Hey, funny you mention it. This version sounds like the album because half of what you hear is coming from pre-recorded tracks taken from the record. I was working this show, and the only "live" sounds were acoustic drums, guitar, and vocals. ALL of the synth melodies and synth percussion was coming off the laptop you can glimpse at 0:40. Both synth-players just stood there pantomiming all night. Half the synths weren't even on. I like this music, but I wish they had the guts to still PLAY it.

This probably is the worst version I have heard or seen. The girls were from audience. Pete Byrne singing here had Rob Fisher his duo band member, on the keyboard programming died on 25 August 1999, following surgery for an illness which turned out to be stomach cancer. He was also on a band called ClimieFisher. They have nothing to do with Simple Minds but Both friends were formerly a part of the short-lived group Neon with Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith of Tears for Fears fame.

I don't know who was first, but Dionne Warwick did the song in 1967. You can find her version here on youtube... Jose Feliciano did also. I like everyone's versions of this song.
