I was lucky to video Big Al in Old City Philly 1983 the first weekend I bought my cumbersome 2 piece video camcorder. He's at the end of this video. I'll post the unedited version in higher quality soon. But darn Youtube won't let me post URL link.
Your video (well, the part about Big Al) reminds me of my friend Bob. He worked with me and I thought of him as a kinda crazy old man. Then, due to things completely not his fault, he lost his place to live and moved in with me for three months. During that time I learned that he wasn't a cartoon character but a real man, who had lived one hell of a life to that point. I also learned that behind his goofiness, he had a true wisdom and was kind beyond words. He remains a close friend. :)
i love how you studder.. like no lie.. its so kool.. watching your videos just u kno.. its feels good cuz ur soo human.. u dont seem rehearsed and it feels as if you are really just spilling your thoughts and feelings and i love the random jokes :P

Babylonians where the first to use the written word i believe and they spoke of Marriage all the time in their books. i find it to be a silly thing but your right. its been passed down longer than anyone knows
although you make some very good points marriage hasn't, or should i say isnt always based around religion. the more i look into it the more there seems to always be 2 sides to getting married. one big thing was combining families for profit gain or property. those seem to be the big causes out side of religion. good argument btw
If it's impossible to tell which came first, then logically you can't tie marriage to religion.
Marriage is a ritual, but not all rituals are religious. If someone completely unfamiliar with Western culture came over and watched a court hearing, how would it be interpreted?
I feel that two people wanting to join their lives together isn't because their religion tells them to, they do it because it is what is natural and marriage is a legal documentation and a ceremony declaring their love to the world. Religion only really factors into the ceremony, and that is determened on whatever the couple want.
Being a friend certainly is more difficult than trying to be a savior. I had a similar incident with a hitchhiker of all things I had picked up (when you could do such things). I think when you take the time, you find that deep meaningful friendships are possible and very enriching. After all, we only get one shot to try to get it close to right
My question is does Penn upload these videos himself and put them together or is it someone from crackle. Who is filming him, who slices the thing together and uploads. Does he plan these dialy or just randomly do these or what. Basically, I want an "Inside Penn Says" episode.
My ex girlfriend, after two years together, informed me that she no longer liked my hair long; she even pointed out a man with almost no hair (probably bald under his hat) and said "he has a nice look"; I nearly asked if she wanted me to get his phone number for her. Stupid crap gets in the way when a relationship starts to end.
The way I judge a movie is of course during if I laugh or have distinct emotions during the movie and if it makes me reflect on my life and what I would of done in that movie. My favorite movies of all time I remember thinking about the movie throughout the day everyday for sometimes a week after watching it or more. I love thought provoking, intense movies.

Nice story. You should always treat a man like a man, because his value is deeper than what you perceive it to be.

But the marriage is a ritual, and its related to religion in all cultures of the world.
You can travel to any tribe, it can be in africa or america, or any other place of the world, its always a ritual.
On ocidental culture its usually made in a church ( so in ocidental culture its related to religion too)
I aways knew that marriage pre-dates recorded history, so as religion.
So we cant tell which was created first.
So NOBODY can tell that the marriage was created before religion.

Thanks for the feedback gang. So far a lot of love for Penn himself, but what do you think of the video topic itself?

Whaddyah mean "Just a harmonica player"?
So somehow the fuckin' Cello is better than the harmonica?
So you're sayin' that somehow Classical music has more value than the Blues?
Hmmm says a lot about you Penn.
