I just got this game, had the ps2 one and played it for a while first, but then i got this for $20! The sound and visuals are THAT much clearer and sharper on the Wii, it rules!!!And don't get me started on the remote aiming. Headshots a plenty LOL ;)
apparantly there are rumours of a HD port being released on psn sometime in august before the release of operation raccoon city, so that would be pretty amazing :) love this game

@3dgar2oh Buy a Ps2 and/or gamecube. Every RE game besides 5 and wii exclusives are on those systems. You'll save major money at that. The wii exclusive games aren't that good, especially the rail shooters. So if you buy a wii I suggest playing chronicles with a friend or it can get boring. If you still want to play the wii exclusive, you should know that they are just remakes of games from ps2 and gamecube. I suggest getting a GC, buying re4 and re2 for it only.

@3dgar2oh The reason why you should only buy re4 and re2 for the GC is to 1, save a lot of money and 2, re2 and 4 are considered the best in the series. You'll most likely like re4 but you might not like re2 because of its controllers. If you dont like re2 then your only bet is to give up with the series, try to make yourself like it, or buy a wii and play the remakes.

I've played the other two versions as well as this one. I played the first two with my Dad, as well as other Resident Evil games. I stopped playing them when he died. But when this version came out I was like "Fuck yeah!" So I played this game in his honor.

Why is it nobodys went over how BAD this game looks when you play it in its zoomed in widescreen on the wii and ps2? You have to play it in its 4:3, original widescreen mode to make it look decent. I've played the wii version of many different tvs, and it looks horrible even for a wii game.
I've beaten the game about 6 times on GameCube, and another couple times on the Wii, and I still come back to it. I like playing Mercenaries a lot too. One of my favorite games of all time.

@DamonDoggXxX ? the PS2 ver was about 250 MB larger than the NGC ver... its not like the extra Ada mission required alot of space since all the textures and models where already on the disc from the main game. and if space really mattered then why were certain animations pre-rendered on the PS2 unlike the GC ver? both versions are the nearly identical but you are incorrect in your reasoning because i assume you dont know about software development.

It works relatively fine for other games, but my biggest issue is that it really isn't a constructive gameplay mechanic for this sort of game. My brother agrees, and he's more into these types of games than I am.

A rare example of a well done IGN review. Good footage, and Matt did a good job at reviewing it. However there are two issues that I have with this review. 1. Matt is trying WAY too hard to sound calm and collected. It's annoying, and his throat sounds dry. IGN needs to get new reviewers since all of them seem to have horrible voices for reviews.
2. This version got a ever-so-slightly worse score than the other versions. Why? It's the best version of the game. Be consistent, IGN.
I dont agree on this game being creepy! maybe a bit, but not really. maybe Im saying this because im a big fan of the fatal frame series (project zero in europa), and this series is more creepy than anything I expierienced before, love it!
in germany u have the problem with the bargain price, it is 29,99 euro (more than 29,99 dolars...) but the germany version is cut. violence cut and no extra missions. so we need the austrian or english one. and the austrian ppl abuse that on any game(50 euros)

prime 3, no contest. resident evil is great, its in my top ten, but metroid is what you should go with. its a longer game, with more secrets, etc. RE is still good, but you'll get more bang for your buck with metroid.

I thought the whole laser pointer instead of crosshair idea was great in the ps2 version. I kinda am upset that its not in the wii, though i understand that would be weird with the pointer system
It was released in 2005 on Gamecube and then on PS2 and then in 2007 on Wii and Windows. Its basically for those who missed on the Gamecube/PS2 versions. Capcom always ends up porting their games to other systems just to make a quick buck. Had it not been released before it would of gotten a 10.
My PS2 version is crapping out on me and saving only half the time. A problem that started a year ago, but only got worse until today, and I simply can't take it. I haven't unlocked everything, I'm only going through on Professional now for that laser gun. But the game lost it's most recent saves three times so far in just one playthrough up to chapter 4-1. The problem can only get worse, so is the Wii version worth it for me? I once saw it at 20 dollars.
And it was totally worth it. The Wii's controls make the game even more brilliant, and more playable. These days, you can find the Wii version for 20$. The extra 10 instead of the PS2 version is so worth it for the motion controls and better sound quality.
@RYNO2511 For 60 bucks, I would still say it is worth it. It will have you on the edge of your seat all the time, both in excitement, and wanting to turn the game off because you never know what will come round that next corner, lol.
I got the gamecube version and am not sure if this one is worth it, especially since the graphics werent really iimproved and theres no Wii only or new content in the game
I can't wait for Wii to release Resident Evil Chronicles: Resident Evil 2 & Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. I also can't wait for Resident Evil 5 Wii Edition. Wii is doing a great job, the graphics aren't as good as the competition, the games aren't as competitive or serious for the most part but Wii gives a good mixture of games from Call of Duty, Resident Evil, House of the Dead to Mario, Metroid, Mario Kart & Metroid. I have the most fun with the Wii.
I have both Resi 4 and 5 but i think that resi 4 is scarier and one of the best singleplyr games I've ever played but with resi 5 its more action packed and isn't even scary but an awesome Co-Op game.

Resident Evil 4 PC version was the best one of them all.
I know it was a port (a very poor one) but when you add texture mods, and xbox 360 buttons to it, it puts Resident Evil 5 graphics to shame.

More accuracy? Pin point accuracy? ._. I feel like we're not talking about the same Wii here. Because all my Wii does is shoot the invisible butterflies at the corner of the screen... and the Wii waggles? That was just dumb. I prefer the PS2 version.

@twilightscribe many reasons why that happens. 1-is the sensor bar adjusted properly? 2- are you aiming properly 3- dont play in too much light. And more

@bibblytib The sensor bar is adjusted properly, I was aiming properly and playing in decent lighting. It works relatively fine for other games, but my biggest issue is that it really isn't a constructive gameplay mechanic for this sort of game. My brother agrees, and he's more into these types of games than I am.

KEEP IN MIND that even the WII edition doesn't support WIDESCREEN 16:9 !!!
Your tv will stretch the image thats why it looks blurry !!
Go to you tv settings and change to 4:3 and see the real graphics
I Know its more playable in 16:9 "tv support"
Pikmin 2 wii edition has a option to set it to 16:9 so nintendo did a good job

A rare example of a well done IGN review. Good footage, and Matt did a good job at reviewing it. However there are two issues that I have with this review. 1. Matt is trying WAY too hard to sound calm and collected. It's annoying, and his throat sounds dry. IGN needs to get new reviewers since all of them seem to have horrible voices for reviews.
2. This version got a ever-so-slightly worse score than the other versions. Why? It's the best version of the game. Be consistent, IGN.

I dont agree on this game being creepy! maybe a bit, but not really. maybe Im saying this because im a big fan of the fatal frame series (project zero in europa), and this series is more creepy than anything I expierienced before, love it!
in germany u have the problem with the bargain price, it is 29,99 euro (more than 29,99 dolars...) but the germany version is cut. violence cut and no extra missions. so we need the austrian or english one. and the austrian ppl abuse that on any game(50 euros)

prime 3, no contest. resident evil is great, its in my top ten, but metroid is what you should go with. its a longer game, with more secrets, etc. RE is still good, but you'll get more bang for your buck with metroid.

It was released in 2005 on Gamecube and then on PS2 and then in 2007 on Wii and Windows. Its basically for those who missed on the Gamecube/PS2 versions. Capcom always ends up porting their games to other systems just to make a quick buck. Had it not been released before it would of gotten a 10.

My PS2 version is crapping out on me and saving only half the time. A problem that started a year ago, but only got worse until today, and I simply can't take it. I haven't unlocked everything, I'm only going through on Professional now for that laser gun. But the game lost it's most recent saves three times so far in just one playthrough up to chapter 4-1. The problem can only get worse, so is the Wii version worth it for me? I once saw it at 20 dollars.

And it was totally worth it. The Wii's controls make the game even more brilliant, and more playable. These days, you can find the Wii version for 20$. The extra 10 instead of the PS2 version is so worth it for the motion controls and better sound quality.

I can't wait for Wii to release Resident Evil Chronicles: Resident Evil 2 & Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. I also can't wait for Resident Evil 5 Wii Edition. Wii is doing a great job, the graphics aren't as good as the competition, the games aren't as competitive or serious for the most part but Wii gives a good mixture of games from Call of Duty, Resident Evil, House of the Dead to Mario, Metroid, Mario Kart & Metroid. I have the most fun with the Wii.
