  • I guess you can argue the political correctness of a cigarette company involved with tennis but this was the era of women's lib and it was the first time the women got a fair go in tennis. (They can thank BJK for most of it). Now the girls on the tour make millions and just take it for granted.

  • @MARKBPHARM And Gladys Heldman who had the players sign the $1.00 contracts for the ground breaking $7,500 Virginia Slims of Houston, which led to a full-fledged circuit the following year..who could have anticipated what success it would bring later...

  • That's not a nice thing to say about anyone. What would your mother think if she read what you just wrote? That's sick!

  • Rosie was a smoker back then

  • And how many of these women smoked Virginia Slims? Probably not many but strangely I bet there were a few.

  • Margaret Smith Court and John Newcombe were your champs in 1973

  • Great blast from the past. Hey, there are brief clips of Women pros I never thought I would see again ever--Marita Redondo at 1.07 makes this video. Thanks for posting this and all the other vintage tennis videos-- dgobbie.
