In standard there was a deck that some japanese players started playing that was red/black deck wins in standard during ravnica where they had hit/run and bob in the same deck. The chance to eat almost half your life in one shot still didn't stop them from running dark confident.

Caverns was a players submission for the invitiation (you submit a card when you show up), but he didn't actually win. However, Wizards really liked the card and printed it anyways.

That one is based on an Invitational submission (by Fujita I think). Though he didn't win, they had like a poll and it got voted the coolest card that didn't win or something.

So they printed it, but since he didn't win the tournament, it's not an Invitational card and he didn't get to have his likeness on the card.

@ElectricSweater gemstone was inspired by an invitational submission but its not the purpose of this video to analyze all of the cards that are submitted and later made into a card. just the winners. i know i wasnt part of this video production but i safely assume that thats was their goal.

Shadowmage Infiltrator was in Kazuya Mitamura's deck that finished in second in Pro Tour Yokohama 2007 (Time Spiral Block Constructed). So it did finally get the glory it deserved though it was many years after the fact and in a tournament format without Psychatog.
