  • "I am a Marxist." - Dr. Michael (Martin Luther) King jr.

  • should not be divisions between people ;)

  • between people there is no greater difference than is that we differ only in color of the skin, nothing else

  • You can see the emotions played before his face at 3:51.

    Truly inspiring, thank you.

  • Martin Luther King is encoded in the Bible several times.

See the Aimed At America 2 video on youtube.

  • stupid song what was the point

  • I remember this from gears of war

  • what is the song because i put the song that is listed and it came up with something else so i guess its not "somewhere in heaven" by santana

  • @okambarami1 hi,

the song is by the band DeVotchKa called "How It Ends"

  • really great work on video

  • Wonderful job. This deserves so many more views. Will be passing it along.

  • martin luther king was just a puppet, and i dont mean that in negativity to the actual civil rights movement, but it was actually organized by black women, but they were way fucking ahead of their time and they knew enough to understand that this shit was not going to take off if it was a woman leading because society is so fucking sexist, so they got a MAN and they got a Pastor. its really sad actually...

  • Nice video. I used this in my English class while teaching American Romanticism. Images truly resonated with my urban students. Thank you!

  • @WearyUrbanite great, i hope the video was helpful... thanks for sharing!

  • You are narrow minded..... not everybody had equal opportunity back then...it was very apparent. yes...these days we have no excuse..but dr king was valid

  • @homerjaysimpson71 dude can u get a life and dont try to bring black people down. did u forget a white made jim crow laws. seperate but equal my ass. if u dont appreciate martin luther king jr. dont go to his video and then desrespect him. u sound like a total idiot when u say ignorant things like that. GET A LIFE and dont make me bring up slavery because if u forgot white people treated the blacks like fucking ANIMALS. u is the type of person who give white people a bad name.

  • @TheTemptationsFan - YEAH! People like that are why I am often ashamed of my skin color.

  • I keep watching this. I've watched like 6 times.

  • Devotchka is an interesting choice here. I like it, it works.

  • thanks, i had liked the song, and thought it had some nice moments where i could use either the dialogue or let the music take over, and the song had a good ending where i could use king's last speech over it

  • I shared this with my class. Thank you.

  • cool, thats good to hear, i hope it inspired some of them to look further into this time period of american history and the events that surrounded it.

  • @jarfilled - amazing job! i show it to everyone i know. <3

  • Jarfilled,

Just wanted to say thanks! I'm a social studies teacher and I shared your video with my students and they were genuinely moved by it. Great editing, music and content.

Question: how did you get access to the footage that you used? I am interested in creating similar works for use in my classroom.

  • thanks, thats one of the main reasons i created this video (and the one on RFK) i had hoped to get people interested in certain historical moments or figures, i would like to do more, but finding the free time to do all the editing can be daunting

i accessed this footage by pointing a video camera at a TV screen and recording the scenes i wanted... i'm sure there is a better way to do this now, i'd have to do some research to figure out "how"... i hope this helped....

  • how could ppl ever treat others like that.. insane

  • great job!

  • love this :)

  • Absolutely wonderful

  • i just did this play..and relooking at this..it makes you appreciate to be apart of it.

  • Who are those guys behind MLK in the "dream" speech? Why are they wearing those white hats?

  • first the abraham lincon freed the blacks from slave forever the martin luther king jr sacrifised his own life for tried to free them from rasism and obama is trying to prove that we are one.

  • Did mlk see the glory of God the way Moses did on the mountain top?..... yes, i believe it to be true. . Did mlk see the promise land the way Moses did?....yes, i believe it to be true. . as a Christian i believe that those were not mlk words but they were the words of God... good job on the video....juliatn; very powerful words...

  • I played the version of this video that is on your website for my students today. I started it late for a class - just one minute before the bell was to ring. To my astonishment the class stayed 5 minutes AFTER the bell to finish watching it. AND they were missing their lunch period. For 14 year-olds this is a BIG deal. Hopefully that explains the impact this video had on them! Thanks again!

  • Thank you! So powerful! It always hurts so much, as a young, white southerner, to see how people were treated by those who looked like me and lived in the same part of the country as I do. But, at least after today we can see the beginnings of an ending to all of this hatred and pain. To my fellow human beings, we are one. We always have been, and I resent that it took so long for us to arrive at this historic point because of the ignorance, arrogance, and fear of some. But it's a new day!

  • Amen to you!

  • I can't stop watching this.

To Shannonandclover, the version of that quote that I have read is:

Rosa sat so Martin could walk,

Martin walked so Barack could run,

Barack ran so my children could fly

    If you're only 11, I guess that's you =}

  • That was great! i'm writing in tears... That's so sad how people were treated back then, but it is nice to know that he helped us get Obama as president... Rosa sat so Martin could walk so Obama could rune. Thank you so much for sharing that with us. It's good that people take a look at what times were like back then, and I am only 11, but somehow I know how he felt... share love...

  • that was really great, thank you sharing!

  • I've never left a comment to a Youtube video before, but that video was incredibly moving and I thank you so much for posting it. I'll be showing it to my high school students. Is there any way to get a clearer version of the video? Can you upload it to something like Vimeo for better quality?

  • sure... if you give me till the end of the week (THURS/FRI) i can do one of a few things

i could send you the video on a cd, or dvd, or i could upload a large quicktime file to my website or Vimeo... i just need a few days of spare time to dig thru my computer and pull up the og file

how soon would you like to show it?

  • Excellent! Thank you! I would like to show it next Tuesday.

  • hello- i sent you a message thru youtube with the links to the video... it took me a while but i finally found the source video

    THANKS!

  • ...one more... the vimeo link was still converting last i checked, saying it might be a few hours... there's still the option with the video on my website

  • Is not Oswald Osbourne from Birmingham?

  • Thanks for posting this. It is beautiful. Martin Luther King, Jr., changed the U.S. and even the world possibly more than any other person. Not just because of what he stood for, not because of how he made a speech, but because he taught us that one person can make a difference. Thank you for this tribute.

  • my grannie just died infront of my eyes today at 4:20 im so glad she got to see a black president after going threw the jim crow era i love u grannie 1942-2008

  • Thank you Dr. Martin Luther King

  • Thank you so much for this video. I watched it for the first time yesterday and I will never think of the day we elected our first minority president without thinking of your work. You crystalized for me how extraordinary today is when you consider that people who could not choose where to sit or drink or work are voting for a person of color for president less than a lifetime later. We have Dr. King to thank for who we are today. I am sure he is smiling somewhere today.

  • Son incredibly touching and the music was perfect.

    He certainly knew.

It is almost enough to reignite my faith in Man.

  • And it worked.

It's not perfect now, by any means, but he achieved integration.

Now blacks can live anywhere, and go to same schools etc.

This is what we all need to get in our heads (black and white).

If we all do this sort of thing.. normal people... they CANT attack us, because the value of their money (and the power that goes with that), will vanish if they do.

They CANNOT win, but the ILLUSION makes us THINK they can.

But we need ALL the peopel for OUR common purpose

  • This deserves so many more views.

  • thanks for posting this! beautiful! painful and touching memories of my youth! we all need to work together to take up the peaceful battle one more time! VOTE OBAMA!

  • wow, i'm at a loss for words...

i want to be apart of somthing this important!

    thnks for the inspiration.

  • well stated---well stated

  • Just wow

  • Thank you Dr. King for reminding us that it is ok to love, to truely love one another!

  • Such an under appreciated individual. What a brilliant speaker.

  • Truely wonderful... Martin Luther King Jr is truely a wonderful man. RIP MLK

  • thanks

its wonderful that his words can still inspire us today, its shows the true universal wisdom of his teachings that connects us all

  • MARVELOUS. TRULY INSPIRATIONAL....

  • Truly Beautiful! The video and song is great.

  • Is there anyway to download that PBS Documentary?

  • No not from them. But look for it on some torrents or you can get it on Netflix-if you have an active account with them. They do carry the 2 hrs DVD. OF course it brings to life his last 5 years

  • This was a very good video, do you have any other Martin Luther King videos?

  • thank you rfishercap3

this is the only video I have put together for Dr. King, but the clips I used are from a PBS documentary "Citizen King", which is one of the best I've seen about him
