I shave with a 2 blade razor, Nivea Sensitive Shaving gel, and shave with and against grain, and i put some more shaving gel where i have a little bit more hair and shave their only with a few strokes, and its awesome. I found that if you try to shave it without shaving gel and go over too many times, it gets irritated, and even bloody. and it hurts like hell :)
@TeslaDRay I've considered trying that but never have. I'm pretty satisfied with anything that works, the simpler the better. Sometimes I use Selson Blue actually because I get flare ups of seborrheic dermatitis; it's recommended for that.
yeah i use those razors you're using too, the bic, but i use the orange ones (sensitive skin). i just proved it too as i hadnt shaved since wednesday and had a bit of a beard going till today and shaved only against the grain. it was actually easier than shaving every other day as my beard softened. anyway shave was perfect - no irritation, no bumps. and my skin is axctually fairly sensitive too, what does that tell you? try dove bar soap with moisterizer and then witchhazel.
I see some irritation on his neck and or cuts. He went over the face way to many times with the blade. One smooth stroke. Try to go over the face in one smooth stroke about 2 to 3 inches at a time. My face used to get irritated and now nothing. His face was way redder than mine is after shaving. It works.
@jessehbk3 I would say it'd be best for me to do it every day. Sometimes I skip though. How often you should shave depends on your skin. If you shave too much, it can cause irritation. Some people can't let it grow out for more than a few days without their skin getting red and flaky. So it's about what's right for you, as far as how often you should.
i8 shave every other day, i dont even bother going with hte grain, only against and you can get away with it too. i have a decent thick beard (not very thick) and semi sensitive skin near the neck and it comes out okay. i used dove bar soap with moisterizer, but i didi use shave soap but when you rinse off, it leave your skin....squeaky. after, use some witch hazel as it is a natiral aftershave and comats ingrown hairs. mantic59 on youtube taught me/us that. decent vid though.
My dad didn't teach me to shave. I had to pretty much "wing it" since I was 15. I'm 20 and I still don't do it right, if I shave with the grain I don't get a close enough shave and if I shave against the grain I get razor burn bad. If I ever have a son I swear I'm going to teach him...thanks, this was helpful.
Hey. Yea, that sounds like my situation. I got what I know from the internet and also the local barber. I'd first seen the hot towel thing in a movie, too actually.
wut razor is that you were using? iv gone through so many razors and i still havnt found the best one yet for me lol. also any tips on how to grow a thicker beard? my hair on side of my face grows out so light.
@AnthonyProductions09 I hate to say it, but I've found those 5 blade razors to be very comfortable to use. I use 3 blade because I don't want to pay more for the 5 blade. As far as you, I'll tell you some people grow facial hair more evenly. A lot of people, you will find, start out with "peach fuzz" on their upper lip. So, it doesn't start out evenly and never grows that way. It's odd. I can't explain it either; I guess it's hormonal.
this educated me thanks!

Using cool water after the shave is a new tip for me. I'll try it out, thanks for sharing.

I never shave with the grain, its impossible for me to have a good shave like that, always shave once and it's against the grain

If you are prone to bleeding after shaving just get a shower and the bleeding should be stopped by the time you are done showering.

I think its a lot harder when you are black, and have curlier hair T_T

I think the reason the barber says to go down afterwards is to prevent razor bumps from ingrown hairs.
DiverseLA 1 year ago
Shave against the grain for deeper, cleaner shaves. But if you have a razor bump problem, shaving with the grain might be best.

is that water running in the background or just the camera?

You should get rid of those awful disposible razors and start using a DE (double edge) vintage safety razor. Cheaper...cooler...better shave.
And if you want THE best shave around, get yourself a straight razor. Cheapest...coolest....best!

No. It's some Nivia Body Wash / Shampoo / Shave Gel...basically the bottle says you can use it for anything but brushing your teeth.
