  • yea like the person below me asked, when i put the flip cover on can i still play my old games as well? or do i need to put the old lif on?

  • if you install flip top, will it still play normal games?

  • i think most fans use it for Kingdom hearts 2 Final Mix

  • Okie dokie, so I did this.. But I took out the springy thingy off as well as that other third screw.. So uh, how do I fix it?... I could really use some help.. Please..

  • @videogamecentral would u by any chance still have the top cover and swapmagic disks for christmas 2011 my son wants them and btw and are is the new top cover the one for swapmagic and the disks sold seperately.

  • i did it without the screws and it dosent read but if i put on the original top it reads the discs wtf?

  • @cjb227 hey man, I don't know if you fixed your problem yet, but mine did the same thing, and it was because there is a little stub that had broken off of my flip top, and it wouldn't go into the little hold on the corner of my ps2, so I just had to use some superglue, I don't know if that helps, I just got my flip top installed a few days ago

  • this actually helped me alot. except wen they skipped over the part when u gotta basically rip the thing off, i thought i was gonna break it.

  • great explanation

  • I did everything he said, but now it won't play any disks. They aren't spinning

  • that stupid latch is hell >.> i still can't get the thing in right and i been trying to reinstall the top for an hour :P

  • cood a tech deck tool work

  • # is not a pound.

  • I'd like to mod my PS2, but...

Does this work on SPCH-77001 models? As it is my model?

I'd really find it helpful if you responded. Thank you.

  • Gee I wonder why they NEVER reply to complaints here, maybe cause the bitch doesent work!

  • @BrainBustah00 Or you did it wrong. Herp-dee-derp.

  • @whjq No that isn't the case smart ass...Did it occur to you that these people might be rip off artists?

  • @BrainBustah00 Anything's possible. Including you doing it wrong. Herp-dee-derp.

  • my ps2 model is black and its number is scph-77001 does the flip top cover work on that model?

    ~James

  • does it work with the white ps2 slim? and is this easier or harder than the magic switch?

  • @smashNburn123 please reply to me not him^^ i was on my friend's account

  • This dude is full of shit and so is the top lid...It doesent just snap off or go back on "like so" as you said, you fucking edited the video to make it appear that way.I went through the major annoyance of taking it apart now I gotta put it back together W/O the piece of shit top lid that I WASTED my money on "doesent fit"

  • Dascheap a legit site? I don't want to get ripped off lol (obviously...)

  • @MasterLiaoHuaOfShu Don't worry, i bought my flip top from them and received it in a matter of days and am now playing kingdom hearts 2 final mix perfectly, they will not rip you off in any way.

  • Does this work with 9000x series?

  • Whatever model the one with the built-in power doesn't work... the case is shaped slightly different to where it won't fit.

  • I 100% support this video!! I bought the swap magic bout 4 days ago from dascheap now I'm going to order flip top next!!

  • FFX International, here I come.

  • @LtMkilla it will work, i have done the disc cover and got the game and swap magic disc and im loving final fantasy x-2 international last mission

  • Has anyone ordered from the store in the video description? I'm looking to buy the SwapMagic and flip top lid, but there are so many scam sites on the Internet it is hard to find a legitimate source that carries these items.

  • @TheRudeAmerican i havent purchased anything from them however go to estarland. com they also sell it, i bought mine from there.

  • @ARCHANGELREBORNX Thanks for the info man.

  • I also got mine from estarland. Be warned that it does not come with its own instructions, so it's a good thing we have videos like this one. Now if only I could figure out how I ended up with an extra piece...

  • hey, i noticed u said there are 4 hidden screws on the 75001. where can i find those?

  • Do you install the Flip Top on a PS2 SCPH 9000 the same way as this model, or are there differences?

  • Open ps2?mmh...NO!

  • can someone please tell me.... does the screw at 2:46 not need to be put back in?

    thanks :)

  • So if i dont put the flip tool will the ps2 work with only the disks

  • 3:15 lmao fail

  • can u play regular north american video games once u have the flip top on ur ps2??

  • Your PS2 Looks like a toilet seat!

  • is there one to match the platinum PS2?

  • does the fliptop work on 90001 models?

  • 1:06 Fingernail if you have one? What?

  • i wasn't replying to youtr fingernails comment, i was commenting on your swap magic disc one

  • I'm getting one. But why DO you need one for Swap magic discs and imports anyway?

  • because it makes it ALOT easier than sticking a bunch of chips into your ps2, which has a bigger chance of breaking your ps2 down...

  • @TheMunchlaxboy I know, but seriously, unless you have like a body defect or you just like playing with fingernail cutters, who doesen't have fingernails?

  • I have a slim PS2 model no. SCHP-79002 and I was wondering if the flip top would work on it. Any help???

  • do u have the flip tops 4 the silver ps2s yet?

  • @nirvash1993 this worked for me het a small peice of bundled up tissue and stick it in the one little hole that glows red behind the power button then just use swap magic natrually your ps2 wont close all the way but it dosnt affect the game at all and saves alot of time

  • mine doesnt have 6 screws only 2 :S:S:S i cant open it !!!!!!!!!! there is just plastic blocks n the other ones that are solid

  • my ps2 only has 5 screws

  • why is this preferable to simply putting some electrical tape over the sensors? saves you twenty bucks.

  • can u do it for the other black slim i need to know

  • can you show me how to put that black thing on.

  • medio boludo para trabajar me parese

  • Thank you.

  • does this work with the white ps2 that comes with singstar?

  • I dont have six stoppers, I have four, is that bad?

    please message me

  • @cowman850 its under the stickers you have 2 break ur warranty lol

  • cool man!

  • i had a fat ps2 i just opened it and took the little plate that has the ps2 logo on it where the disc tray is off and just used a slider tool to unlock the region in conjuction with SwapMagic 3.6 and it worked fine and it still let me play usa games like normal.

  • nevermind I figured it out, thanks alot for the tutorial!

  • my ps2 slim only has 5 screws on the back and I can't take off the cover! my swap magic just came and I'm screwed help someone please..!

  • hey when i mod the top i can still play orignal ps2 games right? un copied, store bought games. the real deal. i can still play those with the modded top right?

  • @kwebber1234 yeah, the flip top just blocks the censors for swap macig when the top needs to be open without resetting the console

  • hey thnx man! gonna order when i get enough money!

  • 3:05

That was a lie. I took those out and now my PS2 doesn't play games any more even though its the black version. How do I fix this?

  • i have one question can someone PLEASE ANSWER ME!!!! do u need a fliptop to ude the swap magic cant you just insert the discc with one thats not fliptop

  • No. You have to have the flip top

  • i dont think so, but in not quite sure. it's probably best to use the flip top, just in case. thats my advice

  • Umh, could you possible explain why the flip-top converter is necessary for you to play imported game? I don't quite understand the difference between America PS2 and Japanese PS2.

  • Its needed for the swapping to work, because the ps2 has some mechanisms built in to recognize when the lid is closed, the flip basically keeps the mechanisms on and tells the ps2 that the lid is closed (even when its not). The difference in japanese and american ps2 is the type of tv it supports if im not mistaken. If its not that then its probably because area codes like in dvds.

  • Oooh, that'd make sense, thank you very much.

  • @Deadagent so it's not required, but is there to make swapping one step faster? I mean, I'd just shut the lid.. is there any reason why I couldn't do just that?

  • @ryan0mega It is required, I have the swap magic and I tryed to swap it without the flip top, and it dosent work. Why? Because it checks the disk when you swap it and try to boot it. So there it IS required.

  • @Deadagent it still doesn't explain why it's required. I understand swaping discs.. but why do i need to install the fliptop if I just close the lid after i put in the disc, much like whenever i'll play any regular game... i'll close the lid. no one seems to be able to explain why i must MUST install the fliptop

  • @ryan0mega Because there are mechanisms that detect if the lid is closed or not. If it detects that the lid is opened during the action, it will check if the disk is legit once again. And installing once the flip top is installed you can swap the disk without the ps2 detecting it and checking the disk. If you still cant understand, then buy the whole swap magic thing and try it without the flip top and you should understand what im talking about.

  • @Deadagent And to add, there is a way to do it without installing the flip top, but its alot more work to do then just simply installing the danm thing. But if ya wanna hear it fine, you have to block the mechanisms from noticing that the lid is closed at any point, from what I could find there are 2 of these (you should be able to figure out where they are just by looking at the lid). The major disadvantage to this however...

  • @Deadagent all you had to say was 'if you open it then it needs to re-validate'

    makes sense

  • @Deadagent ...is that you would have to boot the system up with the lid open and keep it like that the whole time your playing.

  • Doesn't anyone ever listen to me? It won't work! My friend had to buy another one because it mesed his up! And it was the black version!

I'm not trying to sound rude, but get a japanese ps2, which ever color you want whether it's fat or the thin version. It's the same as if you're getting a Wii and the shipping isn't bad. it's on playasia....yeesh...

  • Okay, can someone help me please! I've gotten my flip top installed and when I try to play a disk, the disk doesn't spin at all. I've loosed the screws, attached and reattached the top, etc and NOTHING. I noticed that there is a tiny little gap between the plastic part that has PS2 written on it and the place where the flip top goes. Also, there was a silver colored spring and a small piece that fell off of it and was wondering that has to do anyting with it. Please help!!!

  • This same exact thing happened to me. I tried putting that piece back in but still nothing. I'm really about to flip now cause I can't play any games at all.

  • You guys do know that this was made before the Silver PS2.. right?

  • okay in confused i bought KH final mix like 2 days ago i cant play it...i need like a magic swap..i got the fat ps2..sooo im wondering if i got a slim or silver ps2 would i still need a flip top cuz i thought still the slim was already a flip top im confused answer me plz

  • OH SNAP, i just bought the fliptop yesterday and i have a silver ps2!

what should i buy then? magic keys, or something else?

  • Does anyone know if this will be successful with a SCPH 77001 Model ps2? Im just being paranoid cuz I hear for some people this disc didn't spin at all after installing the fliptop. I certainly don't want to destroy my ps2 trying to do this.

  • On the bottom of my ps2 slim they have small hard squares on the screws.

How do i get them out?

  • HEY I just installed the Flip top.. However the Magic Swap is not spinning.. What did we do wrong?

  • dude you could have told us it didnt work with silver and besides the ps2 is going to be ending soon neway how could they make a silver flip top?

  • Looks so much simpler rather than downloading an emulator and all that crap. Go VideoGame Central! Ordering mine soon. :)

  • what about SCPH 90001

  • I installed my fliptop but any of my games even the orginial ones doesn't spin at all? I may have done something wrong. I really appreciate your help on this.

    I have a SCPH 75001

  • I did. The Flip Top doesn't have long enough "extensions" to push the sensor buttons down. What I did is open it up, and tape down the sensors. I just didn't use the flip top altogether. My method is easier too. Be careful around the PCB board, you might snap off the power button like I did. luckily, I taped it down.

  • does it work on a silver ps2?

  • @rob4nj3 and to everyone else

This doesn't work for the silver ps2. It won't read the Swap Magic and it won't work with your system whatsoever. Sorry, if you all have silver ps2's.

  • Wait... I dont understand.... Why do you need to put that on if that normal top isnt a problem....

why cant u use swap magic with a normal top?

    Someone reply please .....

    im very courious ;-) :P

  • @tictracky

The normal lid will know whether you've opened it or not, so you can't switch out the discs without it stopping, meaning you can't play the disc you're trying to play. But the flip top is special and allows you to do that :)

  • ooo now i get it

    thanx

    ayamehebi

  • @tictracky so you can take out the swap magic disc and insert your game with out the ps2 saying there isnt a disc in or something remotedly like that

  • So will this work on a SPCH - 75001....i"ve already ordered this along with swap magic and an import game so i want to make sure that its definitly going to work

  • Nice man. I am planing on ordering it for that exact model, and Swaap Magic and a copy of KH2FM.

  • i got KHFM i got the fat ps2 plz expain what i need...what if i just bought a slim or w/e would i still need a flip top??

    plz explain

  • @ThaLulz19 ditto

  • @ThaLulz19 man tell me how kingdom 2 fm is i imported judt part 2 since my english ps2 stopped wrking and my japanese one was still in, also try Namco X Capcom

  • @ThaLulz19 man tell me how kingdom 2 fm is i imported judt part 2 since my english ps2 stopped wrking and my japanese one was still in, also try Namco X Capcom

And Also What else do i need for this to work just the lid or something else i need,?

  • I installed it, but now the disc won't spin, what's the problem? If this helps:

When I did it, the silver disc "stopper" at the back of the tray was removed (on purpose.) In the video he never put it back in; this is why I did this. Why is the disc not spinning?

  • I have the same problem. My disc is not spinning. Did you find what was wrong?

  • If you have a ps2 slim without the flip top and y ou just cover the sensors can you still use swap magic?

  • @MegaPewp \

No cause it'll mess it up. It did that to my friends ps2 and he had to buy another one.

  • Uh oh... I was planning on getting this but that doesn't sound so good...

  • And the one I have is a 90001 model one so I'm not even sure there is a flip top compatible with it =/

  • @pikmintaro

If I were you, then I wouldn't get a flip top for it. Get the Japanese ps2. It's way better and it costs the same as if you're buying a Wii. I just got mine a week or so ago from Playasia(dot)com and I'm playing KHFM, KHFM2, Guilty Gear, and Street Fighters like mad!

  • use freemac boot then type it here on youtube

  • The disc doesn't even spin now. Lol. Good waste of money!

  • Can you still play english games on it, after you install the flip top thing?

  • isn't it just easier to stick pieces of paper in the sensor slots...? idk... i am a newbie and consulting here and there to mod my ps2... i am gonna use swap magic 3.6 but still stuck on the decision to buy a lid or not...

  • hey, buddy, your video is good but where can I buy this dvd Swap Magic ...

    I hope your answer .. thanks ..

  • Lol. Chill out, dude. Japan always keeps the awesome games to themselves while they give us the left overs. That's just how they are. Lol.

  • @sasunarufan22 its more america refusing to purchase all the licenses to the games

  • @riderdarkkabuto

Either way, that's why they created other systems other than American systems. That's why I have a Japanese PS2 so I can play all the imported games I want. Like Sengoku Basara X! And thankfuly the PS3 is region free so I can play imported games too!

  • agh!!!!!!!!why did i have to get a SILVER ps2?!man i wish i could get a flip top for my silver ps2...

hm i think ill just buy japanese ps2 to play those sweet kingdom hearts games...

SCREW SQUARE ENIX AND THERE DISABILITY TO LET OUT KINGDOM HEARTS FM INTO THE US!!

  • He could have told us before hand that the black flip top cover doesn't work for the damn silver ps2 slim. It was fine putting the cover and and everything else but it made me mad that I had to find out that it this flip top cover didn't work for the silver ps2 slim...so freak this! Before the holidays come along I'll just get me a Japanese ps2 and play KH2FM on it and Bleach. That was useful, but such a waste at the end of it.

  • is there a UK site where i can get these

  • Oh my god I rate this video 5/5. Im going to get both swap magic and the Flip Top for my Slim Ps2. Im looking forward to play Biohzard Online XD.

  • can i work on 79001?

  • How come when everything is installed and stuff, my PS2 doesn't play the CD.

  • Mine is SCPH - 70012 btw.

  • same for me i did it before but this time i installed the flip top the disc wont spin

  • you need swap magic

  • ...No shit. I meant that the CD didn't spin. It did a month ago.

  • I mean that its been fixed a month ago.

  • what size is the screw driver used to open the ps2 up

  • hey do i really need a flip top just to play japanese games? whats the use of it

  • Thank you sooo, much that was a great tutorial, great product, keep it up!!

  • where can I get a fliptop for the silver PS2???

  • i have a 79001 are the insructions the same??

  • will this work on the 75001 slim model.

  • i have a ps2 model 79001 and where the 2 things are that you take out with a small screw, there are things in the way, what can i do,

    Please Reply!!!!

  • i tried and those small screws...i could get the 1 with the spring out but the others wont. Help me please!!!

  • i have the same problem, please reply! and help

  • will it work on a 79001??

  • do i need a flip top???

  • hey do u HAVE to install the flip cover??? i mean cant u just use the swap magic cd on ur slim ps2. y do u have to change the flip over????

  • Yes you have to have a flip top. The reason is you have to take out the Swap Magic disc and put in the Import game without restarting the PS2, which the PS2 normally does when you hit the eject button. The flip top allows you to switch the discs by simply flipping the top open.

  • Can't you just remove the eject button then and then just open up the lid?

sorry if this is actually a stupid question, but it seems more logical than spending 20 bucks...

  • my ps2 slim cant load dvd-r or dvd+r, but its with outswap magic, will it work with swap magic?

    Please reply.

  • how did he do that

  • ITS MAGIC!!!! nah jk there will be an instruction booklet with the package

  • does the flip top work to load normal games, or do have to take it out so it picks it up?

    thanks

  • what happens when you press the eject button? if it lifts up, just put the normal game it. it should work because the magis swap works like a normal game.

  • ya it load normal games

  • where do i put the spring

  • I have trouble taking the old fliptop off. I'm afraid I'll break it

  • I have a 9000. I overlooked the description when I bought it, so it's my fault.

I found out you don't need any kind of flip top if you have a 9000...just some paper to push down onto the button so it doesn't detect that you've opened up the lid.

  • Do you even need this? Can I just like have no top at all and put my disc in?

  • yeah
