I grew up just blocks from here. As kids, a neighbor would take us swimming. Yep, illegal, but great memories. It was a great place, really pretty. One summer, there were jelly fish - really. One of the little boys was bitten. Too bad the sun wasn't shining the day you shot this.
Also, when u come in the park from the south, the drive way off of fairgrounds st, go down til u see the 2 concrete walls, there is a train just after u pass those on the right, walk up that trail and u should come to a slop going down into the water, notice the large ' concrete ' like block in the water? its a crane! it slid in the water years an years ago, in the right light setting, normally the evening hours, u can see the actuall boom of the crane pointing upwards towards the surface
i'm not trying to uin ur fun so don't b**ch at me, and i'm not sure how this went but 1 or the other, a guy jumped off of that cliff, hit a rock and either got very badly hurt, or died. i dont remember exactly but i'm sure u can read about it online. and another fyi, i know alot of the marion city police officers, and some of them will give u a fine, and some even arrest u for jumping off of that cliff, and even for simpley swimming there, others will just ask u to leave.
as well there several death traps not including the cliff. alot of coyotes live in the far west side ( near kelog park way ) and top add to that there r some huge fish in the both ponds. catfish put to 25lbs, largemouth bass pushing the 10lb mark and fyi, jumping off the big cliff is half a*sed idea, there is a large rock in the water there and many other objects---
i live less than 1/2 mile from here, it was called Evans Quarry. those, what i call castle like structures? there used to be hundreds of those there before i was born. u can find indian arrow heads in the north park. there r caves on the sides of the cliff along with an under water cave just feet away from the cliff where ppl jump off. ( running out of space )
