I bought the singles back in the early 80s but hadnt seen the album anywhere until a few years ago when I was lucky enough to pick up a copy for 25 quid.
Bob Smeaton went into television, remember Spender? Also went onto produce, make television ,recent hendrix doc' The squad what a great band and great Lp
This is great, I just woke up the other day with this song in my head and here it is!. Did the singer ever do any acting, I remember a film about a Northumbrian farm where he plays a farmer with a brother who is gay, Sammy Sez is also an excellent track I would love a copy of the album
Aah memories !! Alreet John Miller ? Anybody got anything by The Squad ? I'd love to get hold of their album - especially to hear a live version of 126 lbs Beautiful - Stu Burns' brooding solo - always a treat as I remember ! R.I.P. Stu
How fantastic, Whiteheat were a huge [art of my social life till that Sad last Mayfair concert. They should have been huge. Thanks much for this. I've even transferred my vinyl album onto my ipod. love SNOZ, friend of Angie, Girlfriend of Courty.
omg unbelievable posting and thans very much poster i saw white heat at mingles one balmy summers night in whitley bay . would love to hear finished with the fashion and ordinary joe again . for steve simpson rip matey !
This song never get's old, I ran across the track "Nervous Breakdown" on a Mp3 belonging to the original EP upload. Haven't been able to find anymore of their stuff. It's a shame
So good to see the band after all this time.We used to follow them all over, I still listen to in the zero hour in me car as I put it onto disc.Never get sick of it. Such an injustice that they never hit the big time. What a waste. Thanks for the memories Sarah.
I think I must have been at one of their very first gigs in one of the pubs on Gosforth High St.
I got all their singles and the one LP but if there is anything else around I'd really like to find it.
I'm glad Bob Smeaton did so well behind the scenes after, but they really deserved to make it big - when you compare with some of the bands that made it.
Who remembers the Balmbras on Thursday nights and the Cooperage. White Heat & The Squad were great: the good old days.
Hi barry,my name is les & like yourself i am still a great fan of white heat but cannot find any of their stuff any-where,seen them many times years ago as my mate kev joice was their lights man, i was even in the"city beat" video. please reply to this as i will pay for a copy of all the material you have. cheers mate. Les
Seems like I have much in common with others above - I was too young to see them as White Heat (my brother and sister were both at this recording) but saw them literally hundred of times as The Loud Guitars - so many great nights (and Sunday lunchtimes).
Was also great to see Bob Smeaton in the Evening Chronicle as director of the Spice Girls documentary (although thet totally skipped his music career).
Fantastic to see this on here.I seen them a few times as white heat and many times as the loud guitars at the Newcastle playhouse. Bob Smeaton is my cousin and Im sure that somewhere I have a copy of the whole video with a few more songs on it. Will try and put them on here.
just came across this, took me back a few years & the hooray boys there were many good bands around the toon at the time the squad and southbound to name a couple.
i would really like to get hold of any white heat material on cd or any otner format than yinyl
Roll back those years, i was fortunate to see White Heat a fair few times at the start of the 80's (pie and peas anyone) before they split and many many times as the Loud Guitars. I was also there the night this was recorded but cannot be seen although two of my pals are at the front. Tony this was recorded for ITV's check it out and was a 1/2 hr programme. They also did Ordinary Joe, Love In The Zero Hour, 21 & Wasted and others i can't recall. Cheers for posting Sarah
Good to see this again Sarah. I was there the night this was recorded - I'm one of the nutters at the front ! Have you got the other songs that Tyne Tees recorded that night - from memory they did four ?
I've got them on video tape somewhere and various still photos I took of the band over the years at different gigs.
hey this is from when i was a young lad i missed most of the white heat years but saw them loads as the loud guitars. Hows about getting back toghether for a couple of gigs they could even do a japanese tour lol only joking but its real good to see the vid
