I danced to this song @ school during recreation time, it was the jam, and ofcourse we didnt know what the words meant , LOL we knew it had a fierce beat, and I actually got to ssee her perform at the washington DC ,hilton hotel in concert I think it may have been 1968, it was awesome, she was with hugh maskela, RIP Miriam
At this summer camp I went to, there was a dance that goes to this..and whenever the song starts playing, you stop whatever you doing and run to the main cabin thing..and start dancing to the song!! hehe it brings back awesome memories <3
Wow... fantastic music. I love it!!! Does anyone know what year this concert would have been filmed in (or what decade, if you're not sure on the exact year)?
RIP The diva a.k.a MAMA AFRICA! We will miss U she is one of true hero Africa has ever had! My ur soul rest in peace! If I 'll have a daughter her name will be MAKEBA
Xosha is the lang. Pata Pata means feel feel, like it is a song of touching each other (usually men and women) but hey Pata Pata who ever you feel like.
Ah it is a sweet song......you can see that by their faces. It gets everyone going. Like the electric slide record LOL. You are so welcome to the info. Miriam Makeba is a person who will, and should, be honored more than anyone of us ever will honor her. I felt so badly that she died, then I thought, SHE LIVED, and that was the most important part of her life and mine and ours.
oh yeah it's Xhosa, or Cosa. One of the most mesmerizing languages I have ever heard. The clicks are like our vowels. Very hard to speak but like heaven to hear
When I first heard Miriam Makeba I felt I'd found home.
