A sealed box would work better on those type of subs since they dont flex alot, a sealed box alows the air to vibrate inside the box adding more bass.

i use to have those 12z... but you couldnt see outta my rear view when the subs were on ...like the whole rear view mirror would just face downwards.. so u should get a better amp and get thicker power gauge wires and you'll see what i mean ... unless your satisfied with that then you fine

This is an ok setup but not well thought out. One thing get rid of that particular ported box, its not tuned properly for those subs. If they are at 40hz then try tuning the port up a bit to say 48-54 hz. I prefer sealed subs as the bass is much more accurate. Judging by your choice of poor music to show off this setup, stick with ported enclosures.

I love budget systems. Fun to build when your broke which I am most of the time. My only wish is that amp makers of cheaper amps would just be honest and list their actual power instead of making up bullshit numbers. I have a Crunch Pzi 2250 running 2 ohm X2 on a pair of HF12D4's. Now the amp clearly states 500 r.m.s. at 2 ohms X2. Maybe if it got struck by lightning. In reality it's about 225'ish. Come on guys just list what the amp really does and quit making up fairy tales!

To be honest all you guys arguing over which brand is best are making yourselfs sound idiotic ... i've heard plenty of 'crap' brands subs banging as hard as some 'good brand' ... i have 1 proper bottom of the range Edge 12" and it keeps up with my mates 2 12" JL audios on double the power (600rms) ... i'm not saying a pioneer is built as well as a Digital Designs but the biggest factor as to how a sub will perform sound is down to the enclosure
