Sad fact - the Internet voting, mentioned in this video, is in fact, really the only one in the world. But not because other countries arent advanced enough to make it. The thing is, such coutnries as USA, England, France, e.t.c. have thought of using this system, but have proven that it is too easy to exploit it, hence why they never used it. And with recent votes in Estonia, the question if the Internet voting is truly safe, has risen again.
@Alagremm I've been to Estonia many times. I've seen most of the cities and small villages etc. The people of Estonia are a sensible people whom take pride in their advancements. Internet voting just comes naturally to them. It's a byproduct of the country's current direction. It's all part of the "new north" attitude. Paper ballot voting and wages by cheque are something for Russians and Americans.
@Alagremm It hasn't been exploited so far. Traditional voting, however, very much.
Why is it so that only Estonia uses it? It's because Estonia is small enough to do this without having a major threat of someone taking advantage of this system and because Estonian cyber-protection is far more advanced. The NATO's cyberdefence HQ is stationed in Estonia.
@z34th0x I know and I live in America... But then, my family on mom's side came from Estonia lol Tallinn to be exact, and I think Tartu for some. But yes... Most Americans have no clue- so I just say "right next to Russia"
Omg you dumb people, learn to read description :This video was made for the video contest "Everything is IT". It wasn't made to prouve something to you little jealous kids. And YES , Skype was made by Estonians, if you can't live with this knowledge then you should visit a doctor.
This is a really misleading and at times completely erroneous video. Skype was not invented by an estonian, it was founded by a Swede and a Dane, and the code was WRITTEN by an estonian.
@Milosmilk You're arguing semantics. According to the Wikipedia "An invention is a new composition, device, or process. An invention may be derived from a pre-existing model or idea".
@dudegofuckyourselfok I agree with milosmilk. If i were hired to write code for someone with a bright idea, i wouldnt be inventing it. I would be visualizing it.
@Oliarvis The Estonians were shareholders of the company and they made over 100 million euros in profit when Skype was sold to eBay in 2005. They were not just hired coders, they were part owners of the company. Moreover, they were the ones to come up with the peer-to-peer technology, the audio and video codecs - all of the things that make Skype a high quality, bug-free and easy-to-use software.
@dudegofuckyourselfok Dude go fuck yourself, ok? I mean is it that important for you to prove that that country in the middle of nowhere is that great?(I live in europe, and i know where estonia is) Also unless the two estonians are patent holders of the technology, then they didnt invent it.
@Oliarvis The P2P technology behind Skype was inveted by Estonians, who teamed up with the Swede and Dane you mentioned and formed the company Skype. These guys, Zennström and Friis were investors and founders of the company. The developers Heinla, Kasesalu and Tallinn were the developers of it AND also the people who had the idea. Before Skype, they used the same P2P technology to build Kazaa. After Kazaa was shut down, they decided to use it for a VoiP application that became Skype.

@Maekas Hmm no. The estonians were not the people who got the idea for it. The swede and dane were. Btw i'm not Swedish or danish, so i'm not rooting on any of them on purpose. As opposed to you guys.
@Oliarvis Dude, you have Denmark as the country on your Youtube profile. Pathetic. And provide some proof on your claims, otherwise it's just some random Dane's opinion that nobody cares about.
My father was the one how invented SKYPE! I am not lying! :)
