  • I thought these smaller air balanced units are for shallower wells only. if you get one with a lower gear ratio could you drill even deeper?

  • It is a Lufkin air balance unit, the size is a 912 (which is the gearbox rating, 912,000 pound torque) and It has 144 inches of stroke legnth. The engine is a natual gas powered Waukesha, size 817 (817 cubic inches of displacement) The Well is about 6000 feet deep. Hope this helps you on your project.

  • Hey I live in Kern County where Elk Hills Petroleum Reserve is at. I work for Nabors Well Services and I didn't know this but Elk Hills, which is owned by Occidental Petroleum (OXY), makes about $3 BILLION on a quarterly basis from their oil profits. Crazy. I didn't think they had that kind of money here!

  • I prefer the electric drive units, quieter and don't pollute as much

  • Waukesha GZU-145 (or 817) 817 cubic inch, 6 cyl. engine. built in 1945 and still pulling up the good stuff.

  • What type of engine is running this unit
