Mike, all people of all ages love your show, and everything you do. I'm a 16 year old teenage girl and i watch every episode of Dirty Jobs. Keep on promoting Ford and doing your show. God Bless You!
The best of luck on this Mike. This country's small businesses, would do well to get back to apprenticing programs where eager young people with an aptitude toward the type of trade those businesses work within. The people training, can do much in the way of teaching pride in a good work ethic and quality workmanship. Everybody benefits, and we may be yet again, a world class manufacturing nation...
Oh man Mike, you are expressing some of the exact same thoughts I have spewed at my friends over the years, only not half as eloquently as you do. I submitted some ultraviolet ideas via your website. They may not be all that bright, but hopefully they are helpful.
Out of your mind? If that's the case, I wish everyone else were, too. I wish you the best of luck with this. The issue of turning "work" into the enemy, in conjunction with the aging of the workforce currently in those "undesirable" jobs, is being felt already in many small communities that rely on the manufacturing industry. Keep it up... Many of us already know the message and will share it with whomever will listen.
Anyway, I think it's a great idea. Even in the easy retail jobs I've worked I've noticed a difference in how people approach the concept of work. There is no more pride in the work people do, and it's that fundamental feeling that makes even the most unpleasant job tolerable. Sure, you may go home covered in mud, sweat, and cement, but you built something today, and that feeling alone is enough to make you appreciative of your position.
Some people would rather be unemployed than work in a job they deem "below them". After Katrina, there were plenty of people who didn't work and lived off of FEMA money instead of working retail, food service, construction, etc... There were, of course, others that did the opposite and left jobs to gut houses and do construction, like the guys gutting houses in New Orleans.
Anyway, your website is very nice. I can't wait to see what you do with it.
Hello Mike, well this was a surprise! ok i will get right to it. My husband is a teacher for a trade school in mechanics and he takes a lot of pride in helping them get there GED so that they can be on there why in learning this trade. It would be great to have you go visit this school in Glendale, AZ to show how anyone men and women can learn this trade. My husband has been in this trade for over 32 years and now he is teaching it. if you would like more info just e-mail here on u-tube.

I can't wait for the site to be finished. Too bad you don't have T. Boone Pickens money to advertise it.
