  • nice vid. I love those long coal drags.

  • they have toilets.......... XD they dont stop at a truck stop err train stop and say "gota go"

  • what the hell is that ES44DC doing on the point lol

  • am i the only one who hates the new paint schemes and thinks they shoulda kept the yn2 scheme

  • But after the 12 hours are up aren't you going to have to take an 8 hour break then do another 12 hours. I'm guessing you do get to go to other states being an engineer or conductor for CSX. I think your only allowed to travel about 3,000 miles a month and 131 miles is equalled to an 8 hour work day.

  • hey Ive caught 5382 twice before.

  • Great Horn

  • First car says NYC. There's no way that that's NewYorkCentral...

  • yeah its new york central and hey when i first watched this i thought that gevo was a dash 9

  • After I put the comment on I kept thinking about it so I researched it. After the CR breakup, the stuff that NS got was marked PRR for that half of CR, and what CSX got was marked NYC for that half. Yeah I thought it was a D9, too! By the way, great video 5*!

  • i hate those stupid gevos you want a real engine use an ac6000 those are real engines

  • Same thing here.

  • gevos suck nut

  • GREAT HORN!!!

  • Very nice closeup of the engines passing by. I didn't know that they had the engine model marked on the sides of them! 5*

  • nyc? as in the New york central

  • CSX has ES44AC engines with new GE radial trucks. Why do they use those trucks any way?

  • On GEs they are called steerable trucks, CSX has them on all of their AC GEs. They help with tractive effort on curves as well as rail wear.

  • second part of previous question--do they monitor generator amps or engine rpms.

  • They monitor both, plus a bunch of other parameters

  • Nice video. Have a question, one engineer with four engines, how is the load spread equally over the four engines when full power is needed. eg. so you're not killing one engine and the others aren't pulling their fair share?

  • They are linked together by a system called MUing. The trailing engines do exactly what is being done to the lead unit and no one unit is being overused.

  • Don't you guys think they should just have 2 engineers. I mean since you have to start of as a conductor, that means the engineer knows how to do the conductor's job. You'll have 2 guys in the cab that knows how to drive the train. That's how I think freight trains should be.

  • I have never seen or herd of a loaded drag going west out of Brunswick.

  • Is Union Pacific a good railroad to work for?

  • no they suck work for bnsf there great to work for i know from experience

  • I've heard they've cause problems in the past, but I do like Union Pacific engines especially ES44ACs and SD60Ms

  • I've got some questions. 1) If there is a brake problem in the middle of the forest or a mountain terrain or a very narrow bridge, does the conductor on the freight train have to get out and check it. 2) Do those freight locomotives have bathrooms. 3) Do they allow one cre to go fully cross country or to they have to change crews at a certain point, because they won't allow one crew to go all the way from like New York to like Tenesse or Chicago. I'm just extremely curious.

  • no they send a another engine to pull it away and use a new one no they dont have bathrooms and yes they have crew change points

  • So in other words if I were a CSX engineer living in NYC and my journey started, I don't know say Oaks Point in the Bronx, I wouldn't be able to operate the train all the way to East St.Louis or Memphis Tennesse or even Jacksonville Florida? That would suck. I guess one crew can only operate a train in one state, if things are different than please let me know, because I'm very interested in becoming a CSX engineer one day.

  • really me too im only 14 and i know that

  • Me I'm 23 and about to finish my automotive tech degree from BCC and then try to get with LIRR, because I hear that there hiring engineers off the streets and then after about a year or 2 transfer the engineering license over to CSX. BTW I hear that on freight lines you're allowed 1300 miles a month, so maybe you really do get to go long distances and to far out states before recrewing. Also I think they only work 6 months out the whole year.

  • Actually I did my own research and found out that those freight locomotives do have bathrooms and you do get to go through alot of states before recrewing, so it'll be interesting working for CSX as an engineer.

  • They have toilets in the nose section of the cab. How could they not? Ever see a crew pissing out a cab window?

  • i didnt know that but hey pissing out out of a gevo would be funny to watch

  • they have toilets Duh!

  • LMAO well

  • have they hidden the bell? i couldnt see it. and i hope that you can get a better job on NFSRR than CSX. i do concur that Norfolk Southern is better than CSX

  • No its there. At 00:26 you can see it poking out behind the fuel tank. I thought that the GEVOs had electronic bells on them now?

  • The new AC EVOs for CSX have the electronic bells. 5382 here is one of the DCs

  • CSX is going to have ES44AC by 2008.

  • They do already.

  • i just quit on csx,,that company fucking sux,,,if u whistle dick railfan freight train wanna b's would get ajob with them ,youd never want to see one of these pathetic fucking trains again,,the redi center in atlanta is a damn joke the instructors barely ahve a fucking year and a half with the railroad,,,they almost got me god damn killed

  • Thus why I am going through employment with Norfolk Southern.

  • i hope they treat you better than csx treated me,,good luck,,i talk to 4 other people i went to school with and all but 1 has quit,,

  • I never have heard good things about the insides of CSX. Norfolk Southern is supposed to be one of the best railroads to work for at the moment.

  • I got a question where did u go to locomotive school? im trying to find a school for this in ohio and im going to graduate and i really love this field

  • @TrainFreak409 no i was a freight conductor! dont say you like it till you try it! its a different ballgame, the pay sucks at first you may even starve! give it a shot good luck to you

  • @hayseed6969 I've now been with Norfolk Southern for three years now. I've had no complaints with the pay, nor is the work difficult. Management sucks, but it's hard to find good management anywhere.

  • @TrainFreak409 I highly doubt that NS management sucks. Maybe the real problem is that you suck.

  • @meccaturbo Oh no, they don't suck at all. They treat their employees like we're the enemies and push us to work faster than the rules will allow then preach safety safety safety. I don't know if you've ever worked on the railroad, but rushing this kinda work is the last thing you wanna do.

  • @TrainFreak409 NS is a good railroad, dude. Be glad you have a job and quit your whining, you stupid motherfucker. You sound like a typical lazy union member who's been eating too many donuts and is afraid of hard work.

  • @hayseed6969 Is the workforce wel unionised? That usually helps keep aggressive managements in check.

  • @SteffanLlwyd union???whata fucking joke! the company and the union are fucking eachother! they play golf together and the union headquaters is in jacksonville!! u tell me?? everytime you have a grievance they say ''well the company can do that'' they claim to be company friendly!! its all about you money FUCK CSX AND THE REDI CENTER!

  • @hayseed6969 Sad. That would leave wildcat action as the only way.

  • @hayseed6969 NS is a much better RR than CSX

  • very nice

  • Good video!

  • CSXT 292! I caught that one leading the T701 through here the other day.

  • I work that route and that train is moving west toward Cumberland, MD and were empty.

  • those are empties! look at the springs.

  • In all my time railfanning, i've never been out east, maybe I should go.

  • That train is the U324 train as I seen here, but rare for you, you caught the GEVO leading.

  • Wow, that train must not have had a hard time getting up a grade. I figured there would be a pusher unit at the end.

  • why didnt you show the whole video of the 200 cars?

  • do you have the full lenght video showing the 200?

  • Unfortunately not, no. I was railfanning for a good bit of the day, so I cut it off at 1 min 30 seconds to save space on my camera. It took well over 5 minutes to pass.

  • ThanX anyway...but 200 that's a lot of train!!! did it had a "Distributed Power" unit at the end?

  • It didn't, and that's what surprised me. They must not have had much of a grade ahead of them.

  • wow over 200
