@puju1234 Finland didn't win the war, however - it lost 11% of its pre-war territory and had to allocate 30% of its economy to the USSR until the German invasion took place. Had the war lasted longer, it's likely Finland would have lost as its forces were not equipped for a long sustained war. Vietnam? The NVA was supplied by the USSR with modern weapons, not to mention US politicians literally made the military fight one-handed with unacceptable limitations.

@puju1234 France's military may have been big, but it's industry and economy was not comparable to Germany's. Even when the French rearmed, they put an utterly useless Maginot Line which was easily bypassed, their aircraft production was hampered by a badly prepared logistics system and the majority of its troops were reservists that were ill-equipped and over 30 years old and couldn't afford to produce more AA weaponry. Real wise way to spend money.

The Waffen SS was a multi-national, multi-ethnic force whose command changed in 1940 from Reichmarshal Himmler to the overall command of the German army. In any case, there were plenty of foreigners who served the SS, namely the Germanic-SS - not to mention large numbers of paramilitary groups consisting primarily of either Lithuanians, Ukrainians, Latvians, Estonians and the such. Few, if any were ever members of the Nazi Party itself. That also applies to the camp guards.

In an attempt to find a definetive explanation of the organization I would suggest that Wikipedia under the heading SS will give you a reasonable account of its formation and development during its twenty year history. Many books and documentaries have been written and made about the SS, some very good and some bloody awful, so the choice is yours. But, it's only history.

It then became the emblem and title of the 3rd SS Panzer Division of the Waffen SS and the 54th Bomber Wing of the Luftwaffe. It would seem you are confusing it with the Einsaz Groupens who were formed to follow the Nazi advance east.

One of my grand-grandfathers (a landser, a Wehrmacht soldier) wrote a letter home two or three days before he died. In this letter he described how one Waffen SS leader send a squad of "Hitler Jugend" boys (none of them older as 13) against 10 attacking sowjet tanks in an open field. The boys just had T-Mines so that had to get in really close to the tanks. They all were slaughtered. There wasnt even a chance for them chance to succed this "mission".
The Wehrmacht soldiers really feared the appearing of Waffen SS leaders at their unit. They feared them for something they called "Heldenklau" (hero theft). At "Heldenklau" the Waffen SS took the "best" men available from the Wehrmacht troops as reinforcement for the Waffen SS troops. The Wehrmacht soldiers knew that their comrades, their brothers in arms were in for a "Himmelfahrtskommando" (suicidal mission)...and this just for the reputation of the Waffen SS leader.
In truth the Waffen SS got most of the good equipment (due to the fact being Hitlers private army) and most of the available supplies. In battle, many of the Waffen SS leaders just want to to impress the "Führer"...military success was not important for them. So the leaders send their men (most of them being young boys at the age of 17 to 19) into military senseless battles. The men died and the Waffen SS leaders retreated and ordered reinforcement. And then they send them again into death.
I talked to many Wehrmacht and SS Waffen veterans in retirement homes here in Germany. This elite unit propaganda is absolute shit. The only thing that was elite was their fanatiscm about Hitler. Hitler didnt know shit about warfare...and so Waffen SS leaders tried to impress their "GröFaZ" in following his orders in every way. In Waffen SS the loyality to Hitler was more important than skill. Many of the young germans believed this elite propaganda too and volunteered for the Waffen SS.

@hockchong108 I knew that the first Waffen-SS units were not trusted by the military and were given just second hand equipment (even foreign Romanian weapons and tanks such as the Pz.Kpfw. 38(t)), they became elite units just from 1943 when there was a massive army reorganization, such as the creation of Panzergrenadier units and several other major changes.

@puju1234 Finland didn't win the war, however - it lost 11% of its pre-war territory and had to allocate 30% of its economy to the USSR until the German invasion took place. Had the war lasted longer, it's likely Finland would have lost as its forces were not equipped for a long sustained war. Vietnam? The NVA was supplied by the USSR with modern weapons, not to mention US politicians literally made the military fight one-handed with unacceptable limitations.

@puju1234 France's military may have been big, but it's industry and economy was not comparable to Germany's. Even when the French rearmed, they put an utterly useless Maginot Line which was easily bypassed, their aircraft production was hampered by a badly prepared logistics system and the majority of its troops were reservists that were ill-equipped and over 30 years old and couldn't afford to produce more AA weaponry. Real wise way to spend money.

The Waffen SS was a multi-national, multi-ethnic force whose command changed in 1940 from Reichmarshal Himmler to the overall command of the German army. At their height there were 32 divisions of Waffen SS fighting in all fronts. Wikipedia can tell you much more than I.... Good luck with the English.

In any case, there were plenty of foreigners who served the SS, namely the Germanic-SS - not to mention large numbers of paramilitary groups consisting primarily of either Lithuanians, Ukrainians, Latvians, Estonians and the such. Few, if any were ever members of the Nazi Party itself. That also applies to the camp guards.

Many books and documentaries have been written and made about the SS, some very good and some bloody awful, so the choice is yours. But, it's only history.

As the Reich expanded more and more organizations such as the police and Gestapo were taken under its wing. But, as organizations go, the SS was probably the most evil ever conceived by man. Smart uniforms, grand parades and stirring music cannot cover its rotten core or murderous intent. The 3rd Reich got what it deserved for signing up with Hitler.

@puju1234 ..Totenkopf means deaths head or skull and crossbones. This insignia was used before the war by many units but under the Nazis, firstly, by the Friekorps. It then became the emblem and title of the 3rd SS Panzer Division of the Waffen SS and the 54th Bomber Wing of the Luftwaffe. It would seem you are confusing it with the Einsaz Groupens who were formed to follow the Nazi advance east.

One of my grand-grandfathers (a landser, a Wehrmacht soldier) wrote a letter home two or three days before he died. In this letter he described how one Waffen SS leader send a squad of "Hitler Jugend" boys (none of them older as 13) against 10 attacking sowjet tanks in an open field. The boys just had T-Mines so that had to get in really close to the tanks. They all were slaughtered. There wasnt even a chance for them chance to succed this "mission".

The Wehrmacht soldiers really feared the appearing of Waffen SS leaders at their unit. They feared them for something they called "Heldenklau" (hero theft). At "Heldenklau" the Waffen SS took the "best" men available from the Wehrmacht troops as reinforcement for the Waffen SS troops. The Wehrmacht soldiers knew that their comrades, their brothers in arms were in for a "Himmelfahrtskommando" (suicidal mission)...and this just for the reputation of the Waffen SS leader.

In truth the Waffen SS got most of the good equipment (due to the fact being Hitlers private army) and most of the available supplies. In battle, many of the Waffen SS leaders just want to to impress the "Führer"...military success was not important for them. So the leaders send their men (most of them being young boys at the age of 17 to 19) into military senseless battles. The men died and the Waffen SS leaders retreated and ordered reinforcement. And then they send them again into death.

Wermacht (landser-infantryman)were less supplied and used mainly in areas to hold lines.They fought against all odds becoming accustomed to fight against superior forces.SS were originaly formed as hitlers body guard and later formed into divisions.SS were plentily supplied&infantiers from the wermacht wanted to volunteer to SS to become professional veterans and believed they were fighting for the Fuhrer and the fatherland-SS believe-do not surrender your honour is at stake-in victory or death

@hockchong108 I knew that the first Waffen-SS units were not trusted by the military and were given just second hand equipment (even foreign Romanian weapons and tanks such as the Pz.Kpfw. 38(t)), they became elite units just from 1943 when there was a massive army reorganization, such as the creation of Panzergrenadier units and several other major changes.

@GermanWarRemembrance I do have faith and i am liberal and I know that they are not so big population in Germany but i am very radical as it comes to them. I would not allow any more of them to enter Europe because they will NEVER assimilate with us and they are multiply in great numbers. I do not want my grandchildren to fight in civil war in Europe with mouslims....
