.e. Christian. the also rejected Gospels - that goes into incredibility of their decision like whoa!
if pope is led by Holy Spirit he is led in Truth. it is desirable that he makes no error and that he preserves the Church form error with the guidance of the Holy Spirit becouse of which he cannot err on the field of dogmatical proclamation about faith and morals.
celibacy is not a dogma but discipline. orthodox churches also have it. although they can ordain a married man to the deaconate and priesthood they can't ordain him to episcopacy(you must be celibate to eventually become a bishop in life) and also if his wife dies he can't be remarried becouse of the effect of the sacrament of the holy orders.
although the sacrament(of deac. and priest.) is validly confered to a married men, Catholic Church chooses candidates for the sacrament among
and although they can marry and then be ordained many willfully refuse to marry. many of them also enter monastic comunities in which celibacy is necessary(they look up to prophets which led ascetic and celibate lives...especially st.John the Baptist).
i believe that liturgy in the ethiopian church is not led by Holy Spirit in it's development cuz i know they reject the council of chalcedon which condemned monophysitism.
the term is used in writing as early as year 100(implying earlier usage). if you wan't to know what the apostles believed and what did they teach others, and if other men mean to you so much read st. justin the martyr and st. ignacius antioch - you'll find catholic stuff there - they are desciples of apostles
@cunjoz I was born Jewish, adopted and raised in the church, I've studied under the Bishop in my diocese. I left the church at 18 and became Orthodox (from the age of 13 I was studying with Chabad at the same time I was studying with the Bishop), and gave my heart to the LORD last year and was born again. I think you need a little bit more study before you shoot your mouth off! You're the spammer!
This is Catholics are leaving and have been leaving for the past 40 yrs. because of things like this. these priests KNOW exactly what they are doing and one MUST question if they really had a calling to the priesthood. This surely is no evidence of it. Thanks be to God we now have the return of our traditional centuries old Latin Mass, where one can witness to its Holiness, reverence and respect given to Almighty God. Don't put a nickel in the basket..better yet, get out! Go to a Latin Mass.
@CatholicTraditional There is nothing that says anything for or against it, so how can you claim heresy? I was born Jewish, adopted and raised in the church, I've studied under the Bishop in my diocese. I left the church at 18 and became Orthodox (from the age of 13 I was studying with Chabad at the same time I was studying with the Bishop), and gave my heart to the LORD last year and was born again. I think you need a little bit more study before you shoot your mouth off!
i respect your zeal but this is certanly not a heresy but it's a severe liturgical abuse. heresy is denial of Church teaching...but i suppose you know that :)
The book of Tobit in the Bible prominently features a dog and an angel. I can't imagine that in Jesus day there were cars, airplanes, or trains. People got around by using animals. Originally people brought animals to church and donated them as part of the offertory. Hence the communion rail. The washng of hands or Lavabo was needed for the presider as a practical matter to get dirt from fruit eggs etc. off his hands before communion. God ain't upset, so why should the author of this video?
@cloudsurfer007 TOBIT IS NOT SCRIPTURE! IT IS A CLASSIC EXAMPLE OF HELLINISTIC JEWISH LITERATURE, THE SAME CAN BE SAID ABOUT SUSANNAH, WISDOM, SIRACH, ETC...!
I would just add that I would think having a dog's salva on childs toy or donuts in the gathering space, or in this case a book may not be the cleanest public safety matter. My neighbor has allergies to dogs, would not invite her to that mass.
I actually visited that church also. At that time he mentioned at the start of his homily that a little boy came upset because Bridget had gotten his toy. He said not to worry, she always takes it to his office. Sure enough she did and he gave it back to the boy. He said Bridget was OK, she just act a donut in the gathering space between masses. On the way out the dog was there in the receiving line. Personaly, it bothered me and I never went back. I go to St. Rita's down the street.
I am not offended. It is not a sacred space, just a glass barn. Intelligent dog knew when her master was about to leave. Except the priest shouldn't have touched the dog while wearing vestments.
In all honesty, dacath, I agree that no priest should make a practice of inviting a dog in as a regular part of the recession. To what end? Now if that's what is going on here as a custom, then it should be stopped even if the minimal reasoning is an act of charity to those who might be offended. I suppose where I draw the line is before any argument which pretends that the mere presence of an animal is offensive to God.
@lamentabili Its not a matter of an Animal being present, its just a general thing. We would also be complaining if their where Altar Girls, a Rock Band etc. Both of which are also seen plainly in this video.
I remember back in the seventies as an altar boy when Monsignor's dog came sauntering in during the consecration. I made the mistake of trying to shoo him out. The dog nearly dog my arm off. Monsignor, a very orthodox priest, motioned to let him be. The dog stayed on and we all left him alone.
I don't see any particular liturgical abuse in this at all.
@lamentabili Its like making a frolic out of the Mass. Yes their where animals in the manger, but more appropriately, where their animals at the foot of the Cross. The first calvary?
Sometimes I have to admit that dogs can enter. Sometimes i have to admit though, that they may have a good sense of the sacred. I recall once father's dog came in the middle of Sanctus, and when the moment of consecration come, it laid prostrate af if there is something. The dog remained that way until after communion, when it silently left.
Sadly, Bridget appears to show more respect than her master does by putting a hymnal in her mouth.

Sadly, Bridget appears to show more respect than her master does by putting a hymnal in her mouth.
There's a possibly apocryphal story that when JPII made an impromptu stop in Baltimore to pray before the Blessed Sacrament, the police dogs sent in to sniff the place out stopped in their tracks before the Blessed Sacrament and would not move. Of course they couldn't understand the Real Presence, but they had an instinctual sense that this place was important.
