how could dislike this band they scream American, freedom, and NRA. this is America's band.
R.I.P Billy Powell, Allen Collins, Leon Wilkins, Ronnie Van Zant, Ian Evans, Hughie Thommason, Steve Gaines, Cassy Gaines, and all the others who have are no longer alive that were with the band.
2 of the original members wives collect 30% of all revenue without doing anything.
So I would say the members of the band do it for a lot more than money.
It is true that they give the fans what the fans really want and that is the old standards but there are some really good post RVZ music if folks would just give it a fair chance. Skynyrd is just the best group of all time past, present and future.
@robinhoodtn1 the bottom line is the band is still now today playing to packed houses night in and night out. if the fans didn't want to see them they wouldn't go. also i find it funny the comments you make if ronnie was alive today he would do this or that. how do you know, what he would do or say. johnny has carried on with class and diginty. plus it has given his daughter melody in which he loved even more then music, and his grandaughter a great life by getting a % of the gate. he be proud.
@notme20640 Lynyrd Skynyrd was never about the money. They are still doing it for the love of the music and respect for the guys that have passed on and cannot be here to play anymore so they are doing it for them and the fans.
This band has a great rock/country funk vibe, electric or acoustic, now and then, always has. I respect their ability to keep going and maintain the quality.
They admit that they are a different Lynyrd Skynyrd. You have the camp that likes the old and those that like the new version. I can't stand this new stuff. They should put the band to rest.
agree'd they're so fake now its sad. the original skynyrd rocked. I saw em in 2004 and vowed that I wouldnt go see them anymore because they're so departed from the old Skynyrd. "Viscious Cycle" really killed it for me
God Bless you Lynyrd Skynyrd. The saddest days of my were between the day of the wreck & the first time I heard "Smoke Stack Lightning". Since then every album has been better than the one before it, every show has been the absolute trill of my life. Special thanks to the band & all the good folks that made it possible! And Lord please take me & mine when this is gone.
You'er BIG BRO TOOK CARE OF YOU. Be humble Please be more humble Johnny Don't act the fool and drag the Greats like Gary down with you... Stop singing about booze You will or any of us will ever be Ronnie God Bless
gary needs his ass kicked for letting these comments go unanswered, but he always was a slacker,if it wasn't for my daddy his ass would be drawing a check somewhere and he knows it.Wicker was Lynyrd Skynyrd.Call me bitch,I'm a ghost from your past
like this side of the "new" lynyrd skynyrd.didn't know they had an acoustic album.hope I can find it here in europe.thanks surfboy7 for sharing this, love such interesting vids.

Why isn´t Ed King playing in Lynyrd these days? He´s always been a favourite beside Ronnie of course.
UnderdogAlmighty 3 years ago
He had to get off the road in late 95' due to congestive heart failure. He wanted to still contribute, but Rossington decided to replace him
