  • wouldnt that have been something, senna in indycar

  • @Coopdg23

And if he would have joined Penske, he would drove the winning package in 1994.

  • That Penske was automotive pornography. Prettiest open wheeled car of that time.

  • @weallfollowmanutd tis nice but check out the `92 mclaren mp4-7a, quite similar but i`d take the f1 car hands down! omo :)

    He shoudan't go to Willians!

  • Oh what could have been. If Senna was still alive back then and jumped into Indycars, he could have won at least one Indy 500 and a world championship with Penske. Imagine Senna, Emmo and Al Unser jr. all in the Penske stable, that could have been the ultimate 3-car team of that era.

  • thank you for posting the video.

  • indy car was awesome :)

  • Wow, the legend! Bring CART back..... Turbo charged power...

  • Awesome video! Back when CART and F1 was awesome, especially cart before that dumb irl and now indy racing league shit..RIP Ayrton! I thank you for a bunch of beautiful sundays as a young child watching you race.

  • To bad Senna didn't come over. Emo, senna, mansell, al jr. rahal, Andretti. 1993 would have been awsome and F1 could have been in alot of trouble.

  • @ohiopower So could that be the missing piece of why Ayrton's car was sabotages and he was murdered in Italy? Because he was going to leave F1 for CART and F1 was afraid CART would win and F1 would fail?

  • @tommyleehog oh yeah, sure... and they decided to kill him in 1994 because he tested a indy in 92. What else?

09/11 attacks were made by japanese because of hiroshima. keep going...

  • @jncanticas

Hey, I never said it was what happened... but it would explain why the in car camera and telemetry just seconds for before the fatal crash don't exist... He might have seen the death in testing the near death of Rubens and then said it was his last season.. Bernie being the greedy troll he is had Frank jack up his car... Never under estimate the power of greed.

  • @tommyleehog oh come on...

  • @tommyleehog AAHHHHH, so it was bernie who did the steering column mod with his soldering kit?! lmfao

  • Wow. Great video. How awesome it would have been to see Fittipaldi and Senna racing for Penske!

  • God, why can't the new Indycar sound similar to this? The new car looks and sounds like crap. Just love that squealy turbo whine from the CART era V8s...

  • I want to Thank You for placing this video. I had heard about Ayrton testing a Penske car but I had never seen the truth. He is my favorite and I want to state again, Thank you. Going to Indy for decades, it would have brought both my passion for Indy and for Senna together. I have been to his grave twice and I am still wiping my tears for my love of the great Senna. Please post other videos, remember, some of us have not the best Portuguese. Still, thank you again and again

  • I'd kill to have an english version of this video. Really interested on his take on indycar.

Did he dig it and the motorsport itself specifically? Personally I love IndyCar. Although I greatly prefer road course events, the occasional oval is actually growing on me and I don't mind the split between the two these days.

IndyCars popularity and technology have dived in the past decade or so, but it's getting better. More people are watching and I REALLY dig the 2012 cars!

  • @rawrghblarghwaurgh The reporter says they arrived early on the track,Ayrton started learning things. Then inside the car he says there's nothing to comment,he has to try it before commenting anything. After driving he says that race cars are like drugs in his vein and that he was feeling that when the team turned the engine on to warm it and that it reminded him of old f1 turbo times and also emerson comments about ayrton joining indy in the future.Ayrton agreed. He seemed unhappy with F1.

  • @accpessoal he was headed to indy for sure i feel ,

  • @accpessoal Was able to understand half of what they said only because I speak Spanish.

  • Does that car had a turbo??

  • @proximer217

Yah, it was a 2.65 litre Turbo charged motor

  • I keep thinking that if may be he had joined Indy Car Racing, "may be" he would still be alive... I still can't get over it!!

  • I would have been awesome if Senna would have raced at Indy and in the states. Too bad he left us so early. My brother and I ran into Emerson at the Airport in Indy one year. We saw him sitting by himself playing with his iPad. We didn't want to bother him but we figured how often do you get a chance to talk to a racing legend all by himself. We asked if we could take a picture with him and he gladly agreed. He was a very nice guy.

  • 0:28 haha he even wants to see if the wheels spin right

  • it would have been interesting to see ayrton in one of the penske mercedes cars at indy in 94, apparently frank williams had given him the go ahead to go to indy in a 4th car that year

  • Emerson always open the doors to new drivers. In 1984 he brings his car to race in Nürburbring Circuit against actual and old World Champions. Every champion race a identical Mercedes 190C. Lauda, Prost, Jones, among others was there. Senna was the only rookie against all this great champions. He lost the pole against Prost. But the race was in wet. In the 3th. Lap Senna was leading and won, thanks to this opportunity. He was a genius.

  • Ive raced karts on that track

  • Ayrton was extremely frustrated because of the weak McLaren, thus he wanted to "look around" for alternatives in the US.

  • Henry Winkler!

  • Emmerson speaks Portuguese like he does English.

  • Two Brazilian Legends. Senna And Emerson.

  • Back in the days when US monoposto racing was as big as F1.

Just look at the car. It looked so modern compared to the early 90ies F1 cars.

i guess the split was the beginning of the end :(

  • @YklausK

Agreed! CART was the shit back in the day. People sometimes forget that even Ferrari built a CART car and flirted with entering it in the series.

  • @nismobeach for real? ferrari was thinking about champcar? wow, tony george really fucked owr good. I woulda love to have seen that.

  • @YklausK Sorry, it was nowhere near, ever.

Looking modern? F1 is the pinnacle; has always been ahead of the curve.

  • @MrStig691 but in 1994 they took huge steps back by changing the rules and axing traction control, active suspension, and launch control.

  • @Dogman36 Ahem, but TC, AS, and LC had no place in F1 to begin with. Not all technological driver's aid add-on needs to be in an F1 car as all that gadgetry punishes the smaller teams without as deep pockets.

And I'm glad refueling was done away for 2011 too.

  • @YklausK wait split? they used to be the same? just getting into f1 and used to watch indy when i was a child in the 90's I'm so confused hahaha

  • How fast was he in the Penske

  • @swavgav31 Senna's lap was 0.6s faster than Emerson's lap. However as both stated, the circuit was too slow. Too small and too skinny. This really can't be measured. Senna probably would be faster than anyone in a real circuit though. If Mansell won 1993, Ayrton would've beaten him. Emerson was a lot older and a lot less agressive, of course 'cause of his advanced age and less reflexes. But still, 2 legends nonetheless. Indy would've been lots of fun to watch with them competing.

  • What would have been back in 1993 if Senna went to race with Penske to fight for the title with Mansell and Newman Haas. That would be epic.

  • @DC322

Beyond epic! You probably wouldn't have the split between IRL-CART plus Indy Car would would have been globle.

  • Fittipaldi invited Senna to test a Indy car with the aval of Penske Team. First Emerson did a few laps and said that the circuit was quites cold and it is a small one. Then it was Sennas turn. He used RIck Mears seat and went for it. Then they start to talk about the test.

  • The test was late december 1992.

  • well in ayrton senna's book it says 1993 and the reason his suit says honda is because at the start of the 1993 f1 season senna didn't have a drive. (senna wanted to go to williams but prost was there and wouldnt let senna be his team mate) and seems senna was at this time a free agent he was free to race/test in whatever suit he felt fit

  • @badhorrill This is either late 1992 or very early 1993 because the reporter clearly asks Senna at 3:46 about his plans "for 1993..."

  • it was 1993 he tested it in not 1992

  • @badhorrill

No, this was in 1992. Mclaren switched to Ford engines in '93, Ayrtons race suit clearly says Honda on it.

  • Senna would of been a BEAST in Indycar. Especially in a Penske. Totally unstoppable.

  • @BlueFox284

And he probably would have won the Indy 500 in 1993.

  • @ChampCarforlife According to Emmo, Senna has scheduled to drive in Indy 500 in 1994, with a Penske ! That would be amazing ! Emmo said that this was a secret only known by Ayrton, Roger Penske, Emmo, and Frank Williams who gave the go !

  • @GTAGIS

that I didn't know! Thanks for the info.

  • @ChampCarforlife you are welcome. I am sorry, I forget to give the source. it was in the preface or the postface written by Emmerson Fitipaldi. (don't remember) in the book of Adrianna Galisteu,

  • @ChampCarforlife Mansell won it :D

  • Fantastic.

    Where Bneks is?

    I remember him.

    He made excellent videos

  • He also tested it on an oval once, I think it was Pheonix, some place like that, a short oval.

  • Thanks for the upload, very rare!!!

    Ayyyyyyyyyyyyrton 4 life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D

    Noel

  • @Ayrton4everrr Thanks for sharing Noel.

    Ayrton for ever

  • OMG, someone found the footage from the cameraman in the famous pictures.

    Please transcribe to English!

  • GREAT VIDEO!!!

Could someone please translate it into English? My Portugese is quite poor, hehe. Thanx in advance! :)

  • This was a message for F.1......

  • muy buen video, gracias
