I have this song on my hard drive and am currently rockin it right now. I try to expose my daughter to the old school rap scene because these (so called) rappers today are like eating whipped cream...all fluff and no sustenance. I tire of hearing how much money you have, how many times you can call a woman a b*tch, how many kilos you claim to move, etc, etc. I wonder how many old school artists are still spittin today? I hope that Ms Winley is still rockin' it! Mad love to Ms Winley and all!
this soong is sooo deff! definately in my top faves, though its hard to believe i wasnt even born when this came out lol, an even my moms was only 6 years old at this time, shame she didnt put out much but of the 3 songs i have from her i gotta say she 1 of my alltime fave lady devastaters long wit roxanne laurynn, monie & linque etc, i love my old skool, not many Emcees can flow that long an still sound nice, she dont need no chorus no nuttin, OLD SKOOL 4 LYFE!!
Blackmac: it's good to hear your appreciation and respect for what these pioneers did for hip-hop back in the day. This material must live on..absolutely killer track! So raw and so real.. It doesn't get much better than this and this was right at the start of it all. Apparently Paul Winley heard his daughter reciting raps she'd heard in the school playground and stuck her in a studio to record this.. what some claim to be one of the first female rap records. Timeless... nobody does it better.
@eimajecnerwal Marty Mart. Mr. Marty He was a Guitar Player not Marley Marl the DJ. Old Harlem Cats. I was 9 when this was made. My sis used to hang out with T, Jackie J and "Big Bad" Stokes, she was hardcore. Turkey on Drums and Perc, KD bass Marty Mart Guitar
@Khaliqdialectic Thankyou. For 24 years I've been telling people that it's Marley Marl but I stand corrected! It makes me a bit sad listening to this, what hip hop could have become compared to what it has become. Oh well, I suppose that's just the old fart in me. Thanks again.
Waste. Sorry. Paul Winley was her father and he started the label. She could rhyme on the level of Sha-Rock. She was that good. "Let the government know what we all about"
Damm This jawn is funky!! Real Musicians! No sampling! Real talent!! Sweet tee is hittin hard on this one! The groove is funky as hell Damm I likes this don't remember this joint but it is hot and im sure it can still rock a party!
