@hsmrmae I don't think he was 'encouraging' it but a lot of parents think that if their children are in a comitted relationship then sex is probably gonna happen anyway, may as well talk about it and get it out in the open than have it being this big secret that stands in the way of parents and their children. Plus, I think these two are both of age so there isn't really anything stopping them.

@hsmrmae Well, there is nothing wrong with one's sexual orientation. It's something we have to change the society's perspective on that. Parents should not have to adjust to their kids coming out. It should flow seamlessly.

I feel I must question the wisdom of any parent letting their 15-16 yearold child, gay or straight , have their boyfriend or girlfriend spend the night while they go out for the night with their child's teacher. I just don't think any child is ready at the age of 15 or sixteen to have a sexual realtionship plus I think Josh's dad gave in more to keep the peace and it was easier then sitting down and having an akward conversation about sex.

@shyathena34 I disagree. Those teenage years are a chance to explore your sexuality, find out who you are and get a sense of self. As long as its done safely I don't see the harm in it. Its all part of the development from being a child to becoming an adult in my opinion.

It's to bad that Nate's Father lost a son and Nate a brother in the war in Afghanistan but being a bully to your own son by not accepting that he's gay is just as bad as the homophobes who can't stand anyone who is different then themselves! Nate and Josh are gay and gay bashing their love will not bring back Nate's brother nor make up for the loss of his first born son! TinyB - I believe Josh & Nate are in year 11, making them 15 or 16. The age of consent (gay or straight) is 16, so they may not be 'underage'. Although many parents would not be as liberal as Tom, an increasing number are, or simply 'turn a blind eye'. We have transformed pretty rapidly in the UK from a rather conservative country to a fairly liberal one, for better or for worse.

Granted I was a teen in the 90s, but that's fairly unheard of where I'm from (and my community isn't particularly conservative).

Nate's telling him about his brother's death, he even cries, and all Josh cares about is that Nate didn't tell him before? Of course he cares. But they just sit next to each other. No hug, no holding hands, nothing. The weird thing here is that it's done on purpose. Tease a kiss, interrupt, tease a kiss, interrupt, break them up, bring them together, tease a kiss, interrupt, break them apart. Also boyfriends, especially teenagers, talk about such things as like, "Does your family know?"...
