The only American cars I'd buy are from Ford. The reliability and quality in them have reached up to Honda/Toyota. Some surpassing them and I like that. Go Ford!

Ford was strapped for cash and reluctantly sold a lot of share held in Mazda (Mazda was a good investment and partnership and platform sharing has been profitable). Ford used to have controlling shares in Mazda but they sold the majority, then let Mazda buy half or so of what remained. I believe their ownership of Mazda is now below 10%.

@IceNineX THAT is not true at all. JD Power does dependability studies (and initial quality studies which are relatively pointless). Buick (US), Lexus, Lincoln (Ford, US), Mercury (Ford, discontinued, US), and Porsche are the top five for 2010. Honda is sixth. I have never owned a Ford, but they have been doing a damn good job with development and quality that i might consider it. Place of origin is one thing, quality is another.. Mexico statement is ignorant beyond that tho..

And I actually know for a fact that Honda bikes are not 100% Japanese, they have many Chinese and other components. My point was that it does not matter if they maintain quality.

China is rich with resources so some resources are bound to come from China but it does not effect the quality of the vehicle. The CR-Z is made in Suzuka and no other factory. All Honda motorcycle companies outside of Japan were closed down. This is Japanese engineering and it is made in Japan.

Ford is engineered in the United states and Europe. Parts manufacturing and assembly can occur in many different countries. Mustang is assembled only in Michigan but its components come from all over. As long as quality control is maintained you should expect a good end product.

@rickrossthebosz You also might want to look up the history of people like W. Edwards Deming. He was an AMERICAN that revolutionized quality control in JAPAN. There is even a nice story about a Ford designed transmission, where customers would specifically request the Japanese one even though they were the same design in spec. The difference was the quality & tolerances, which was possible because of Deming's teaching & manufacturing procedures for quality. Joseph Juran would be a good read too.

1. The Corvette has been proven on tracks to handle brilliantly. Even the bottom of the range model beat the Shitsubishi Evo ,and Lexus SFA and Civic type R.around the Topgear track.

They handle great now ( get with the times) and it's not entirely made of plastic. It also has alumium and carbon fibre panels,fibreglass, and leather interior, and the build quality gets good ratings.

@EliteSlayer542 Handling is horrible in the ZR1 and it's build quality is horrible aswell. A Zr1 will fall apart very quickly. The handling is good though...for flying into trees.
Ive always known this and just recently i saw an episode of top gear where they put the ZR1 up against the Audi R8 v10. They seem to agree with me about the handling. They even said that one of their ZR1s started literally falling apart and eventually refused to start.

Europeans post WW2 - 1980ish couldn't afford to run or buy one due to high fuel and export costs.
Also EEC only permitted limited sales of cars built outside of the europe comunity, so it wasn't worth the Export costs. Jap only succeeded because it took advantage of the fuel crisis.
Countries like Japan and China etc are too strict on emissions to want US cars.

Bunch of nice ass domestics, only imports: a 1990 or so POS with a gigantic fart cannon in the back, and some F&F pictures...the part with the nice bike...well they cut that short - the domestic probably lost. I'm all for domestics, but if you're going to compare them, compare them straight up. I've seen my fair share of domestics that looked like rice POS's.

Ford was strapped for cash and reluctantly sold a lot of share held in Mazda (Mazda was a good investment and partnership and platform sharing has been profitable). Ford used to have controlling shares in Mazda but they sold the majority, then let Mazda buy half or so of what remained. I believe their ownership of Mazda is now below 10%.

@IceNineX THAT is not true at all. JD Power does dependability studies (and initial quality studies which are relatively pointless). Buick (US), Lexus, Lincoln (Ford, US), Mercury (Ford, discontinued, US), and Porsche are the top five for 2010. Honda is sixth. I have never owned a Ford, but they have been doing a damn good job with development and quality that i might consider it. Place of origin is one thing, quality is another.. Mexico statement is ignorant beyond that tho..

Most of their vehicles are 55-80% US/Canadian by parts (like most domestic brands), and again, it is not like ANY Honda's are 100% Japanese. @IceNineX All of its hundreds of components are not Japanese. I can assume that as fact. If you have evidence otherwise feel free to share. And I actually know for a fact that Honda bikes are not 100% Japanese, they have many Chinese and other components. Something being a 100% anything is an extreme rarity today because of how open trade is, and how cheap Chinese labor is. Things like bearings, seals are almost always Chinese. My point was that it does not matter if they maintain quality.

China is rich with resources so some resources are bound to come from China but it does not effect the quality of the vehicle. The CR-Z is made in Suzuka and no other factory. All Honda motorcycle companies outside of Japan were closed down. This is Japanese engineering and it is made in Japan.

Ford is engineered in the United states and Europe. Parts manufacturing and assembly can occur in many different countries. Mustang is assembled only in Michigan but its components come from all over. As long as quality control is maintained you should expect a good end product.

That is manufacturing, problems occur because of the high volume, and it shows Ford is doing damn well considering the 4 million they recalled last year. There is even a nice story about a Ford designed transmission, where customers would specifically request the Japanese one even though they were the same design in spec. The difference was the quality & tolerances, which was possible because of Deming's teaching & manufacturing procedures for quality. Joseph Juran would be a good read too.

@importsrule1 it takes skill to drive a muscle car around a corner i drove a 620hp evo i took it around a corner it was nothing special its fast as hell b/c he has a tremec 6speed in it. it was nothing special 45 mph around the corner got squirrly then i took him for a ride in my car my every day driver 84 cutlass it has a 403with around 185hp and 270tq with an automatic 3speed and a posi rear end i took the corner at 45 the car went sideways and i held it and it scared the shit out of him

1. The Corvette has been proven on tracks to handle brilliantly. Even the bottom of the range model beat the Shitsubishi Evo ,and Lexus SFA and Civic type R.around the Topgear track.

The rest of the world haven't got them availibe. The US cators for the US market mainly. If no-one wanted them world wide, then why was the 300 and Voyager such a huge success? Why is their import compan ies in the UKL being set up importing over Rams, Mustangs etc. Theres loads here in the UK.

Import cars are better than American Cars in EVERY SINGLE WAY.
Especially in styling. European styling is the best.

They handle great now ( get with the times) and it's not entirely made of plastic. It also has alumium and carbon fibre panels,fibreglass, and leather interior, and the build quality gets good ratings.
As to whether its ugly...well thats just personal opinion. Yours means nothing as you've not even got your basic facts rights.

@EliteSlayer542 Handling is horrible in the ZR1 and it's build quality is horrible aswell. A Zr1 will fall apart very quickly. The handling is good though...for flying into trees.
Ive always known this and just recently i saw an episode of top gear where they put the ZR1 up against the Audi R8 v10. They seem to agree with me about the handling. They even said that one of their ZR1s started literally falling apart and eventually refused to start.
Why don't you look it up. The results are clear.

There are no American cars in "New Zooland" because no there has the money to get one over there. Go to another Country, the richer the country, the more American and European Cars you begin to see.

American cars aren't exported in high numbers, because they never have been.
Europeans post WW2 - 1980ish couldn't afford to run or buy one due to high fuel and export costs.
Also EEC only permitted limited sales of cars built outside of the europe comunity, so it wasn't worth the Export costs. Jap only succeeded because it took advantage of the fuel crisis.
Countries like Japan and China etc are too strict on emissions to want US cars.
