Thank god, Nintendo had enough sense to not sell their license to a movie company to have a film adaptation for Legend of Zelda made after this movie bombed. Because like that completely stupid cartoon adaptation in the 80's on the Super Mario Super Show, Link's main goal on the Hollywood big screen will be just another drooling, horny cliche'd idiot trying to hump Princess Zelda's backside than saving Hyrule. Which of course, is completely unrelated to the game series.

The odd thing is, I actually kinda like the characters in this movie. I thought Leguizamo and Mathis had pretty good chemistry. The story just sucked and the fact that they slapped Super Mario on it made it even worse.

I don't think there's any way to make a passable live action Mario movie. In all honesty, I don't know that a CG version would work either. Aside from "yahoo" and "weehee," Nintendo has pretty much established Mario as a mute character.
