@hardcorefrom94 Well I guess you don't bother to look very far. He gives lots and lots of advice covering all aspects of photography. He's on YT, Twitter has a daily blog and all that for free. He has tons of books does workshops and on and on. My advise to you if you are getting into photography. Before you do anything, Open your friggin eyes and stop whining.
@newcoyote Kudos to you! I guess people just don't realize who Rick is, and that he's one of the "Explorers of Light". Best advice... Open eyes & ears, keep shooting, and learn.
"This guy" is one of the premier photographers in the world. He is giving us an overview of his gear and what he uses it for. It's not supposed to be an in depth tutorial.
Does he realize that you can't see the detail that the lens are capable in those example pictures? Youtube isn't the best forum for viewing high resolution photography.
I could be wrong but you don't want to format your cards. When you do it reuses the same section of memory, and raises the potential for card failure.
@esotericsean would you rather lose 2 gb of pictures or 32 gb of pictures. Many Pros and even amateur enthusiasts use what some people would consider small capacity cards because sooner or later cards fail and I dunno about you but i would much prefer to lose a few pics than all my days shooting :)
Haha, that's alot of extra weight. The two bodies with two lenses will do for almost everything, you don't need to carry all that crap at the same time. But probably he doesn't, it's just for show of.
Are you F'ing kidding me.........What do you have 3 assistants to walk into the woods? I'd put my rolleiflex or hasselblad up against your 25,000 dollars worth of plastic crap any day of the week
It's my dream to become a pro-photographer like Rick and travel the world taking pictures of anything and everything. I use Nikon rather than Cannon but still, these videos of his have helped me a lot!
that is alot like me, i have a lot of gear and i have 2-3 bags to carry all camera lens flash and 2-3 camera bodies...but i dont have diffusers or reflectors
Very interesting! It's funny to have read so much lately around dslr and all the equipment you might need/want, and then see them all gathered in your bags :)
But however interesting this was (it sure was), I would find it even more fantastic if you could share some of your tips, experience, concerning the taking of photos and what to think about. Maybe something that even an amateur can find useful?
wow, that's a lot of camera gear to take out into the field, i rarely take more than my 1d mark2n, 24-70, and 70-200 when i shoot; of course i'd love to have a wide angle, tele's, long zoom, tripod, flash, etc. but good god who has the money or the sheer strength to carry all of that; it's nice to have all those tools at your disposal, especially if you're a pro, but i've always believed in planning your shoot and bringing only what you need
wow, that's a lot of gear to carry on one shoot, i rarely have more than 2 or 3 lenses and one camera body with me; i'm not a professional but i have friends who are and none of them would be caught dead traveling with the more than $10K amount of equipment he has, geesh
You can carry 7kg on you for say a 4 hour hill walk with minimal trouble. If your of able body why arent you doing exercise in the first place.
Graynven 1 year ago
man carrying tha weight around is suicide i just take a 18-200mm lens and a wide angle with 3 filters, and a tripod.

Way too much stuff for a single person on location. Only 2GB CF cards? What is this, 2002?

@Rolodojo Point taken. But I would probably need about 100 2GB CF cards for a days worth of shooting :P

crush1with1eyeliner 4 years ago
It might be. But hey. It's a jacket with many sized pockets. Perfect for photographers because the most essential equipment ranges in sizes!
