@TheVideo5094 Actually the two "main" schools are neo-Keynesian and neoclassical. Austrian is not a "main" school. Austrian economics is heterodox. And in the opinion of most economists...just plain out wrong. It is not better. We did not have the Great Depression 2.0 in 2008 because we used tools from both neo-Keynesian (fiscal stimulus) and neoclassical schools (monetary stimulus). If we went with Austrian school...we'd have 25% unemployment and massive contraction right now.

And yes, recessions did happen before central banking.

He's clearly expressing that he thinks that a bad thing, so he's not attempting to reduce USA's jobs. I have had 2 small businesses, and have worked in several. Taxes, regulations, health insurance and bad interest rates are a killer. These are all things that are part of a rotten system that he is at the very least addressing while most other candidates are putting their heads in the sand.

When the central bank creates money from nothing, the value of the dollar in your pocket diminishes without a vote from you or the congress. @TheVideo5094 Actually the two "main" schools are neo-Keynesian and neoclassical. Austrian is not a "main" school. Austrian economics is heterodox. And in the opinion of most economists...just plain out wrong. It is not better. We did not have the Great Depression 2.0 in 2008 because we used tools from both neo-Keynesian (fiscal stimulus) and neoclassical schools (monetary stimulus). If we went with Austrian school...we'd have 25% unemployment and massive contraction right now.

@TheGamerJoseph Mainstream economists are hardly "in power." Just academics. Including the economic greats: Friedman, Keynes. It's not about completely believing what the mainstream says, but rather not to go search for heterodox explanations that make zero sense. The Austrian school belief that central banking worsens booms/busts is just false: recessions since the advent of the Fed on average have been less severe compared to those before. And yes, recessions did happen before central banking.

@RJWooller: around 5-6 minutes he talks about how incorrect regulation causes businesses to leave the US. He's clearly expressing that he thinks that a bad thing, so he's not attempting to reduce USA's jobs. I have had 2 small businesses, and have worked in several. Taxes, regulations, health insurance and bad interest rates are a killer. These are all things that are part of a rotten system that he is at the very least addressing while most other candidates are putting their heads in the sand.

@zsiyw He is saying the person doesn't matter. The very purpose of the Federal Reserve is an evil purpose. The King of England had a central bank and was therefor always at war. When the central bank creates money from nothing, the value of the dollar in your pocket diminishes without a vote from you or the congress. It is a direct tax, and affects the poor more than the rich. The recipients of the new money did nothing to earn it. That is theft and is evil, and is the purpose of the system.
