  • I don't know what's higher. Lowell George or Bill Payne's waistband. Cracking band. One of my all time favourite drummers.

  • 8000 views ...0 dislikes ...... just the way it should be....

  • when they go from dixie chicken to this on waiting for columbus..it might be the best start to any album in the history of recorded music..thanks for the upload bud. it must have been a lot of fun hanging w/ these guys..one of the tightest bands ever..

  • @skontch1 When I was going to rehearsals and gigs this was the original foursome with Roy Estrada on bass. I did meet Paul over at Richie's one evening, as well. Besides the first class playing, these guys were extremely intelligent...And obviously, that's one of the attractions for all of us Feat fanatics.....that and music with an edge...

"I don't care if it's John Wayne, Dorothy Lamour or the UnHoly Four, I just don't want to talk to 'em now."

  • @WestLAGuy

If I'm going to quote Lowell George it isn't too much to ask that I get it right now is it?

From APOLITICAL BLUES it should read:

" I don't care if it's the UnHoly Four, John Wayne and Dorothy Lamour, I just don't wanna talk to 'em now."

  • @WestLAGuy

It is in my humble opinion, "I don't care if it's THE FUND HOLDER FOR, John Wayne and Dorothy Lamour...

  • Interesting thought, but I think Lowell was referencing the 1954 film The UnHoly Four where a guy goes fishing with three of his buddies and disappears for 4 years. Lowell liked to fish, during the recording of the first Little Feat album he cut his left hand clelaning a fish he caught and that's why Ry Cooder was on it..This was an ad lib from the "Waiting for Columbus" live track with Mick Taylor...I haven't seen it on any "Apolitical Blues" lyric posting

  • Lowell George .. Man what a Guitar player, performer .. How many guys could play the slide like that, and tune the thing mid song by ear .. Damn man thats a one helluva player. RIP

  • This is great! I underestimated it the 1st time I watched it. And it's the only video I've seen in which you can tell that Lowell George was overweight. They said he was 307 pounds when he died, although I can't really believe that unless he was taller than he appears from what we can see.

  • @Onlymusical

Yes, Lowell was CLOSE to 300 pounds when he died. I have a couple of pictures of him taken shortly before his death, and he was definately heavier than this vid. Chubby or not, I loved him like no other rocker before or since...sigh....

  • Not as fabulous as the studio version but still quite fine.

  • Thanks for sharing a great video along with your priceless memories. I still sometimes can't believe that Richie and Lowell are gone, but their music is the music of my youth and will be with me until it's my time to be missed.

  • Love Little Feat, this song, Lowell George...and love your story of your time spent with them.

    Lowell George RIP soo loved!!

  • absolutely top shelf dance band live '76, better than almost everybody else live except the stones and the dead

  • great post and thanks to WestLAGuy

  • LF performing in the Phoenix area tomorrow night 10/22/11 !!!!!

  • One of my favorite bands of all time. I missed an opportunity to see them before Lowell George died but saw them at the Warner Theater in DC in the early eighties and it was an awesome show. Could not walk across campus in college without hearing Waiting for Columbus playing out some dorm room window. Lots of great memories!

  • @escmunchkin

Little Feat post Lowell George was one of the very few bands I can recall able to move ahead and play great music, albeit a different approach than it had with Lowell. I have their first two CD's, "Let It Roll" and "Representing The Mambo" and they're terrific! And with so many great "live" players in the band, I'm sure the show you caught in DC kicked ass.

  • @escmunchkin couldnt agree more what a kick ass group this was ...luv Billy Payne that man could ticlke the ivoys ....use to drive Hwy 1 all the time listening to them.

  • I don't like potato chips and can't take torts!

  • saw em live in the 70s, what a fuckin show,

  • Lowell George - live - Gets no better than this.

    Miss ya, LG, RIP

  • ....thank you for this, WLAGUY.... wore out 2 copies of "Columbus" back in the day..... great sound on this clip.... again, mucho thanks.... roll'em easy....

  • Thanks WLAGUY for posting! I had another Tripe Face Boogie vid on my favorites list and it got taken off for copyright blah blah blah. Now I have it again! YEEAAA!
