This is good, but I wish they would have given Dan Savage more opportunity to speak: he's the most articulate and on-point of the bunch (plus, he's really funny).
Smashed the point with Anthony Wiener. Dan has another video where he said a public official will get caught sexting, then someone will admit to sexting during office, then photos will surface of someone sexting and it wont impact their campaign, then someone will lead a campaign with pictures of their dick or something similar. It's just reactionary double standards. Either one can get away with anything legal in private or one can't.
Not to mention she pullled the dick move of "I didn't say it, some people said it" if you didn't think it was worth repeating, don't fucking repeat it. You're not hosting a Q and A.
obviously he's a complete dumbass douche, but its a completely patheic that this has JUST happened 2 days ago and southwest says he's already off suspension and has ALREADY been through diversity training.....really???....was that a 15 minute course or what??.....southwest isn't taking this seriously enough!!!
@CE750 Why is it PC? If the airline chose to suspend the pilot it would be a smart move to cover their own azzez. All it takes is for one flight attendant to have a copy of the rant, complain, and file a hostile work environment lawsuit and it could cost the airline millions.
I don't understand why you think refraining from going off on a rant about a stereotypes of a minority group while your on the clock at your professional work is being PC lol.
@regemo well, with the limited space I have to answer you, it's best to just say that unless a)you're a straight single male, and b)an airline pilot, you'll likely never understand why his discussion with his first officer doesn't even merit a second look... In other words, if you don't like what he said and want to fire him over it, then you'll have to fire possibly 1/2 of all the pilots I've ever flown with over the past 15 years.. Get it? (somehow I think you wont).
@CE750 That's subjective answer, based on how you or I "feel" about it. It means almost nothing when it comes to lawsuits and someone suing the airline for millions due to a hostile work environment. And they would have a good possibility of winning that lawsuit.
I have been in work environments with problems like this. And companies suspend and fire for a reason. To protect themselves from lawsuits.
@CE750 I couldn't agree more. When we, as pilots, become certified flight instructors first, we learn about a defense mechanism called projection. This pilot projected his anger with management hiring as many "non-beautiful, single women as they used to. See my video, in part, defending this pilot.
"The only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about." - Oscar Wilde. I am not sure that I, as a gay man, am that hurt by what the pilot said. Everyone talks about everyone else behind their backs, sometimes it is personal, sometimes it is, racist, sexist, classist, or whatever-ist. Maybe the pilot should privately apologize to the flight attendents. In most professional situations that would be the least that would be expected of him.
@soundscape718 Exposure; I went to high school with a lot of gay guys, realized they were good people, and dropped my bible-based bigotry. Sometimes it gets ingrained, unfortunately.
I love gay pride!! Normally I would travel to Toronto for pride, but this year we had our very first gay pride week in our little town of Thunder bay. So finally for the first time I got to take my 60yr. old parents with me. They loved it and I will have something to remember for the rest of my life :)
well if the pilot had a rant about black people being disgusting to the society, he would be fired quicker than the speed of light. but if its about gay people he is let go. double standard any1?
@sadguyfoundout1 Let's not make this about race. As a black gay man I get tired of this Gay v. Black debate. I understand the point you're trying to make but it falls moot. Black have worked long and hard to get to this point where they aren't easily/openly discriminated against, let's remember blacks are still discriminated against.. just not openly. Us gays are on the right track to get to where Blacks are now but until we get there we need to keep calling out idiots like this SW Pilot.
Alec Mapa was right about the way a lot of straight guys talk to each other when we think no one's listening; I've heard so much crap like that pilot's rant.
This is good, but I wish they would have given Dan Savage more opportunity to speak: he's the most articulate and on-point of the bunch (plus, he's really funny).

Let's be honest, 1 pilot is worth 30 attendants. Sorry.
