  • Didn't Gene Rayburn co-write this song?

  • that's right. Gene Rayburn co-wrote this song with two other writers whose names are Whitlock and Sigman. I don't know Whitlock's first name but I suppose that the other one is Carl Sigman, who wrote many other hits. Hope this helps.

  • The sheet music says that it was written by William (Billy) Whitlock, Carl Sigman and Gene Rayburn and published in 1949.

  • "Hop Scotch Polka" was recorded on July 8th 1949. It's flip side, the funny "Dangerous Dan McGrew" was recorded the same day. Both songs appeared later on an album called "Enjoy Yourself". As for "You Can't Buy Happiness", I can't comment much since I heard it only once on a radio station maybe 20 years ago. "Five Foot Two..." appeared on the album "The band Played On", but "You Can't Buy Happiness" did not. Hope this helps.
