  • hey...same here..i'm a Who fanatic. If you r interested in really learning the nuances of other guitar players...there is a program that i downloaded online for $50.00 called AMazing Slowdowner...its the only thing i've been able to use to help me learn guitar parts that go by fast...check it out...What version of Naked eye is this by the way....I've learned it from the Young Vic...

  • @alsaxe1 I'll check out the program.....and thanks for the lead. This lesson is just a by ear general interpretation, its not based on any one particular performance. Keep at it! Thats all we can do. Speak soon again, G.

  • @superfuzzymomma gotta love the different way that pete approaches guitar playing back in the day. He was a bit off at times w/his solos, but he played and still plays w/passion. I'm not much of a fan of his current style. He uses alot of thumb and index finger. His lead playing is very sporadic now and he tends to lean on the whammy bar alot nowadays

  • @alsaxe1 Pete always said that he was the rhythm player in the Who, it was Entwhistle who played lead bass. You can't beat vintage Townshend for the dynamics in his playing - sheer earsplitting angst to soft and delicate. Also interesting to note how his lead playing has changed as he has gotten older....yea, maybe a little to much use of the whammy sometimes...but a lot of finger style stuff in his later career solos. God love the man! He's the authority round here!

  • @superfuzzymomma i agree...whenever i felt down and out as a skinny awkward teenager..i put on, either Live at leeds, tommy, or who's next. The cheapest therapist there was..lol....he's my primary guitar influence, then leslie west, peter frampton, early joe walsh, not neccessarily in that order...

  • @alsaxe1 Same here, that stuff bolsters you with a like a brash confidence right when you need it...or something like that. We like some of the same , fine players. Saw Joe W. gig at Electric Factory early nineties...Joe was playing one of his Les Pauls...he had, still to this day, the most amazing tone I've ever heard live. I talk with a cat who was on the scene with Leslie W. in the day....I should PM you a story or two....How about Billy Gibbons?

  • @superfuzzymomma i saw zz top in 74. they opened for ten years after..i liked them when they were a good texas blues/rock band. I hated it when they started to write for mass comsumption. i love alvin lee also...one of these days i'll work on his stuff too...Leslie had the best tone in the 70s...i hate his processed tone nowadays...

  • @alsaxe1 No kidding?..Great Bill! Far as early / later ZZ, no question there, brother. Yea, Leslie and his Sunn's back in the day? The heaviest.

  • @superfuzzymomma ah..so u know about the sunn amps!...u r giving away your age...lol...nice les paul in the vid by the way..good tone also...where u from?

  • @alsaxe1 Thats funny man, I'm giving away my own age! I thought you were a kid first off! Well, ya could have been two at the ZZ /Yen Years concert? I'm from Bergen County New Jersey, where Bob Dylan likes to visit in the middle of the night! I'll PM you that Leslie story later on today, names Glenn, Nice to meet you, bro!

  • @superfuzzymomma i'm from bklyn...we're neighbors.

  • @alsaxe1 - Mountain - Live Theme From an Imaginary Western, - You've seen this one right? I think its Cincinnati, 71. One of the best solos on YouTube.

  • @superfuzzymomma i know the vid you're talking about..that is an awesome version of Theme...i love the two solos

  • hey..nice job....at 4:17 try a form of an F chord. F add 2 add 6. the same as u play it at 6:25....That's the way i hear it..lol...i may very well be wrong...i'll try it the way that u played

  • @alsaxe1 You may also be right, bro....I know it by ear so am always open to being proved wrong!....I consider you as amending and expanding upon my presentation here...All the more to offer in the expanse of learning! Thanks alsaxe1

    Glenn

  • This is a really great lesson.

Thanks for taking the time to post it.

You break it down very well and make it clear and easy to follow.

    Thanks again,

    Kevin

  • @kanstey99 Kevin,

My pleasure! Thanks for the nice words. Wish I had time to do more, really.

    Glenn

  • Great work and great lesson man, we really apreciate people spending their time teaching good lessons like this one. Thanks a lot!

  • @erkily And I thank you for taking the time for the kind words!

  • what an awesome tone man! is that pure acoustic?

  • @SuperBluesMetal Volume real low on amp. Thank you for taking the time, ya know? - Glenn!

  • Great work!!!

I F##KIN LOVE ROCKIN MY GIBSON'S TO THIS.!

  • thanks for this - it is exactly what I was looking for. The tabs on line were accurate, but you make it come together and seem less overwhelming. Not really that difficult - just making sure the flat picking in the beginning stays clean. You also have a good style of instruction. Thanks for your time and generosity - hope to be good enough to post my own some day!

  • @MarcoJfrisbee I'm really glad you found it helpful - I have no idea what I'm doing and winging it all the way! And, man, I'm sure you will post your own soon enough! These tunes may seem overwhelming for somebody just starting out, but trust me, someone who learned twenty six years ago by ear, this stuff is rudimentary. Its all in the "attitude" and rhythmic precision. If your ever needing any help with anything, I hope you'll ask, cool?

Glenn - sorry for the delay - recently homeless.

  • what model gibby fuzzymamma?

  • @geneiv CHEAP!
