you cant blame white man for using collored poeple as slaves cuz before they got black poeple it were other white poeple it was always there and not the fault of a race or anything it was the fault of rich poeple who wanted to stay rich thats why poor poeple like farmers and other jobs did not got anny rights. and im glad its over.

@justmesince1994 The European peasantry was not treated nearly as harshly as blacks slaves and did poor white people in the South ever stop to think that the aristocracy was using slave labor driving down the value of free white labor? The reason race became the line it was is because there were no white slaves yes white indentured servants in colonial America but they had to work for a set number of years to repay their passage and were not treated as badly as slaves

@elamite66 well when i wrote down u cant blame i was wrong srry u can blame them but its not because those poeple were black and im not talking about the same period i am talking about the year 500 when white man had to work at farms so other white landlords would protect them. u should read about it prety intersting. ofcourse slavery is bad and i should not have said that u cant blame poeple for it maby i should have read it before i posted it :P

@justmesince1994 Actually when I referred to the European Peasantry I was going back as far as 500AD while conditions were bad they were more like badly treated share croppers than black slaves and they did not die in the millions crossing the Atlantic However you are right that some form of slavery has been with us since the beginning of civilization in most parts of the world

@elamite66 there died a lot of them back then most of them during theyr child hood second of all is that back in that time new slaves/peasants were harder to get i am not talking about the roman empire but the time between roman empire and the medival times. poeple back then had to work all day for theyr land lord they only got enoug food to survive themselve most of their kids died during the winter or died cuz they had no food so next time u say somthing u better know ur facts

Its lucky the war happened then and not now. Today all the Southerners would've shown up on the battefield after getting totally wasted with an AK47 in one hand, a shotgun/M60 in the other with an UZI for a sidearm and alot of them would probably have red giftshop samurai swords haha

Ok just throwing this out there but in your own words what is heritage and hate but yet union and deliverance?The Yanks and the Rebs are what to one another? In my say so these great folks were that of a mixed ideal cultural background that had opposing views on tthe issue of slavery,warfare,cotton,and industrial revolution in which families segregated to by their own opposing opinion eventually resulting in a war but if you think about it we're all a mix of both dixie and union.

@Stalfos23 I don't see how there was a difference of opinion on cotton or the industrial revolution The south had a nascent industrial basis itself and cotton was just a raw material bought by the North as well as Britain and France Slavery and tariffs are the only serious difference I can see often wrapped in the banner of State's Rights The Southern Aristocracy used slavery which drove down the value of free white labor to maintain their riches

This is odd.... Johnny is a favorable reference to a Confederate Soldier yet the video show the Rebells getting whooped. Perhaps the next video plays the Battle Hymn and shows the Yanks getting whooped. The Ken Burns series on the Civil War - I am watching it again for the umpteenth time.

@fishP Johnny was originally a northern song derived from an earlier Irish song about an Irishman who joined the British Army and returned unrecognizable blind and crippled from India However it soon spread to the south and became a favorite of north and south during the Civil War

@dcain912 the largest slave owners were black? blacks fought for the confederacy? your grasp of history is sadly lacking This may come as a shock but the percentage of white people in the US is declining and in Western Europe it's declining even faster By the end of the century white may be a minority here with a lower birth rate and immigration As for all white colleges good luck but being white you can be accepted at former state run all black colleges with lower qualifications

the Southern Confederacy was definetly full of brave souls to take on a nation 3 times larger

and definetly proved themselves to be fierce fighters when they held out for 4 years before the north drove them down

300 thousand yankees died to take down Dixie

200 thousand Southerners died defending her

the north may have outnumbered us 3 to 1 they may have been better armed and better trained but in the end the south still ended up takeing down over 100 thousand more soldiers

I have always thought that this was a Southern Song, but it was actually written by a Union Officer

of the 24th Massachusetts Regt and he dedicated his song to the Union Army. But it's a great song anyway! Perhaps sung by both sides.
